Dana White Confirms, Houston Alexander Has Served His Purpose

We knew this was coming.  Talking with Fanhouse’s Ariel Helwani, UFC president Dana White confirms that Houston Alexander does not have a future in the UFC after his dismal performance against Kimbo Slice at last weekend’s TUF 10 Finale.  Hardly surprising, right?  Alexander had already been run out of the UFC once, and was only brought back because he seemed like a beatable opponent for Kimbo (which he was) with a modicum of name value.  He lost, he looked bad doing it, and so he’s fired again.  Everything here is going according to script.

But remember when Roy Nelson jokingly referred to himself as the UFC’s official suckmeter?  Remember when he said that he was going to be the guy who, if you couldn’t beat him, it meant you didn’t belong in the UFC?  You thinking what I’m thinking here, dog?

"it looked like two obese teenagers trying to lose their virgninity"

That's the best description of that fight that I've ever heard.

The only reason Houston Alexander even got the Kimbo fight is because they wanted the old reckless Alexander. If he had turned in an exciting fight - even if he had been KO'd - he would have earned himself a permanent slot on Fight Nights with the likes of the Lebens and Lytles. I guarantee it. I mean, he was fighting Kimbo in a fight that got millions of new viewers who would have wanted to see more of an exciting fighter. Instead, he played it so safe, no one would want to see more of him. It was an amaturish performance. He actually made Kimbo look like the more experienced fighter. Think about that for a second. Yeah. Mind-blowing.

@ WayneBullet

At the end of the day, regardless of whether Dana has a halo over his head or not, he's there to draw an audience and make money.

Kimbo has an audience so he gets the better pay.

It fuckin' sucks. I'll be the first to admit it.

History teaches us that Dana's word holds very little weight.

Neither Houston or Kimbo should have a contract in the UFC after that fight. They can go box. That was a horrible display of MMA. When they brought it to the ground, it looked like two obese teenagers trying to lose their virgninity.

Dana is really looking like a chump in my eyes with the Kimbo thing. First he says, he will have no career ever in UFC. Then he says he fights his way through the Ultimate Fighter then he can, he didn't, but what the heck we will give him a fight anyway. Then he pays him more than the guys who have wins.

I have seen the videos online of this guy and they look fake to me. Then I see him fight for real and that almost proves they were.
PhilDZnutts- December 10, 2009 at 6:52 pm
So Dana is going to cut a guy that he brought in to lose? This is hard for me to believe.

I'm with OBI. I want a Rothwell/Nelson rematch. I think Big Country got ripped off the first time.

If they want to give Kimbo somebody, Mittrione's my pick. Two TUF guys without ground skills who will stand and throw punches until one of them drops. Loser leaves. If we're lucky, so will the winner.

if houston could have come out and fought hard and pushed the pace, i guarantee he could have beaten up kimbo. especially after hammering his knee and with his speed over kimbos. shoulda come out fighting hard. he may have won...AND...he would still have a job
Kimbos Bread- December 10, 2009 at 5:17 pm
Dana can go fuck himself.

Houston was one of my favs. He wasn't amazing, but then there are alot of not-so-amazing figthers making a living in the UFC.

Hmmm...

So maybe he DIDN'T throw that fight like some of us (well, me) speculated.
Dr Garbo- December 10, 2009 at 3:44 pm
How dare they can Houston after such an amazing fight...If your gonna get rid of someone it should be for not pushing the pace..HE left it all in the cage... Im surprised Kimbo made it out of the cage alive after such a vicious beating

"You thinking what I'm thinking here, dog?"

Are you thinking about eating a sandwich?

'Cause that's what I'm thinking!

Yes, yes....Kimbo vs Roy - Part Duece.

...we all see it coming....yet none of us care.

I wanna see an IFL throwback with Rothwell vs Nelson!
skeletor- December 10, 2009 at 3:34 pm
that's to bad, how are his 12 kids gonna eat? Now I don't want to jump to any conclusions here but does anyone know what happened to these kids mother(s). I'd like to know before I come off as some sort of racist.
