Cro Cop to Fight “Mighty Mo" at Dream.10

Maybe Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic wasn’t kidding about wanting to pack as many fights as possible into the years he has left, because SI.com’s Josh Gross is reporting that he’s agreed to fight K-1 kickboxer and occasional MMA fighter “Mighty” Mo Siliga at Dream.10 on July 20 in Japan. So take that all you people who said Cro Cop wasn’t serious about fighting the best heavyweights in the world. Siliga is an impressive 3-1 in MMA, with his last victory against the always tough available Ruben “Warpath” Villareal a little over two years ago. The guy’s no Mostapha Al-Turk, but at least he's not one of those annoying/bad-ass wrestlers that populate the UFC's heavyweight class.
So what does this mean for the ongoing debate about Cro Cop’s character in light of his decision to bolt the UFC? Well, it at least tells us that he really does want to fight more often, so much so that he’s willing to put quantity way ahead of quality. He’s taking this fight just a little over a month out from his last one. Of course, fighting a kickboxer with not much else in the arsenal ought to be a pretty easy fight for him, just as his last one was, so it’s not exactly as if he’s trying to test himself against the best guys around.
If you’re Cro Cop’s financial manager (picture a scary Croatian guy with a crowbar and an adding machine), you have to like this career trajectory. He’s fighting in Japan, where they love watching him kick the hell out of overmatched opponents, and he wants to do it as often as they can scrape together an event, which means a steady stream of paychecks.
It may not be the best thing for his legacy as a legitimate, credible fighter, but chances are he doesn’t care. You saw where he grew up. As long as he can afford a nice crib with a high fence to keep out aggressive women and gigantic loose dogs, he’s already beaten the odds.

I've been a big fan of CP for a while but I do not like how they are constantly trying to bring down Mirko now. We get it, he didn't want to be in the UFC, so what. He has already tested himself against the "best guys" (according to CP rankings and my personal opinion) by beating Josh Barnett(several times), Mark Coleman, Heath Herring, Wanderlei Silva. He lost to high quality opponents like Big Nog and of course Fedor. The man is already a legend, sure there are plenty of great HW in the UFC that he might not even be able to beat, but I don't care, I will watch him fight wherever he ends up.

If Dana White was as fucking smart as everyone thinks he is after Cro Cop's first fight in the UFC with Sanchez (just like he did after Anderson Silva's 1st fight with Leben) he would have set up a title fight with Couture and Cro Cop. Which would have been fucking huge.
A lot bigger than Cro Cop/Gonzaga or Couture/Gonzaga, but this is another example of Dana White escaping criticism because he struck gold with a reality show and everyone thinks he's a fucking genius.

I believe Cro Cop got a 1 fight deal to help sell the German UFC debut. Dana needed him but didn't want to look like he offered a 1 fight deal. He played it up too much. "I never make deals on the phone, blah, blah, blah." They used each other and we bought it.
