‘Don’t Be Scared Homey’ Is Pretty Much the Official Slogan of Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II

(Props: youtube.com/shosports)

It’s not quite Nick Diaz vs. Jason Miller, but Strikeforce is going to do its very best to convince you that Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons — who’s fighting for the title in his Strikeforce welterweight debut! — is the grudge match you’ve been begging for. And how do they plan on accomplishing that? By staying on message. As you’ll see, the famous phrase "Don’t be scared, homey" pops up twice in this one-minute hype clip for Strikeforce’s next event at San Jose’s HP Pavilion on October 9th. Which begs the question: If "DBS,H" is the theme of the night, why not hold the event in Stockton? What, too real for you guys? Violent crime rate too high? Pussies.

At this point, only two other fights have been booked for the Showtime broadcast of Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II. After earning her employers’ respect with a slam-knockout of Roxanne Modafferi at the last Challengers card, 135-pound champion Sarah Kaufman will make her next title defense against Marloes Coenen, who was sacrificed to Cris Cyborg earlier this year at Strikeforce: Miami. Also, Matt Lindland will follow up his TKO win over Kevin Casey with a bout against hot middleweight prospect Luke Rockhold (7-1), who has ended all six of his Strikeforce appearances by first-round stoppage, including wins over Jesse Taylor and Cory Devela. Christ, good luck Matt.

i have been waiting for this fight for the full 3 years. it was a very bad early stoppage. Nick looked like he was on drugs for that fight. walking into every punch like an idiot. i think he was going through a drug phase. thank god for strikeforce! this fight would never have happened if not for them. lets do this and then when diego sanchez gets released by ufc we can rematch that one too!!
WAR DIAZ!!
ps mayhem should get his after Joe Diesel gets his ass whipped lol.

WAR DIAZ!!

SumDumGuy- August 31, 2010 at 11:00 pm
Did anybody else follow the "don't be scared, Homey" link in the text to see how CP thoroughly dropped proverbial ball on this classic moment in MMA history when it had just happened. I guess hind sight is 20/20
ghostboner- August 31, 2010 at 10:48 pm
And throw in a trash can and a folding chair!!! edit: And a drug test!

Ok, for the recoed, my future wife Marloes did about as well as anyone has against Cymanborg. Obviously she lost, but she did pretty damn good all things (penises) considered. So let's not be saying she got sacrificed to Cyborg.

"KJ Noons" is perhaps the most hilariously unfortunate name ever.
fatbellyfrank- August 31, 2010 at 8:45 pm
Or maybe father &son, Noons v's Couture's
fatbellyfrank- August 31, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Well only if we go tag team with this shit.
Mr_Misanthropy- August 31, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Can we add the Calvancantes, Millers, Cyborgs, and Emelianenkos just to increase the hype?
Almost North- August 31, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Lets throw in the Lauzons and the shamrocks and make this a 4 way family rumble.
fatbellyfrank- August 31, 2010 at 5:42 pm
Yeah Diaz family v Noons family for the Royal Rumble champeenship, and Marloes on the same card, I'll buy that for a dollar
MediumRare- August 31, 2010 at 3:45 pm
It's not Strikeforce's fault they're lame. It's like blaming a downs kid for being funny-looking.

That being said, I'm looking forward to it.
El Guapo- August 31, 2010 at 3:34 pm
What's most interesting to me is if Nick stands and bangs with KJ or takes it down... downtown...to Chinatwon? I know Nick ain't scurrd, homie, but he ain't stupid, either. Actually, scratch that last part.

What I mean is, KJ thoroughly outboxed Nick last time out. Dropped him, cut him, beat him, you name it. But knowing Nick the way I do(not at all), I figure he's got something to prove and will stand with Noons. Which is why it should be a hell of a fight. Just a thought.
Miles- August 31, 2010 at 3:18 pm
Mayhem got that fight after this one was looking all but booked.

I agree with ya Guapo, this is the more interesting fight. If Nick can outbox KJ, I think it elevates his status a little bit but obviously KJ has much more to gain.
ThrashingMad- August 31, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Oh yeah, and Mayhem is already fighting on Dream 16. Against, get this, Sakuraba. At this point I can't tell if Japan loves or hates that guy.
ThrashingMad- August 31, 2010 at 3:10 pm
El Guapo is dead-on. The only people really clamoring over a Mayhem vs Diaz match is this place, some of the more retarded corners of Sherdog, and Mayhem himself.
Mr_Misanthropy- August 31, 2010 at 2:44 pm
Somebody needs to show Diaz the episode of Inside MMA where Noons brought a picture of Diaz's face from their first brawl and tried his best to wax eloquent about his "KJ Masterpiece".

808 vs. 209 2 Da Death, homey.
El Guapo- August 31, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Nick's got beef with both and considering he's caused a post fight ruckus/semi-riot with both... That whole bad blood angle is a wash. So the next logical question is who would make for a more exciting fight??

Mayhem barks MUCH better than he bites. Just look at his last few matches for further proof. Noons is one of the best boxers in the game, as is Diaz, so that in itself makes for a way better matchup. Coupled with the fact he handed Nick his last loss and there you have it. I get the shitting on Strikeforce part, I really do, but at some point the matchup itself should be the determinning factor.
Turd Furgeson- August 31, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Kj Noons? What season of TUF is he from?
PingPong- August 31, 2010 at 2:09 pm
I can't wait to see the interviews with Noon's drunk dad...

Almost North- August 31, 2010 at 2:06 pm
They might as well just start hyping the post fight brawl in the cage, because its going to happen.

For the record I am totally in favor of Nate Diaz sucker punching KJ's dad in the balls.

Sometimes these things happen in MMA.
Sakuraba3900- August 31, 2010 at 2:06 pm
Oh shiet! look at CP trying to get all fancy with this new "Upcoming Events" section to the right... Shit its even got a coverage link on each one with news on whats been goin on with every event.

I can just direct my lady to the site whenever she wants to make plans so she can just go around everyone of the events.

Thanks CP you just made my life so much easier.
ihateemo- August 31, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I enjoyed the slightly incredulous comment about Noons fighting for the title in his welterweight debut. It's an improvement over fighting for a title after a loss, no?
Sakuraba3900- August 31, 2010 at 2:01 pm
That promo would have been so much better with that brawl they had in Hawaii... oh those Stockton boys, how they love their 20 man rumbles.
Mr_Misanthropy- August 31, 2010 at 1:50 pm
Actually, it's "don't beskirt homie"- as in the act of donning articles of women's clothing (I think the learned brothers Diaz are experimenting with the Shakespeareanesque malleability of the English language).

Cross-dressing and transvestitism are not as accepted in the 209 as they are back in KJ's home of Hawaii.
