Coming Attractions: ‘TUF 10′ Episode 2 Preview, Dos Santos vs. Cro Cop

(Props: Spike.com)

I kind of figured Tiki Ghosn was dead weight on Team Rampage’s staff, but in this clip from next week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights, he proves himself to be a very patient and encouraging teacher. Kimbo Slice is a sponge during his extra lessons on the ground-game, and you have to admit, his reversal at the -0:50 mark is as smooth as Country Crock. Rampage says he sees himself in Kimbo, and wants to show him a few things that worked in his own fights. Hopefully the extra attention proves useful, because his housemates are gunning for him in episode 2. As the narrator intones at the end, "is it time for Kimbo Slice to finally step into the Octagon?" No, probably not yet, but why else would you tune in?

In this clip from Spike’s Countdown to UFC 103 special, we learn that Junior Dos Santos‘s nickname comes from a Brazilian soap opera character who wore his long hair in a pony tail. Dos Santos keeps his hair short these days, and yet the nickname haunts him. On Saturday night he’ll be taking on Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, who wants to prove that his time isn’t over yet. Keep your eyes open at the 5:20 mark at you’ll see that Cro Cop is training at the "Van Damme & Cro Cop Team" gym. So JCVD still gets top billing, just for winning one measly kumite? Good stuff in both posts ArmFarmer.

@spacebump

Ok smart ass lets hear your reasoning as to why I would post on a website where nobody has any idea who I am and lie about something that's completely meaningless to begin with just for the hell of it?

I mean I guess it is pretty rediculous that an mma fan would dislike a ghetto street brawler that only fights completely talentless scrubs and walks around like he's the baddest man on the planet. It's also pretty far fetched that, once said street brawler realized that he isn't as tough as he thought he was and decides to apply himself and really learn mma and fight legitimate mma fighters, that same mma fan would have a change of heart and start rooting for him. Both completely ludicrous scenarios if you ask me.

Yeah I was totally lieing out my ass on that one, nice catch. Dick.

"I've always been a kimbo hater...." *cough* bullshit *cough* Sounds like Rampage isn't the only one falling in love with Kimbo.

Gotta give Kimbo credit, he has never claimed to be anything other than a street brawler and has always seemed like he wanted to learn MMA.

But the guy pretty much told Bas Rutten to go fuck himself when he was training with him and that he "didn't wanna learn none of that grappling shit".

True that Kimbo is famous for cloberring chumps, but I don't ever remember him pretending he was anything more than a street brawler. Even throughout the Elite XC debacle, he never pretended to be a badass. Elite XC did that.

I also get a kick out of watching him try to become a mixed martial artist and work on his many weaknesses. Betcha the guy is cool as shit.

Gotta love how Rampage is taking Kimbo under his wing and completely ignoring the rest of his team as if they meant nothing.

Rampage is such an idiot.

Just got my wisdom tooth pulled, got rewarded with 25 vicodins, man I can't wait for Saturday to watch Cro Cop give Dos Santos some creative criticism.

I love you Kimbo Slice.

I love you too Rampage Jackson.

That would be one scary couple. On a serious note, I think it is cool that Rampage is taking Kimbo under his wing. Tito Ortiz did the same thing to Matt Hamill on season 3. That brings one question to mind: If Kimbo is this season's Matt Hamill, who will be the jealous Michael Bisping of the bunch? Right now, it seems like everybody.

If Bas Rutten is your coach, you do WHATEVER he tells you to do. The man is an MMA God. Although I like Kimbo's new attitude, I still hold a grudge against him because he was disrespectful to Bas.

Dana should have arranged to keep a camera on Kimbo's son, as well. The look on that kid's mug when Seth knocked daddy out was almost as funny as Rashad's stanky leg face.

Fedor v. Rogers. Nov 6. You heard it thru me first!

Dos Santos vs. Cro Cop is going to be intense!!
Fedor vs. Bas- September 17, 2009 at 12:56 pm
But don't throw Bas under the bus! He took you in and tried to teach you. You weren't humble enough yet to learn. Although I can see Bas as a pretty tough coach.

I agree with Nut Puncher & ArmFarmer. Both great points.

I give Kimbo a lot of credit for his efforts...from what I saw on the first show he looks like he showed up in pretty good shape...looks to be in better shape then he was in any of his fights. I find myself pretty curious as to how he will do against some of the bigger, stronger guys considering his weakish wrestling.

Peetee- September 17, 2009 at 12:50 pm
Kimbo and Rampage sound like they're falling in love...
ArmFarmer- September 17, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I've always been a kimbo hater but I gotta say I'm pullin for him now. He has pretty much done away with all the reasons I didn't like him before. He's not fighting scrubs on the street anymore, he realizes he's not the toughest best fighter around, and he's doing the work he needs to do to fill the holes in his game. He's gone from beating up nobodys who can't even throw a punch to challenging himself against real fighters and really trying to become a real mixed martial artist. I like his new humble attitude.. never thought I'd say this but go kimbo!
Nut Puncher 9000- September 17, 2009 at 12:28 pm
I think Kimbo will fight next week. He should. Better to have the choice of who he fights now while Page still has the chance.
