Carlos Condit vs. Josh Koscheck Likely for UFC’s Super Bowl Weekend Card

(Yeah…whatever happened to that guy, anyway?)

Carlos Condit is going to have to re-earn his title shot the hard way. After his slated fight against George St. Pierre went up in smoke as quickly as it was handed to him, Condit is now likely to return at UFC 143: St. Pierre vs. Diaz (February 4th, Las Vegas) against perennial welterweight contender Josh Koscheck. UFC president Dana White discussed the matchup at the Leben vs. Munoz post-event press conference:

Right now, Carlos wants to fight. He wants to fight on the same card as GSP and Diaz, so we’ll see what happens. Koscheck has been offered (the fight).”

And by all appearances, Koscheck has accepted it, telling Twitter: “Yep, when I talk….. i get… Feb 4th weekend Vegas :) I will be fighting!!!!!!!!!!! Thx you DW!”

Koscheck began pre-emptively trash-talking Condit last week, saying that Condit has “0 chance” to beat him, dropping some nasty puns on Condit’s manager, and arguing that the Natural Born Killer doesn’t deserve his top ten ranking. Condit hasn’t publicly responded to the barbs yet, but we expect that to change now that he’s been booked in the co-main event of the UFC’s Super Bowl Weekend card.

As of now, the only other supporting bout reported for UFC 143 is a lightweight clash between Joe Lauzon and Anthony Pettis.

Salty balls, for Condit, I think that it would have been a much better fight then people were giving it credit for, but this fight does make more sense. Condits On his way up fast but not quite title contention, and Kos needs a few good wins, why not put that together? Probably gonna be a serious scrap!

fatbellyfrank is a scared little girl and he knows it. I love how potbellyfrank spouts out the mouth saying fight somebody else but when you step up to him he backs down and disappears quicker than your loose change around Karma

Organ's gangster predicted this you couch potatoes who have never stepped in a cage, AKA will do well with KOS, but he's still very predictable as Grease St Pierre exposed. Knocking out a punching bag like Matt WHO?? doesn't make you stand out, Condit should win DECISIVELY!!! You can bet your house on this, or bet your neighbor a bag of potato chips so you can even care.

He wants to be on the same card as GSP because he wants to be ready when Diaz screws up again and condit inherts a title fight again

Why give Kos anything. He's lost to GSP twice. Kos is posturing himself and taking a page from Condits book. Derail a top ww contender or destroy an oppenent that has recently lost a decision title match to GSP.
Thats the best way to get a title shot.

Wow! This is rally turning into a good guys vs. bad guys card. I approve!

If Koscheck wins, Dana should offer the next title shot to the winner of Koscheck vs Fitch. That might get them to fight each other.

Diaz was at the top before the one fight, just screwed himself out of it.
For Condit to get back his rightful spot as #1 contender he needs to Tonya Harding a motherfucka. He's already on the card.

Diaz's retard-mouth is what makes me hate him.

I still think Kos vs Diaz would make a better fight.. not to mention that Kos vs Diaz,> winner vs condit,> winner vs GSP is the order the fights should of been. But Again I am a bit Biased... and hate the fact that Diaz gets to the top with only 1 fight...
TheWarsawExpress- November 7, 2011 at 9:00 am
The fight that should be is Kos/Fitch.

I'm not so sure about this. Diaz and Condit are both exciting fighters that Koscheck has the ability to make boring.

I can live with seeing GSP out-wrestle Condit, if that's what he does. But we won't get to see that if Kos out-wrestles him first.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- November 7, 2011 at 8:05 am
I'd actually like to see Diaz/Koscheck. THAT would be a good fight.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- November 7, 2011 at 8:04 am
The minute I heard Condit wanted on the same card, my very first thought was that he wants on the card so he's available to get bumped up again if/when Diaz fucks up again.

But at this point, White won't bump Diaz for something like PR obligations again. It would have to be something major like an injury.

Tough draw for Condit... I understand him wanting to fight but Kos' strength could be a problem for him. He has a good record recently against wrestlers I suppose, but are/were McDonald, Ellenberger and Larson at Kos' level...? I guess if he can't deal with Kos' wrestling he definitely wouldn't hang with GSP so I suppose it makes some sort of sense, even if Kos doesn't deserve to be considered a contender, atm.

Hopefully Condit will win and get the title shot he deserves. Tough fight, though.
deviant- November 7, 2011 at 7:03 am
Lets hope your prediction comes true. Do not understand Whites stand on flip floping Condit. The fight should of been Diaz vs Kos. and Condit vs GSP...
CrushCo- November 7, 2011 at 6:57 am
I'm getting in my fight prediction contest entry early: Nick "Diaz's" his way out of the title fight again, and Condit is once more bumped up to fight GSP. GSP by UD, 50-45.

As for contest prizes, I could use a 52" flat screen, so lets shoot for that.

Condit V. Kos sounds like a good banger as well, this card is lookin good.
