whoaaaaa, adw you have this shit all messed around...you are saying that the worst possible strategy fighting Anderson Silva is trying to stand and trade with him, but then you go on to state that even people who try and take him down will eventually fail because of his black blet in BJJ. Based on your intepretation their is absolutely no way any fighter will beat Anderson Silva because quite frankly he is the best all around fighter at 185 pounds...doesn't it make more sense then that one fighter puts all his eggs in one basket and whole heartedly admits that the only way he is going to beat Silva is through his devastating one punch power, whether it be luck or not. At least Cote isn't kidding himself saying that he is a better fighter then Silva, he is saying that he can knock him out if he hits him.

Simlarly, to say that everyone Cote has fought is not at the same level as Silva is strange because prior to the Cote - Almeida fight everyone was saying that Almedia would be the chance at a challenge for Silva.

Cote has as good a chance as anyone does at defeating Anderson silva, no one else at 185 pounds has demonstrated the ability to absorb the punishment delivered from Silva in order to return his own brand of punishment. Until someone with good standup and a good ground game comes along Anderson will be at the top of the 185 pound division, it is silly right now to insult his challengers because for the most part he is just far more well rounded then all of them.

@Marcel: I am glad that you are so optimistic and into the whole "be the ball" positive thinking thing, but let's get serious here. Patrick Cote is one dimensional striker. He has heavy hands but is not very technical and his ground skills are not even considered to be dangerous. The only thing that he is good at is throwing punches and standing toe-to-toe. Now lets remember that he will be throwing punches and standing toe-to-to with Anderson Silva.

That is the WORST possible strategy. He should be saying that he will try to close the distance and take him down or something, which also is not a good idea because of Silva BLACK BELT in BJJ. Going into a fight thinking "I'm going to knock out Anderson Silva!" is just not smart. if Cote was an unorthodox fighter and has some kind of crazy punches or kicks than maybe he would stand a chance. But he fights in a traditional way. All of the people that you listed that Cote has fought aren't anywhere near the same level as Silva

Cote has a Matt Serra's chance of winning. It could happen..but not likely. Anderson has a good chin too.

Im sure this is gunna be a cakewalk for Silva but just int he back of my mind it seems eerily similar to the whole GSP and Serra bout. Just throwing it out there.
