Match-ups between four Strikeforce stand-out fighters are being discussed for a potential October CBS-broadcasted event according to various industry sources.
MMAFighting reports that although he is noncommital whether one of the bouts — a light heavyweight tilt between Dan Henderson and Renato "Bablu" Sobral will happen on the card, if indeed at all, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker wouldn’t rule out the possibility that the fight could take place on the rumored October CBS show.
According to Henderson’s manager Aaron Crecy, his client has been told to be ready for a fall bout and said that Sobral is an opponent they would accept, he hasn’t been named as a possible opponent by Strikeforce yet.
"We don’t have a date," he said. "I’ve heard October or November, but I don’t know that anyone knows for sure just yet. I don’t think he cares [who his opponent is]," he said. "I think the one talking about that fight is Babalu. Dan hasn’t said much about it, but Dan doesn’t usually care one way or the other. He’s more focused on locking up a date. As far as who he’s facing? He doesn’t care.""
Sobral’s manager, Richard Wilner says they haven’t been offered Henderson as an opponent, but mentioned that that’s a fight they would be interested in at any weight.
"We want the [Henderson] fight. We think it makes sense for both fighters, and objectively speaking, we think it’s a pretty marketable fight. We haven’t been offered the fight but we’re pushing it and hoping for it, and Dan at least in the media, has seemed agreeable to it," said Wilner. ""[Babalu would] love to fight at 195, 205 or even at heavyweight," Wilner said. "He’s not opposed to going up, but going down further to 185 is tough unless it was something really major. He walks around at 218 or 220, so 185 is a big cut for him. It would have to be a big name fight. Babalu is a fine diner and his wife is one hell of a cook."
Also being discussed for the card is a grudge match between two fighters involved in the the Strikeforce Nashville brawl in April: Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Nick Diaz. Miller spoke about the possibility on Joe Rogan’s above video Podcast (around the 5:50 mark), saying that although nothing is official , he has spoken to Strikeforce about the possibility of facing Diaz in October when his suspension for the CBS-televised incident is over.

How many UFC rejects can they fit into one CBS card? Whooo hoooo
