(‘Screw this, baby. Let’s go to IHOP.’)
You’d think Cesar Gracie – head trainer/enabler to Nick and Nate Diaz – would have enough head cases in his life to keep himself busy. Either that’s not true, or else perhaps he’s developed a taste for difficult students, because now he is actively courting Jose Canseco. Silly us, we hoped it was just an empty, impulsive gesture when team members put out a video of them in a diner inviting Canseco to come on down and learn how to fight. But now the Gracie squad says it has reached an agreement to train Canseco for a fight with Herschel Walker “should that matchup happen.”
Hopefully that matchup won’t happen, and as a result Nick Diaz will not have to face a crisis of conscience for helping Canseco in his efforts to demean MMA for his own financial gain. Why the Gracie team wants anything to do with him is a mystery in itself. Unless they’re not getting a big enough piece of Diaz’s six-figure payday and are dealing with a dire financial situation, you’d think they’d want to stay away from a guy who has proved so toxic to everything he touches.
On his Twitter, Canseco confirmed that he’d had some talks with Cesar Gracie and his staff, and said “things are moving at a fast pace.” Added Canseco:
“Just so you know. I was not professionally trained to fight in any of my other fights. Things will be different this time around.”
We’re hoping the difference is that nobody agrees to pay him to fight this time.

commentsMaybe they'll get him so baked he'll forget this whole debacle of a fight with Walker and go into his true calling......Wes Sims tag team partner in the WWE. His gimick can be he comes out in his old Oakland Athletics uniform and his weapon of choice obviously could be his baseball bat. Sims will be a pregnant woman and his secret weapon will be to beat his opponents to death with little baby fetus'.
One of my co-workers (who doesn't follow MMA at all) saw the Walker debut fight, and was under the impression that Walker actually kicked some serious fighter's ass. Media hype makes it difficult for non-regular mma viewers to see Walker's fight against Nagy for what it is: an impressive athletic display, especially for a 47-year-old man? Yeah, for sure, but also a noncompetitive fight, designed largely to insure that Walker won. In other words, an entertainment-only fight with a predetermined outcome. Put differently still, these bullshit fights reduce mma to professional wrestling. I can't wait till Kimbo gets his ass kicked, too.
I assumed the Diaz brothers wanted Canseco around for his valuable steroid and growth hormone knowledge so he could help with their "garden".
;P
I hope this fight doesn't happen, but in a weird way I don't even care if it does. Walker isn't going to have a career as an MMA fighter anyways, and Canseco isn't either, if they do it for charity or whatever its not quite so offensive. At least its happening in Strikeforce and not the UFC.
"I was not professionally trained to fight in any of my other fights."
No shit?
You took the words right out of my mouth dude.
Maybe they have hidden cameras set up at the gym and they want to put Canseco getting his ass handed to him by the Diaz bros on youtube
What a baby.
Get it? 'Cause his name is... Ahhh, nevermind.
Oh internet racism, you've made so many idiots so brave when they can't be held accountable.
No shit?
