Dead Leg!

I don’t know about you guys, but where I come from we refer to the above behavior as "screwing around."  Clearly Thales Leites didn’t show up with the intention of bringing the fight to Silva last night, so he shares some of the blame for the most unsatisfying main event since, well, Silva vs. Cote.  But when Silva starts fighting like a sixth grade bully, more intent on making you look stupid than on actually hurting you, it’s hard to argue that he performed like a champ. 

Leites may have flopped around on the mat for five rounds, but what did any of us really expect from him?  Silva, on the other hand, is supposed to be the holy terror of the UFC.  We’re all very impressed at the cool stuff he can pull off during a fight, but we’re way more impressed when one of those cool things is knocking people out.

I guess that sentence can be read in different ways so even though you read it the wrong way you're still technically right about the Ben's never saying that he did.

My excuse for bad grammar, spelling etc is the fact that english isn't my native language. I don't know what your excuse is and I don't really care to be honest.

I completely agree with you on the hypocrite bullshit with Machida and Silva, and agree that Silva ran that fight. But, Machida and Silva's last two fights have been fucking boring nonetheless.

Perhaps Anderson didn't want to hurt Thales. They are both Brazilian and he just wanted to be a nice guy and not kill him. Or perhaps he doesn't care about the UFC or fighting and likes the get paid to screw around for 25 minutes. Remember a couple of months ago when Anderson said he would quit after about 5 more fights and Dana said no way. Maybe he is just fucking with Dana.

What pisses me off is this site downing Silva for what was an absolutely dominant performance. Sure he did some dancing, and sure he did some funny things attacking the front leg of Thales Leites but lets fucking face it, when Lyoto Machida did this shit you guys called him "skillful, and elusive". When Anderson Silva does it, you say it's boring? You guys are fucking hypocrits. Anderson Silva DOMINATED EVERY EXCHANGE from that fight. He controlled the pace, the octagon, and Thales Leites. The fact that you guys are blasting him for fighting a perfect fight doesn't make any fucking sense to me and for that you lose 2 of my wholly intangible points.

Silva absolutely dominated this fight...and deserves absolutely no criticism. Back floppers should stay in the pool, not in a championship fight. All dissatisfaction should be put upon Leites who was an absolute joke.

Not anderson fault for this one. Leithes wasnt ready for the title shot.

For the Cote fight I'll blame it on Silva though..... Coté was walking forward the whole match and was clearly not affraid of a punch, he was just unable to set up a punch because Silva was not engaging..

You could tell, in what the third round that Anderson was pissed because that side kick to the knee was intended to brake his leg...Hasn’t anyone on these forums ever played sports you usually play up to the competition …He had none!!!!! It’s hard to do moves when the guy is doing nothing. A person with a game plan is setting things up…Leites wasn’t doing anything but trying not to be hit..Anderson was pissed that u can see but you play to the competition. Diana needs to be pissed that he sent a boy out to face a man what did he expect!!!!!

I cant believe Silva is taking this much shit after that fight, yes the first round was a bit of a joke for both fighters.

But the rest of the fight Silva was easily the better fighter everyone saw it and the 2 fighters could see it aswell.

Why should he have to risk his win and his belt just to please some blood hungry muppets, of which i didnt expect the CP writers to be in agreement with.

Hard to believe the writers on this website; I agree with previous posters, you guys have generally given witty and educated perspective in the past, but are way off here. You're seriously shitting the bed it's pretty annoying to read. Give your head's a shake and stop acting like drunken fans booing a technical fight. What's next? Goddamn, that was one of the most lackluster fights I've ever seen since Arlovski-Sylvia 3. I understand where a lot of these people are coming from about how Silva wasn't about to go get hurt and how Leites was the challenger that wasn't doing any sort of challenging. But, I also think that Anderson had PLENTY of chances to just pound Leites and come out with minimal damage, if any at all. I think a champion deserves every right to defend and not have to just try to destroy the opponent, but come the fuck on. Be entertaining. And not the kind of entertaining that involves weird-ass twitch-dancing (that was pretty funny).
Can anyone give me a fight that Fedor has been boring in ever since he whooped Nogueira?

Off-topic, I'm glad Shogun won, but sad that Chuck is done. That camera shot after the card was CLASSIC when it showed Chuck all disappointed and Rua is behind him talking on the jumboscreen. LOL!

A terrible analogy. Anderson was more like a team that benches its best players from minute 1 of the first quarter -- after benching its best players throughout the entire previous game as well.

On a side note, and this might seem like bullshit; but I once fought Anderson Silva in a Sao Paulo samba bar. It was apparently over the honor of a woman. He landed a couple of quick thigh punches, so I flopped guard, but then he began raining ferocious blows down upon me with a bar stool. I began to tap against the high heeled shoe of a woman who had sidled up to the bar to watch the fight (she claiming something about being the victim of an "upskirt" photo), but Mr. Silva must not have seen it. I was beaten most unmerciful.

I'm blown away by any criticism Silva is taking on this one. As soon as he realized Leites was going to "flop guard" everytime there was an exchange, he went after him even harder. He tried to embarass Leites out of his strategy in order to make the fight happen. Every time Leites flopped he stood over him with his hands on his hips shaking his head. He punched the man in the foot for God's sake. Thiago conceded the match in the second and decided that he would try and save face by not being knocked out. If Thiago had acted like a proper underdog (in the biggest fight of his career) and stood in there swinging for the fence then he would have been knocked out cold. But that's what he should have done. He should face the same scorn heaped on Kalib Starnes.

Not Silva's fault to be so god damn good at defending his belt. Hell if I was his opponent I would go all out because the only thing I would have on my mind is winning the TITLE not crawl around and wait for the defender to give me the title.

It is fine if it was on HDNET but I paid for it and feel let down. Twice in a row with this guy. We were arguing over who would lose and we found out, it was us. All I have to say to you guys screaming technique and Silva fought a good fight, explain to me why it took 4 minutes of the first to even get a drippage of action?

Just bull shit. I bet if you guys were in the crowd and watching the two guys in the ring doing less than you in the crowd, you'd be pissed.

I just woke up from his 5 round dance-a-thon.
Wtf is Anderson doing it felt like I was watching some sparring match just let him up so you can dance around some more. This fight made the Cote one look action packed.
Liddell might have gotten beat but at least he tries to KO mofos and not worrying about taking no damage from a opponent who isn't on the same level as you. Put Anderson in there vs any 8year old and I bet we see the same fight.
