Dana White is back with another installment of his self aggrandizing video blogs and he’s rubbing in our faces how much better his life is than ours is again.
In this edition, White hangs out with former multiple time world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson and the conversation inevitably turns to the Randy Couture-James Toney bout set for Saturday night in Boston at UFC 118.
Tyson calls the bout intriguing, but seems to be leaning towards Couture as the favorite. The most interesting comments made by Iron Mike in the video were regarding Toney’s personality.
"Toney’s a crazy guy. He’s a really dark kind of crazy guy…. ha…ha..ha..ha..ha!!"
When Mike Tyson calls you dark and crazy, it might be time to re-examine things.

commentsCmon Dana ... you know his name. That was some pretencious BS.
Time to reexamine some shit, Dana.
Tyson left good people, especially once his trainer died and he started fucking hookers, catching gonorrhea, and doing drugs. Days before his boxing fights. Even the night before some cases.
Tyson didn't need to have a great boxing style, or be that smart in peoples gameplans in MMA. All he had to do was hit people. Actually his head movement was pretty amazing too. And like Fedor, he was also a lot quicker than most people he faced. The fucker in 4oz gloves would literally be one punching people. Then again he'd probably be breaking his hands a lot.
I don't know, I think if Tyson was 16 and went the MMA way he'd be great. He was just an athletic talent and hit like a wrecking machine. He was pretty low to the ground and thick and I think his TDD would be legit. Plus he intiminated the shit out of people. Carwins Punching Power
What I mean is, it may be that our reality's Tyson would fare best in MMA out of all possible Tysons, but it may also be that the Tyson clone that we raise in Brazil as a BJJ guy is the baddest dude ever, with Dan Quinn's clone from the world where he learned TKD is second best. It's truly impossible to have any indication who would do what except for what they have done. We know that Tyson was the most ferocious dude ever, and had a tragic fall. We also know that Dan Quinn is clearly not the second baddest dude on the planet. After Saturday, we'll know what happens when one particular over the hill boxer meets one particular past his prime MMA fighter.
We'll also know if a fake Irishman can draw strength from all of the terrible scally caps in Southie
Maybe I'm just being a nuthugger, but I think that once Don King trash got a hold of him, Tyson was ruined. If he had stuck with Rooney and the guys that helped make him a champ, and if Holyfield hadn't been allowed to headbutt at will, and if Douglas hadn't been given a long count, Tyson could very well have gone undefeated. Of course, if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.
I remember watching the Douglas fight with every member of my extended family at my Grandmother's house, and it was absolutely devastating to me when he didn't get up. Douglas absolutely got a long count that night, and Tyson wasn't physically beaten, but you could see on his face that he didn't want to get up.
It's tough to say what he would've taken to and what he wouldn't have, but I don't agree with you when you say he didn't have the technical nuances. The man used angles and ducks and dodges like nobody else.
If Tyson were an MMA dude, the world would have to be a totally different place, so it's impossible to say how he would have dealt with wrestlers or BJJ guys. I feel like he was talented enough, and such a natural fighter and yes, disciplined(prior to falling in with Don King and the rest of the scum) enough to make adjustments. Of course, we'll never know.
ANYWAY, Couture should beat Toney and nothing will be proven except that one middle aged dude can beat another
"Mumbles isn't THAT dark, is he?"
For the record, I think James Toney is approximately 70% pure Cacao.
I disagree that he would have been a wrecking machine in MMA. It would be stupid to argue that he wouldn't have power that would make Shane Carwin's punches look like my sister's. He would certainly knock out quite a few people. But I think MMA would be too nuanced for him. For all of Tyson's vaunted study of opponents in boxing, he mainly breaks it down to studying their personalities, attitudes, and demeanor. Ultimately, he never showed the best game planning or implementation of fundamentals and technique. He didn't need to. He went out there and knocked people's heads off. That isn't to say he had poor technique, but when he wasn't able to just destroy his opponent and was drawn into a more technical war, he got frustrated and showed his weaknesses. Although, he had a lot of mental issues in those days, too.
He was just never had the most nuanced boxing technique, and I just think MMA is much more nuanced when it comes to wrestling and jiu-jitsu. If Tyson were brought into those worlds where he couldn't use his crushing power, I think he would struggle and quickly be out of his depth. He'd probably get a decent amount of KO's, though.
Fuck a face tattoo- Dana should get a hair tattoo, sort of a permanent rendition of a tasteful toupee.
Ron Popiel would be proud.
I wonder what it's like when he orders a burger at the local drive through joint..."Yeah I want a double fucking cheese burger, hold the fucking mayo, no mustard either, I hate that shit". Damn dude. I'm not offended or anything, I actually think it's pretty comical. But you'd think most rich and powerful people might try to speak in a little more civilized manner.

Tysons awesome. One of the greatest, yet troubled, boxers of all time. The power and explosiveness he had was so unique. Too bad he was sort of a headcase, but I guess that's how it always goes. I wish I could've seen some of his fights live.
If no one has seen the documentary titled "Tyson" I suggest you check it out, it's a great bio of Tyson with him mostly retelling his life. Very honest dude, and it has some great training footage.
Too bad MMA wasn't big back then, because if he started training that instead of boxing when he was 13-14, he would've dominated this sport too. 4oz gloves? fuck. haha."
For some reason I was on Sherdog the other day, and there was a thread about fantasy matchups, and I realized that if you just take 16 year old Tyson back in the 80s and he meets, say, Bob Shamrock instead of Cus, he wouldn't necessarily become this all time wrecking machine that he was in boxing. The reason being that Tyson is well known for studying every important prize fight that ever happened, and back then there just wasn't enough MMA tape to study, and there arguably still isn't.
Sure, he might go on to kick everyone's ass, and maybe with a little TDD and some BJJ classes he'd be the Black Fedor and the best of all time. Of course, maybe he wouldn't take to it and would burn out on drugs and pussy that much faster. The fact remains that Tyson was a truly special boxer and there may never again be anyone in combat sports like him, at least not in our lifetime.
My feeling is that he would've destroyed in MMA until his mentor's death, but that's pure speculation
i can't sit thru this boring thing waiting for it....
