Countdown to UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz [VIDEOS]

(Props: JoeHandPromotions via MMAConvert)

From last night’s Spike TV broadcast previewing UFC 133 on August 6th. Listening to Tito Ortiz retell the story of his redemptive victory over Ryan Bader, it’s hard not to view Ortiz as a sympathetic figure — the “good guy” in his matchup against Rashad Evans — especially since MMA fans still resent Evans for killing Chuck Liddell. Parts 2-4 of “Countdown to UFC 133″ are after the jump, running down the Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama co-main event, as well as the welterweight feature between Rory MacDonald and Mike Pyle. Check it out while it lasts…

After looking at those rankings, I was not familiar with the name Roger Gracie (lets be honest they breed like rabbits) and I scratched my noggin why he was ranked so highly (19th) with only 4 Wins?

After looking up Roger Gracie, I was blown away at by his BJJ Grappling record of (65-7.) Of his 7 losses only one man has bested him more than once(3 times.) A 30 year old - 205 pounder named Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro.

Wholly shit, Xande Ribeiro's head is fucking bigger than Tito's!

Since we are talking re-biths, if Tito gets a meal pass, why Chuck?

Yes Rashad is now one negroe that is roaming the earth, but as Morningwood said, he moans like a bitch, when he ought to learn roar like a Lion.

Question for you, didn't CP recently have a thread not about Fred, but about the Jackson camp? I thought that there is some fucking truth to the fact that when a fighter (example: Diego Sanchez) leaves the Jackson Family, their winning ways exaporate fast???

As a side note, viewing above that Chocholate Al is still ranked I have to wonder why he was retired. Sure he lost 5 out of his last 6 fights, but this was nearly identical to that of Tito (16-8-1).

The fact is even to this day Liddell (21-8) boasts a much better record. So what gives? I would bet money that the Ice Man would always bring in a bigger receipt over the Huntington Beach Boogie Boarder (hahah fucking kook.)

When looking their loss stats, the biggest difference in their 8 losses apiece is the Decision - KO/TKO - Submission records.

Liddell has only tapped 1 time, where Ortiz has tapped 2 times.

Liddell has only 1 decision loss, where Ortiz has 4.

Liddell was KO/TKO 6 times, where Ortiz only 2 times

What is better for a Cage Potato? To see a man tap, or to see him get knocked out?

I agree completely about him suddenly being number one contender, but it's all about timing and opportunity. If he beats Rashad after Bader, you can't argue that he deserves the shot though. Those are two very game opponents, especially Suga.

Sidenote: I didn't like how Rashad took a page out of Rampage's book with the whole "it's another person in there fighting, not me." Thought that was kinda bullshit.

Toto says that "when he had his hand raised (against Bader), it was the raddest feeling he ever had, eve better than when he won the world title."

If we look at the standings (from Fight Matrix) a couple things become immediately obvious. Toto is a long, long way from ever deserving a title shot. Let's not forget, he himself said it was more exhilarated at winning a single fight for the first time in over 5 years, than even thinking about a title shot.

Let me remind, over the same 5 year period, the new champion Jon Jones was fresh out of high school, and not one person here had ever heard of him.

In only 3 years, Jones was able to secure 13 consecutive wins (I've thrown out the Hamill DQ) and surely would have had 14 straight victories if he had not made a rookies mistake for illegal downward elbows when he was in his first year of competition.

At best, TO is ranked where he belongs, a gatekeeper. My money is on Rashad Evans.

1 Jon Jones 13-1-0

2 Rashad Evans 18-1-1

3 Quinton Jackson 32-8-0

4 Mauricio Rua 19-5-0

It's kinda cool. Ortiz's rebirth. And Rashad roaming the earth after leaving his old pack at Jackson's. Heck maybe he's going to start fighting differently.

I don't know. I have a feeling Ortiz might just win this one.
