CagePotato PSA: Citizens of State District 28, Vote Chris Lytle for Indiana State Senate [VIDEO]

Chris Lytle Lights Out UFC MMA photos
(“Lights Out” is looking to bring a whole new meaning to the phrase “debate circuit.”)

Here at CP, we usually shy away from sharing our political opinions with one another, let alone you, our esteemed audience. Politics is a nasty business, nastier than any combat sport could ever claim to be, and discussing it often ends in much less hilarious fashion than our MMA-themed debates.

But when retired UFC legend Chris Lytle announced that he would be vying for a seat in the Indiana State Senate, we decided to put our various affiliations aside and rally behind one of the greatest figures the sport has ever seen. Because when we can come to an agreement with Dana White on anything, it must be for the greater good, right? Obviously Tapout co-founder and incredibly talented director Bobby Razak agrees that Lytle is the man to begin America’s return to greatness, starting with Indiana’s 28th District, and put together the following campaign ad for “Lights Out.” Unfortunately absent from the video are any highlights from Lytle’s highlight-abundant career, but that’s probably for the better.

In either case, check out the video below, then somehow turn this into a heated debate on Obama vs. Romney, because we know you will.

When asking yourself, “Is this the perfect political ad?”, first consider this:

Is our candidate shown walking in a fancy suit? Check.
Is it in slow-mo? Double check.
Is his all-American family there? Chiggity check.
Tell me, can he sign documents? You bet your sweet ass he can.
Are there fire trucks? You know there are fire trucks.
Is everything tied together with a beautiful string orchestra? That would be a big 10-4, Potato Nation.

You see, Lindland? This is where you effed up.

To find out all you need to know about Lytle’s campaign, including how to contribute, volunteer, or just pick up one of those sweet shirts, visit LytleforIndiana.com. And if we have any readers in the greater Indiana area, make sure you swing over to the 28th District and place your vote for “Light’s Out” when the polls open on May 8th.

Not to be a dissenter, but Lytle has absolutely no political experience. Have you seen any of his interviews concerning how he'll handle issues dealing with state economics or anything that he can't use the reference of 'I've faced challenges in the ring before'? The response that sticks out in my mind is him stating "I've read lots of books on economics". Really? You read some books so you you're qualified to represent the population? Lytle is a great guy, but he is economically all about his money. Anything that will benefit his personal economic situation is what he will vote for. Of course lightening the taxes on the wealthy is on his platform, it directly benefits him and not the other 95% of the people in his district. He's also a big believer in the 2012 'End of the world, Armageddon' scenario. Again, not what is needed. A good athlete does not make a good leader, running on popularity is an avenue to take, but it isn't good for those who will deal with his votes and decisions. Again, good guy, but very bad choice for government.

I felt the need to respond to a couple of statements. First, Lytle does not have any political experience, but this isn't a bad thing. Look where experienced politicians have gotten us so far. Second, I don't really care what his politics are because they have no effect in Colorado. This doesn't kill my interest simply because he has no experience. I want to see if he can make any intelligent, common sense changes where he is. Finally, Dim Mak, I understand where you're coming from, but gotta say that if you think you can do better, then get off yer fuckin high horse and run yourself!

Lytle is a Ron Paul Republican. If I was in his district he'd get my vote.
RwilsonR- April 27, 2012 at 6:26 pm
I think CP should have a competition and give out one of the autographed Lytle t-shirts.
Alan K- April 27, 2012 at 4:09 pm
I like the guy but I don't like his political views or policies. I'm allowed to do that, aren't I?
RwilsonR- April 27, 2012 at 6:18 pm
No.

Danga to be fair one of Dim Mak's comments was meant to trash you. Which I support. Vote for Dim Mak!

ahahah ...quit drinking early on Fridays...that was a joke right?
The12ozCurls- April 27, 2012 at 2:06 pm
That is crazy talk Payday - the words "quit drinking" should only be used at interventions and meetings. Thus far I have eluded both.
Payday- April 27, 2012 at 2:48 pm
Nice! Your elusivity is very...elusive.
The12ozCurls- April 27, 2012 at 3:01 pm

Sho Nuff said it best, as soon as the GOP gets off the BS of the trickle down theory, then we can have an educated discussion, but as long as they want to insist that these so called "job creators" invest in business and employment based on tax cuts and not dollar signs at the end of the rainbow I can't take them seriously.
Sho Nuff- April 27, 2012 at 10:33 am
At least his site isn't full of negativity and nonsense about how Obama is the devil. Sure, it's also full of the usual GOP nonsense about how lowering taxes on the wealthy will cause them to be so happy that they shower us all with their wealth. When will the GOP give up the disproved theory of supply side economics and come up with some new ideas to support fiscal responsibility and small government? When they do, I might get to vote for them again. I won't hold my breath, though.

I think some people may be taking this post a bit too seriously. This is the Indiana state senate for fuck's sake.
smellypiratehooker- April 27, 2012 at 10:05 am
CP, could you make it so I don't have to login everytime I leave this site to show my apprieciation (or disgust) for peoples comments. Like say, how you had it before.

Also, while you're at it, being able to like your own comment is kind of "manufacturing fake thunder" and should be put to a stop. Here, and on facebook (but at least on facebook, you can see the half-witts that do it.)
USMCOgre- April 27, 2012 at 9:41 am
Fuck Obama and his dipshit supporters.
DangadaDang- April 27, 2012 at 9:38 am
Wow, three comments to trash a guy as nice as Lytle? Lighten up, dim mak. Are you running against him or something? We supported Lytle when he first decided to run, which was before I even worked here, and will continue to in the future. You know where the door is.
dim mak- April 27, 2012 at 9:56 am
he might be "nice," but does that mean we should be supporting his political campaign? we should vote/donate to the guy just because he was an MMA fighter? and this isn't just a liberal/conservative thing, i'd be posting the same stuff regardless of lytle's political affiliation. the problem is when people turn politics into a popularity contest, rather than seeking out someone who's actually competent.
DangadaDang- April 27, 2012 at 10:07 am
I understand where your coming from, but if you think politics is anything but a popularity contest, or ever has been, then you are as blind as the day is long.
dim mak- April 27, 2012 at 10:19 am
yeah, sorry about my tone--got a little carried away there. i'm just really frustrated with people who treat politics like some kind of joke, then we end up electing people that have no clue what they're actually doing. and the people who elected them complain about how messed up the government is. quite maddening . . .
The12ozCurls- April 27, 2012 at 1:42 pm
ANARCHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dim mak- April 27, 2012 at 9:31 am
i think he let his 3rd grade kid write is policy platform after watching 2 hrs of Fox News:

http://www.lytleforindiana.com/Issues_NTN0.html

gun rights, illegal immigration, "job creation," and school vouchers. that's some tired, played out shit, lytle. might've taken a few too many shots to the head to come with any good ideas.
dim mak- April 27, 2012 at 9:27 am
this is some seriously stupid shit, danga--even by your standards.
dim mak- April 27, 2012 at 9:25 am
just because a guy is a good athlete/actor/entertainer/entrepreneur doesn't mean he'd make a good politician. please stop with this nonsense.
