By the Way, Jon Jones Won’t Be Having That Surgery on His Hand After All

Well, this isn’t going to help the credibility of that swagger-jackin’ Jon Jones. Bones’s manager Malki Kawa took to twitter today with a revelation that will only give more ammunition to the haters who found it a little suspicious that the UFC light-heavyweight champion postponed a fight against Rashad Evans to fix a thumb injury that “doesn’t affect [his] punching or grappling“:

I guess its time to put out the truth. @Jonnybones suffered a tear in his thumb in 2 different spots… Every dr he saw said to have surgery. We went to meet with the surgeon on wed and after he looked at @Jonnybones he thought that surgery was a bit [invasive] and bones didn’t have To have if he didn’t want to. @Jonnybones decided against surgery, and we immediately met with dana and lorenzo the next day to get his next fight scheduled.

For the record, every doctor @Jonnybones saw was a @ufc referred doctor. The very last one on the day before surgery thought against it…And to be quite frank, @Johnnybones never wanted to have surgery, the doctors advice all along was to have the procedure done. No @Jonnybones is not fighting rashad. Rashad is fighting phil davis. I’ll let you know who or when jon will fight real soon.

Do we think Jones ducked Rashad because he’s afraid of his former training partner? Of course not. Judging from the flawless beatings Jones has inflicted on guys like Mauricio Rua and Ryan Bader, that’s a ludicrous suggestion. Unfortunately, perception is reality, and Rashad can now hijack the narrative with the talking point that Jones pulled out of their fight with a fake injury, just to avoid fighting him. (Look, he’s already doing it!) At this point, turning public sentiment against Jones is probably as important to Evans as beating him in a fight. Get ready for a whole lot of mud to be slung…

I'm glad the rashad-bonehead fight is off. It was going to be a yawner anyway.

It takes a real piece of work to make rashad look like a sympathetic figure.

Are people really dogging rashad's wins? Jones has beat nobody. Calling him unbeatable like people have been is like calling a shark fights champ unbeatable. He beat a shogun look a like...not even close to the same shogun who faught chuck and lyoto. Who else has this cunt beat to be called unbeatable? #1 former champs. Just a ring rusted champ coming off an injury. I used to be a fan of this faker.

Micheal Bisping needs to arrive and sort this shit out, yo.
Dizzylittlelord- May 13, 2011 at 8:12 pm
rashad should get a rematch or this is bullshit, there are no contenders at 205 right now, maybe if forrest beats shogun and machida beats someone and rampage beats hamil, then maybe

The real Martian Manhunter would never fake an injury.
Snitches_get_stitches- May 13, 2011 at 4:51 pm
Rashad/Phil is not until August, why in the hell can they not just reschedule Phil for another fight, and have this originally as planned? It truely does seem like Bones is ducking Evans, even though he has no reason to duck him. This brings Bones' cred down just a touch right?
Dana_Plight- May 13, 2011 at 4:31 pm
OK I know the entire universe hates Rashad and all, but I'm starting to feel bad for him.
cecils_pupils- May 13, 2011 at 3:17 pm
No matter, they can just cancel the Rashad vs. Davis fight and get Jones vs. Rashad back in action. Rashad is the legit #1 contender so the UFC should put that fight back together.
djp1988- May 13, 2011 at 3:05 pm
Any Detroit people here?

The only way to describe this situation is with a good ol' Drew and Mike "Hey Jonny Bones! BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
noname- May 13, 2011 at 2:44 pm
I don't know how bad Mr. Bones thumb is, but if he says it's not that bad and he can still fight and he still ducks Rashad then he's nothing more than a bitch.

I was going to post something witty, maybe bash twitter fags, but I honestly cannot follow Goog's comment.
Goog- May 13, 2011 at 1:59 pm
It walks like a turd, talks like a turd, is long, brown and tapered like a turd... it must be Jon Jones.
fACE7biter- May 13, 2011 at 1:11 pm
@edhedicus You forgot to mention when he almost got TKO'd by a middlling LHW with horrendous back problems in Thiago Silva. And you're right, theres really no reason to think Jones is scared of this guy.
Why can't this story just be taken at face value? He thought he needed surgery, turns out he doesn't. Can't blame a 23 year old in his athletic prime for worrying about his future. The only thing that doesn't make sense is why they don't just reschedule the Evans/Jones fight for later in the year.

I smell a big fat troll
Fedor Penn- May 13, 2011 at 1:02 pm
Yeah I call that ducking especially after the way Jones ran his mouth.
intercept440- May 13, 2011 at 12:59 pm
OK. so now all dana needs to do is scraps jones and rashads opponents, reset the rashad jones fight..simple ufc 131 nigga it will take over the headliner spot that used to be lesnard and cigane
PERPATRAITOR- May 13, 2011 at 12:48 pm mean pillow hands bisping? b/c i do think bisping won that fight. at least for the fans.
PERPATRAITOR- May 13, 2011 at 12:47 pm
i JUST posted about these champs taking injury breaks. jones and velasquez. guilty. i still like jones but damn nigga!
edhedicus- May 13, 2011 at 12:44 pm
Have any of you seen Jon Jones fight? Have any of you seen Rashad Evans fight? Why on God's green earth would Bones be afraid of a natural middle weight that has beaten an old washed up, half drunk Chuck? Was getting his ass handed to him by 'pillow hands' Griffin? Got 'stanky legged' by a guy who wont engage or fight? Laid on top of an out of shape Rampage who damn near beat him anyway?
Come on meow, lets keep it real!
melo_104- May 13, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Jon Jones is a joke. Very good fighter, but he isn't winning any fans with this sorta stuff. Can't wait to see Rashad expose Judas Jones. As for the Evans-Davis fight, it'll be exciting but I think Evans is just a bit seasoned for Davis at this point, but it will be huge tests for Davis
LOKI- May 13, 2011 at 12:38 pm
I dont understand why Dana isnt pissed by this obvious deception and imediately re-schedueling the Jones vs. Rashad fight.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- May 13, 2011 at 12:37 pm
I know everyone likes to think of Jones as the golden boy of MMA, but he comes across as increasingly cocky every time I hear him, and this latest incident just makes him look like a fight-ducker and a pussy.
rogerw- May 13, 2011 at 12:34 pm
Hm, would be fun drama-wise for Evans to beat Davis now, but I like Davis to much and him too little to root for Rashad in this fight anyway.
Lopes- May 13, 2011 at 12:32 pm
Why can't they just swap Jones for Davis and let Davis take the time off that he was planning to anyways?
