Whether a radio interview with Starnes, in which he claimed he was protesting, actually happened is doubtful because there is no source details. However, if Starnes wanted to protest, here is how he could have done it effectively.

He could have created a website detailing his case against the UFC. Saturday night, he should have went in and knocked Quarry out in spectacular fashion which would have guaranteed him a postfight, in the ring, live interview. At this point,he could have put on a shirt ala Tito Ortiz, condemned the UFC and directed everyone to his website. People would still be talking about this instead of making fun of Starnes, as is happening right now.

Of course, this would have required Starnes to engage in a fight.
