With a potential win over Rashad how do close do you think you are to getting a title shot?
Chuck Liddell: After I beat Rashad I think I deserve the next title shot.Would you every welcome a fight between yourself and [Anderson] Silva?
Sure, it could be a good fight but I think I’m too big for him. He’s a tough fighter and I have all the respect in the world for him but I think I’d be too much for him.I know you’ve briefly talked about it before but would yourself ever entertain the thought of moving up in weight class?
Yeah, I have talked about that a bunch of times, when I get done with what I wanna do at light-heavyweight I’ll be looking to move up in the weight class. If you could have an open weight fight with anyone in the world who would it be?
I’d really like to get a shot at Fedor; I think I match up well with him.
The Iceman faces Rashad Evans at UFC 88 (September 6th, Atlanta) and is “hoping to be close to 100%” by the time of the fight, following a hamstring injury which he’s still recovering from. All respect to Chuck, but beating Evans shouldn’t put him next in line for a title shot, with the UFC’s 205-pound division as crowded as it is — though an additional win over Mauricio Rua at the end of the year would certainly clinch it. The thought of Chuck at heavyweight is compelling, as is a potential light-heavyweight match with Anderson Silva (who probably wouldn’t be too small to deal with Liddell, no matter what he says). And is this the first time Liddell has mentioned an interest in fighting Fedor? And when he said that, did a silent alarm go off, alerting the UFC’s lawyers that they may soon have another “situation” on their hands?

commentsActually, he hasn't held the title longer than anybody in the UFC ever (unless you mean current UFC signees). Frank Shamrock defended it 4 times before retiring. Tito Ortiz defended it 5 times before he lost it to Randy Couture.
Can't wait to see Liddell get KOd the fuck out and go back to passing out on talk show sofas, or arguing with Kurt Angle over who would win.
ragging on chuck and calling him dumb for saying hed fight fedor is idiotic. the interviewer clearly asked him who he would fight if he could fight anyone. its not like chuck demanded it happen or anything.
and of course hes gonna think he can beat anderson. do you think he got to where he is by being scared of a guy in a lower weight class?
some of this chuck hate= ridiculous
but i guess if he's still wanting to fight Fedor...then the Jardine loss didn't hurt his pride much.
Chuck's still a bad mutha fuker...he could still beat Jackson with the right game plan and conditioning...could possibly give A. Silva his first KO loss with the right game plan and conditioning...but beat Fedor fukin Emilianenko...i don't know about that- Fedor might just be too big and more imporatantly- powerfull for him.
@OBI My son is a Genius isn't he.......
Chuck is fucking delusional. He’d having nothing more than a puncher’s chance with Silva or Fedor "
I love that this guy challenges the education level of the author and then starts a sentence with "He'd having".
- Silva is technical, but if you think he is anywhere near being able to deal with Chuck's power, you're an idiot.
Your a fucking moron.. Chuck is 21-5.. And went on a 7-0 run in the UFC. So yeah, his arms down is a dumb strategy..But it works.. you retard
And anyway, I think any ex champ deserves a title shot before the rest. Who else is above him? He beat Wandy, and he's about to beat an undefeated Rashad Evans..
Who deserves it more than him? Machida? He hasn't beaten anyone in the UFC yet. He's fought a bunch of cans. And yes, Sokoudjou is a can. It was his first fight in the UFC, so I consider him a can. So who else is there? ok then.
He deserves another shot at his title if he gets past Rashad. He has held and defended the light heavyweight title more than anyone else in the UFC, to say he doesn't deserve another crack at it is simply ignorant.
@ all the comments thus far, and at whoever wrote the article... grow the fuck up
He's just noting that he walks around at a bigger weight than Silva. Silva walks around at about 215 or 218; Chuck's walking weight is AT LEAST 230 (if not more). That could potentially make a difficult fight for Silva.
And I can't blame Chuck for not wanting to fight at Heavy. Considering what's happened in that division over the past year, there's really only one money match (with Nogueira). It's not worth it for him to move up when he can get a cut of bigger gates at 205. Yes, the scene at 205 is crowded, but most of the money guys and household names are fighting at that weight...meaning he makes more money fighting at that weight even if he isn't going to get a title shot anytime soon.
Chuck is fucking delusional. He'd having nothing more than a puncher's chance with Silva or Fedor - and since when did Rashad-fucking-Evans become the gatekeeper for title shots.
PS: Tell your kid to sit down and stop fucking chihuahuas Chuck, that's disgusting.
"...just waiting to get Kim Coture’d."
I really, REALLY LOL'd at that!
Add that to the classic Cage Potato catch phrases like "Smells like poop and Cracker Jack" (BIG CHRIS' kid!)
Ummm...what's Chuck doin' to that lil' doggie? Or did Chuck just poop a chihuahua?
If so, the man's got more talent than I ever suspected.
Hell, if I could poop pups, I'd be opening a frickin' dog kennel!
He wants a shot at Fedor... Well, you shouldn't have signed with the UFC. Fedor knew better. Fedor's manager said you'd have to be a complete moron to sign a UFC contract, being how one-sided they are.
It's in Chuck's best interest that Dana White keep him from reaching Fedor, because he'd be asking Kim Coture's dumbass advice on which hospital to go to.
I saw Chuck just washed up on shore this morning, along with a boot, an aluminum can, Matt Hughes, and Ken Shamrock...
