Clay Guida vs. Sean Sherk Likely for UFC Fight Night 21 in March

(They used to be boring wrestlers until Guida stopped being boring and Sherk stopped wrestling.)

Seems like it had to happen eventually: According to a new report on MMA Junkie, a lightweight showdown between Clay Guida and former champion Sean Sherk is being penciled in for UFC Fight Night 21 (March 21st, Denver; live on Versus). With his wrestling prowess and relentless pace, Guida has long been a threat in the 155-pound division, but he’s dropped his last two fights against Diego Sanchez (via split decision in June) and Kenny Florian (via second-round rear-naked choke in December). Meanwhile, Sherk has lost two out of his last three appearances — most recently a unanimous decision against Frankie Edgar at UFC 98 — due in large part to a decreasingly effective focus on boxing. Sherk was supposed to make his Octagon return earlier this month against Rafaello Oliveira, but was struck down by The Curse.

As we previously reported, the 3/21 card will be headlined by Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera, and will likely include Anthony Johnson vs. John Howard. A lightweight scrap between Spencer Fisher and Duane "Bang" Ludwig, and a light-heavyweight tilt between Vladimir Matyushenko and TUF 8 vet Eliot Marshall are also being reported for the event

This is shaping up to be a better fight night than UFC 108.

I'd like to see Diego and kenflo fight again.

Looks like a great card so far. Hopefully Bones kills Vera and ends this shit once and for all.

Maybe Sherk and Guida will just beat each other up against the cage since neither of then will be able to take each other down.

Feel bad for Sherk but got to take Guida on this one. Love that cave dweller. Mostly because I also am a cave dweller.

Vera vs Jones??? Dammit those were the two I wanted to destroy James toney! That will be an awesome fight though! I'm gonna go ahead and call Vera on this one. It will prob come back to haunt me, but what the hell.

I think Sherk needs to incorporate kicks into his arsenal. His "T-Rex" arms just don't have the range to be successful in a standup war unless he's up close and personal with his opponents. The guy can wrestle but homey can't land a punch to save himself.

Clay gets NOOO breaks from top competition. Win or lose they keep him at the A level.

Fisher v Bang is going to ROCK.

Guida has no chance to win this fight. Sherk is superior in all areas.

Who will get the first take downs and lay on the other person for the 15 min fight?
