While cruising YouTube for Muay Thai knockout videos last night — hey, it’s my life and I can waste it any way I want — I came across this gem, filmed in Thailand a couple years ago. When you keep up a pace like that, it’s only a matter of time before one guy catches a bad one. Watch as Mr. Red Shorts lands one of the nastiest cobra punches ever recorded, then knocks Blue out again with a head kick as soon as the poor bastard gets to his feet. Two questions: 1) Did that referee graduate from the Yves Lavigne School of Letting Fighters Suffer Multiple Concussions? and 2) Who would be watching soccer at a time like this? Anyway, good morning everybody…

this is a "muay boran" fight, its just a demo. lots of thai fighters do this to make more money, after their fight they go around the crowd to collect tips. when i was at sityodtong even my trainer pon says he'll do them a few times a week to make some extra cash

I can see that many of CP's members are experienced enough to pick up what I did within the first 10 seconds of this video. faafa and ivi speak the truth this is a staged show for the farang.
I can't believe anyone couldn't have figured that out, especially the writer for CP,...for shame dude.

if you watch the video again, you can notice that when they kick each other inn the body they put the glove from the other arm under the armpit to block and for soundeffects. The referee is blocking the view so you can`t see that that the headkick is also blocked.

Excellent display of both falcon punch and falcon kick techniques. Their exchange was clearly for show but it is hard to stage a foot to the face bone that is heard clearly above the dull roar in a packed room IMO.

What you can call this is movie fighting. The fight is coregraphed like inn the martial arts movies. It is just for show for tourists(farang) inn Thailand. After the fight is over, the fighters go to the crowd to get money, cause they don`t get paid from the bar who have these type of events. The fighters are retired muay thai fighters who needs the extra cash.

Sorry CP. They're right. I've been to this exact bar and they showed staged fights all night. Look how they just exchange kicks back and forth, each one going into the other's armpit. Does this look anything like a real Muay Thai fight? No.

You are aware this is a staged fight right ?

This year I have been on such an event in Thailand, perhaps maybe at the same bar even (it was the Reggae bar on Koh Phi Phi island). While it is fun to watch, it is clearly staged.

Yeah, this fight was a work. You can tell by the way dude's head snaps back like it was hit by a fuckin' cannonball. Also, watch his arms as he hits the canvas. Looks like he graduated from the Vince McMahon School On How to Take a Bump.

When there's no tourists willing to fight, they get locals to put on staged fights to draw crowds

Nothing about that fight was real and cagepotato should be very embarrassed for posting it as if it was legit

Great Muay Thai striking, fast and crisp. Unfortunately, the UFC won't see striking like this until it eases up on its drug policy. I've seen hummingbirds move slower than those guys, I think they are on one.

Pretty sure it's shopped. I can tell by the pixels and by the made-up term "cobra punch". That's clearly GSP's signature superman punch, AKA "The Head Rush".

I wonder how many of the people crying "staged" train Muay Thai?

The most impressive part of that video was the rapid response of the ring-side physicians.

I never thought I'd see a video on CP that made me appreciate athletic commissions.
