Zuffa’s lengthy blacklist of companies who aren’t allowed to sponsor fighters just increased by one very notable name. Brace yourself, fans of responsible sex — CondomDepot.com‘s logo will no longer be gracing the backs of any UFC/WEC fighters’ shorts. From CondomDepot marketing director Jennifer Amato, via BloodyElbow:

We have been notified that we have been Banned From the UFC and WEC!
We have provided fighters 100′s of thousands of dollars DIRECTLY over the last 2 years but can no longer do so! Not to mention word came down during AIDS awareness month!!
UFC a Classy Organization runned by an even Classier Guy."
These sponsor-bannings usually result from either personal vendettas (see: Affliction, Dethrone, and RVCA‘s sponsorship of Fedor Emelianenko) or the UFC’s understandable desire to present their brand in the best possible light (see: Hoelzer Reich). It’s not clear if anything hostile happened behind the scenes between CondomDepot and Zuffa, but you have to admit that the phrase "Condom Depot" on a man’s ass was suggestive in a very unfortunate way. Still, fighters have to feed their families, and the UFC doesn’t always make it easy for them to do so.

The irony of a company called "Condom Depot" lecturing another organization on class. I think Condom Depot first appeared on Andre Arlovski's ass shortly before his departure from the UFC, and I remember sitting there and saying, "Does that say 'Condom Depot' on his ass?". That being said, I definitely wouldn't put CD in the same category as Hoelzer Reich, and Dana does have a habit of banning sponsors for extremely childish reasons.

pretty ridiculous. i love some of the fights ufc puts on here and there, but moves like this..the cost of their PPV events (how about lowering the price on shoddy fight card ppv's??) are just a few reasons why i wont ever purchase a ppv from the ufc. money mongerers!

I totally understand the Hoelzer Reich ban, but Condom Depot? It's not like your market your product to the 9-14 male demographic. Most of us are well above that age and seeing the word "condom" is hardly offensive. I'd like to hear the UFC's reasoning on this one.

Some of the things Jennifer Amato says are fucking classic. "Not to mention word came down during AIDS awareness month!!" Is sponsoring MMA with condom depot going to save anyone from getting Aids? I always thought Spencer, Josh, Gabe, Jake and everyone else simply sported the logo and collected money from a site that sold a shit ton of condoms at a discount price, but apparently they are preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases...condom depot really was a beacon of light in a dark world...I hope Dana knows what he is doing, the raw-dogging statistics are about to go through the roof.

Catalyst I think they're doing it because they want more legit sponsors. Condom depot is a huge sponsor but at the same time its kind of a joke. They want more mainstream products, I don't mean they're going to get a Pepsi contract but they don't want to be branded as the fight company who is also teamed up with the bulk condom surplus store.

Dana White doesn't own the UFC. The UFC is owned by Zuffa, which is owned by the Fertitta Brothers. Dana White owns 10% of Zuffa and is the President of the UFC. He makes pretty much all the executive decisions, but he doesn't have a higher level of ownership than the Fertitta's, not even close. And hey, on the up side Condom Depot can still sponsor WarMachine's prison shorts! God knows he needs the protection.
