So, I attended the UFC press conference in Toronto yesterday and I had a brief chance to interview UFC president Dana White and his company’s new director of Canadian operations, Tom Wright.

During my interview with White, I had him cracking up with a few Photoshops I brought along and asked him to identify the names of ten famous Ontarians depicted in a photo collage. He got all but one correct: Neil Young, but in his defense, it was a trick question as Young was born in Manitoba and grew up in Ontario.


I broke the ice early in the exchange by informing him that we had photographic proof that Shields isn’t re-signing with Strikeforce, before handing him this:

He thought it was hilarious, and before I had a chance to follow up with my second question, he ruined the punchline by reading ahead to the next shop in the book.

I was going to ask him if, because Rampage seems so disgruntled, there’s a possibility that if he were to get a shot at Rua and beat him, he may take the belt and go back to Hollywood.

The plan was to point out this photo and suggest that maybe he could co-star alongside Tiki this time around:


This one did it. Dana was now cracking up, tears in his eyes.

I told him he may as well check out the last one and again, he seemed genuinely amused.

I have video of the interview, but because it went off the rails a bit with Dana breaking up, and cockblocking my follow up questions, it turned out to be more of a casual conversation between dudes than an actual interview, so I’m debating whether or not to post it.

At least we have his secondary reaction to the pics on his vlog…
