Condit Waiting the Rest of 2012 for GSP Fight [VIDEO]

(“When people started asking me if I was going to fight someone other than Georges, I was like…”)

(“…and then I was like…”)

UFC interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit made a stop by HDNet’s Inside MMA last night and revealed his intention to wait on his Team Jackson stablemate Georges St-Pierre to return from knee surgery, instead of taking a bout in the interim.

“The bottom line is, I have my heart set on fighting Georges St-Pierre. If George is back this year, even if it’s…later…even if it’s November, which is what’s being thrown out there, I’m waiting for Georges and that would be my next opponent,” Condit told hosts Bas Rutten and Kenny Rice. If, perhaps he’s not ready to fight this year — not ready to fight until 2013, I will entertain the idea of taking on somebody else.”

Some will complain that he should be rematching Nick Diaz, but unless the Stockton native comes out of the other side of his suspension appeal in Nevada without any sanctions against him, he likely won’t be fighting any time this year.

“The Natural Born Killer” say that he hasn’t been pressured into taking a fight in the meantime, even though there are a few opponents he has his eye on.

“The UFC I think is looking at it from a business standpoint. They want to see the bigger fight, and basically the biggest fight is me versus Georges St-Pierre. That’s basically the sentiment I’ve gotten from Dana and some of the other UFC brass. I would love to fight some of these guys,” Condit explained. “There are some great contenders. Jake Ellenberger‘s had a phenomenal run. Martin Kampmann just had a great fight and I would love to avenge that loss, but Georges St-Pierre is one of the top stars in the sport and a win over him would catapult me to a different level.”

Truth. Just ask Matt Serra.

The Bigger fight is definetly not GSP vs Conduit. I already know what is going to happen with two jackson fighters going at it. Snooze/ and judge giving it to GSP. Diaz vs GSP might be interesting -- Since I think GSP might actually try and bang with Diaz -- just to prove something. And with a Diaz fight-- at least one of the fighters will be there to fight. Not just win by points.
Drios- March 19, 2012 at 10:00 am
Why should he fight to defend his belt. He didn't have to fight to win it. He didn't fight Nick Diaz -- he played a sport. Nick tried to fight him. But Conduit wanted to win a game/sport.
Dagnut- March 16, 2012 at 7:35 am
Who cares what his POV is? I thought whole idea of the UFC promoting would be that we would get to see the fights the fighters deserve and fans want and not the fights the fighters want?

This is total bullshit and if you can't see the damage this is doing to the best division you're an idiot

hahaha GOODFELLA needs some midol guys that is all. He calls me out for "having a bf" but he is clearly the one with a crush on Hisler. No one gives a fuck about your BB in sucking cock, licking balls, and internet verbal sparring. @everyone else- thanks for commenting on that loser's post.
Goodfella62- March 15, 2012 at 9:57 am
PaPa..Read ALL the posts, D-bag, If you know how to. It will explain it all. My "wanna be" ass possesses a BB in BJJ, Karate and Judo. When my training fails me, there's always S&W close by.
papa1962- March 15, 2012 at 9:26 am
Don't you assholes know that nobody, especially Condit, GSP, Diaz, or the UFC give a shit what you think! Calling people out on a forum? "I'll kick your ass if you don't agree with my comment!" LMFAO! @Goodfella...BEING REAL!?...What are you? A 16 yr old "pants hanging off the ass, badass wanna be?"
Goodfella62- March 14, 2012 at 11:28 pm
Hey, Goturback....This is a fight forum...Vitriol? OK you got to use your $100 word for the day (Im not impressed with your vocabulary)....The "beaner" comment isnt about cruelty. Its about the fight game, gettn into someones head...BEING REAL! If this kind of shit makes you sick than continue watching Richard Simmons or whatever it is you homo's watch. If decency is what your looking for, you wont find it in the cage.
goturback- March 14, 2012 at 10:13 pm
hey Goodfella62 I do not appreciate your remark in reference to the natural born killer. I read the blogs and have to contain myself not to respond on your level. One can have an opinion, but when did the level of vitriol on the internet, come in to play? It makes me sick to my stomach and I long for the days of decency when people had more respect for themselves and others.
Goodfella62- March 14, 2012 at 2:48 pm
OK..Make way for the fucking "MMA Know it all" Fletch....Looks like you need a lot of attention sweet heart! The only think that you can stretch is your asshole for your boyfriend. OK...I am a Badass. yes. I would fight you any given day, any given place FOR FREE! (as would my pal Hisler) Go back to Mommy's house and shut the fuck up! You have no idea what you are talking about.
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 1:53 pm
Once again, someone is speaking out of his ass. Although I am sure Hisler is such a badass he would fight anyone on any given day for any given amount of money. It isn't about being a badass, it is about money. If you are good at something, never do it for free. $500,000 to fight Ellenberger is almost free compared to the retarded amount of money he will make to fight GSP. It is a money thing. Plain and simple people.
hisler- March 14, 2012 at 1:30 pm
He doesnt want to fight anyone else becuase he wants to fight GSP? Well if your as good as you say you are then no matter who you fight, you will win and still face GSP. Sounds like hes not confident in holding the belt. Can you say Pussy?
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 12:53 pm
haha Goodfella you are a moron. Diaz is entertaining yes. He fills seats, yes. He is a great fighter, yes. But can he win a fight where his opponent utilizes a game plan and their own advantages rather than playing into his advantages? NO. See Condit fight. If Condit can execute a game plan and beat Diaz, what in the world do you think GSP would do to him? Stop being so biased and butt hurt and get real with yourself.
Goodfella62- March 14, 2012 at 12:47 pm
Are you guys Fucking insane? The bottom line here is $$$. Unfortunately the days of Tank Abbott and Dan Severn are over! This is a business. Seat, PPV and advertising dollars, That is all that matters here. DIAZ SELLS SEATS! Period! Nobody wants to see the Pussy (yes I am referring to the marathon runner, Condit) Fight GSP. The smart money says...1st Condit vs. Diaz 2 and after Diaz beats the beaner he will then fight and crush GSP. Sending both of those girls to the bathhouses once and for all.
doomrider7- March 14, 2012 at 12:09 pm
Agree with Fletch. Condit has always had a history of awesome fights and after just one performance where he has to modify his usual way to win(and it wasn't even a fight at that)and he's now worse than Kalib Starnes. MMA fans have some of the shortest memory spans are just the worse. Condit has been getting passed and bent over on this repeatedly and now he's FINALLY getting the shot he deserves, he's damned well within his right to handle this situation however it suits him.
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 11:47 am
Haha, you guys are aware that before Carlos fought Nick everyone considered him to be such a beast and entertaining fighter. He destroyed Dhong Hung Kim (however in the fuck you spell that shit), and put on a bunch of other entertaining fights. He has one fight (more than likely the biggest fight of his career so far) and he comes in and executes a well thought out game plan and every retard on the planet forms a new opinion of him. You guys are so hot cold it isn't even funny. Worse than a woman on her period. I am not even really a big fan of Carlos but the shit he is catching is not even halfway justified.
SnackDaddy- March 14, 2012 at 11:10 am
Is anyone even interested in a Carlos Condit / GSP fight? Blah...
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 10:20 am
Danga always with a quality post :)
J. Jones- March 14, 2012 at 10:05 am
Maybe they should put Condit in one of those "non title superfights" like Bellator does. Those have never backfired....right?
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 9:50 am
@Omelette: I agree with you. You just have look at the situation from his POV. He can wait on GSP and make so much money he will really not have to every worry again. Or he could fight and possibly lose a "controversial decision" and never have the chance to fight GSP or the strap ever again. There is just sooo much on the line to lose in a fight with Ellenberger/Hendricks. Money wise, Pride wise, appeal wise, etc. Hell what if he won via same game plan as he did Nick and then once again got called coward, etc. Then he gained absolutely nothing, well except $. As far as the UFC brass letting him get his way.. you have to remember what they did to him in the first place. They set him up vs BJ, took it away, set him up vs GSP, took it away, set him up vs Koschek, took it away. They have not given him his way in anything up until this point so it isn't like they are bending over backwards. For one moment guys, pretend you were in his shoes. Would you rather fight for 5million dollars vs top 3 P4P fighter on the planet for a real title or fight for $500,000 vs a guy that is only a contender, never been a champ, for an interim belt. EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this thread would choose the former. If you say otherwise, I simply call BS. MHO.
Omelette Platter- March 14, 2012 at 9:06 am
@Fletch : i can't say i disagree with you - if i had a shot to fight gsp for fame and tons of money, i'd want it to. i am, however, disappointed in the ufc brass if they let condit get his way. we have a healthy, prepared (interim) champ and a viable contender. and realistically, condit *should* be able to fight in june or so (four months off) and, should he be victorious, he's got another five months until the anticipated november return for gsp. y'know, unless he feels his last win was a fluke and he's afraid to lose his belt before gsp gets back, i can't see why he *wouldn't* want to fight again, make some money, and prove that he really deserves that strap.
2Dogs- March 14, 2012 at 7:20 am
oh yea, an thats why I love Mr. Bas Rutten...he said it right there as a parting shot.
2Dogs- March 14, 2012 at 7:16 am
I dont have a problem with the way condit fought againt nick either...but I will tell you this...I would rather wach the rematch. I think Nick wont stand and bang while Condit runs around on, I think Nick will pull his arms and legs off, if he survives or wins...ya, then put him up to GSP. We KNOW Nick is a contender for sure.
knucklesamitch- March 14, 2012 at 7:08 am

Have you not heard of a fellow named Rashad Evans?
Fletch the V Stretch- March 14, 2012 at 7:04 am
I agree with you JFAEITSS. It isn't him at all. Let's be honest. He can fight GSP and make 3 times as much money or he can fight Jake Ellenberger for a 1/3 of the money. Not to mention he has the chance to fight GSP, beat GSP, and get catapulted into "one of the greats" talk. There is just 10x more positives even from a loss to GSP than there is from a win against Hendricks/Ellenberger.
Jon Fitch and Exciting in the same sentence- March 14, 2012 at 5:32 am
I don't blame him. Sucks for the fans though. But he's got a golden opportunity. It's not him, it's the situation.
