More exposure for mixed martial arts is always a good thing, so when we saw this awesome mini MMA documentary “3″ that MTV UK is promoting, we figured we’d pass it along so The Potato Nation could check it out and help spread the word.
We spoke with the director of the project, Demetrio Marquez about the film yesterday and the independent British filmmaker described the self-funded project as a labor of love of a massive mixed martial arts fan.
You see, Marquez usually produces features on a freelance basis on hip hop artists for the UK branch of the popular music-based channel, but he decided to help do his part in garnering the sport some attention by using his connections at MTV to pitch a spot about three of the UK’s hottest prospects — Jimi Manuwa, Cory Tait and Jack Marshman. The network agreed to the experiment and this first, of hopefully many, MTV UK MMA features was crafted thanks to the passion of Marquez and ”3″ producer Aundre Jacobs, a respected UK-based MMA journalist.
“I’ve done features on Paul Daley, Brad Pickett, Jason Young, Nate Marquardt in the last few months since I’ve been in and around the scene and I’m just trying to use any avenues or contacts to help promote the fighters who are all very very talented and on their way to the top,” Marquez explains.
Check out this great little doc and pass it on to your friends so these ambitious and passionate filmmakers can continue to make great features like these for our viewing pleasure by proving to MTV UK that fans want to see them.
