All right, Cro Cop. We were willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on the whole UFC/Dream fiasco. But now you’re making that difficult by alternating between statements that seem doubtful and those that seem completely ridiculous.
In this new translated interview Cro Cop claims that he hasn’t signed with Dream yet, which is a direct contradiction of what one Dream official told USA Today. Then he says that he still wants the UFC belt but decided not to sign with them because they weren’t going to give him another fight until six months from now, and that’s too long a layoff for a guy trying to pack as much action as he can into the years he has left. But it doesn’t really get fun until he decides to blame Mostapha Al-Turk for the eye-poke. Seriously.

I did. But it was not a strong hit. I literally brushed him. It was more of pushing him away and he just ran in to it. I looked at the judge and he said to keep going. I’m here to fight, right? But there is not a chance that played an important role. He was nearly finished from my strikes before that.
Good point, Cro Cop. That really was unsporting of Al-Turk to make you poke him in the eye like that. Kind of like when you insisted on throwing your junk in the path of Alistair Overeem’s knees. That proved to be a bad idea. But hey, you were there to fight, right?

I think this might be a language-translation issue. I don't think CC was saying Al-Turk didn't need to make him poke him; he might have been saying it wasn't an intentional poke [which I still believe] and that since he looked to the ref to see if action was going to be stopped and didn't get any indication, he had a responsibility to keep fighting. I'm not a big CC fan, but I think this is being blown waaaay out of proportion. I also think time will tell regarding the DREAM signing. One official doesn't make an iron-clad case, and USAtoday isn't necessarily a wellspring of tried-and-true MMAnews. rh

Here's something that no one has mentioned yet. In all likelihood he realized it when he poked Al-Turk in the eye. But he didn't stop. Then he saw Al-Turk's reaction, which made it fairly obvious his eye was injured. But Cro Cop didn't stop. This reminds me of the situation when Matt Hughes said Trigg kicked him in the nuts but kept going anyway. Apparently, fighters know when they kick their opponent's groin. I'd imagine the same is true with eye pokes. Cro Cop is dead to me.

K not sure who changed it, but Ill look for the other translated copies that are up, and in both of the others that Ive read, neither had "He didn't have to do that thing with the eye though." or him mention about being brushed ect.ect.. Not too sure what to think of it now either way though? Usually the UFC announces publicly when someone is let go or doesnt renew, and during the broadcast they made it seem as though he was back and even mentions in his post fight inteview about fighting Couture and Mintotauro. But then in the other Interview released yesterday I think, he mentioned that Dana/UFC wasnt giving him another fight for 6months and no guaranteed title shots so he was trying to get it changed(schedule) and that was the main reason for him not signing as of yet and that he hadnt signed with Dream although he was thinking of it because all contractual, signed agreements were fullfilled so he is'/was free to go were ever. If Dana could sign him to a 1fight deal he coulda got him to sign a 3fight bout agreement, which afaik he'd have to sign one before being allowed or cleared to fight? If Al-Turk were REALLY there to fight, he would've opened up his hand too, and position it perpendicularly, thus negating Moe-cop's eye-poke technique. But that's textbook Stooge-jitzu technique. If not for the subsequent flurry that ended the fight, Al-Turk would have countered the attempted eye poke by grabbing Crocop by the nose and smashing his face into an Octogon support post.
