(Let’s remember the good times…)
Drew Fickett used to be the most entertaining drunk in MMA. But over the last year, his increasingly erratic behavior and 2-7 skid against fighters he should have been able to destroy have sent up red flags about his well-being. Saturday night, he hit his bottom. "The Master" was booked to face prolific submission victim Shannon Ritch at a Rage in the Cage event, and was barred from fighting because he showed up intoxicated. As Ritch explained on the UG:
I showed up to fight, made weight- and waited for Drew.
Its just Sad, I am a huge Drew Fickett fan, he is a great fighter, but obvisiously has a problem. He is in a dark time in his life. I hope he gets it together.
They did the right thing, They paid me in full and even tried to get another fighter to replace Drew, no luck. JPET and ROLAND did all they could to get the fight to happen, even going as far as giving DREW time to sober up,
To no avail…he was just really DRUNK…
If only this was the first time that Fickett screwed over a promoter. Between his drunken antics and his recent losses to non-contenders, it’s hard to imagine that any MMA orgs would be willing to take a chance on Drew at this point. And that’s for the best. Fickett’s life has obviously become unmanageable. We hope he can find some professional help, dry out, and prove that his immense talent won’t go to waste forever.

I propose classes or categories for those on 'roids and those on booze. How exciting it would be. On a serious note, is there no testing in MMA to weed out the Lashley's of the world...guys who are obviously juicing. Do we really need no talent 'roid heads running at each other until one sort of establishes top position and rains down hammer fists? That being said, best of luck to Fickett.

WTF? Just over a year ago Fickett was set to take on, and possibly beat, Jake Shields. And now he's reduced to this? My heart goes out to him and his family. He's a great talent and an entertaining fighter. I hope he can turn things around.

Drew fickett has always been an asshole. Sure he has a whooooole lot of talent, but so did maurice clarett, and maurice is still an unemployed ass face. I can't wait to hear what drew has to say about this cause god knows hes not gonna keep his mouth shut. What situation could possibly lead to a pro fighter drinking on his fight day? I assume that this is a big sign that he is a raging alcoholic which begs the question, does drew train drunk? does drew train? fuck you fickett, all you had to do was show up coherent and shannon was gonna sit down and stick his neck out for you, he trains to be submitted. its time a tv network calls him up for a "fickett's fucked life" reality series, get on it.

Good. John Petrelli and Roland Sierra are two of the worst MMA Promoters ever in Tucson. I'm not surprised. They have also published fights on cards that are not happening. They have even been told that one of the fighters will not make it in advance, and they still keep it a secret, then pop some nobody in there to fight someone like there champ. There crooked and run like the mafia. There show deserves to die in Tucson. Not to mention, they judge there own fights! If you train at there RITC training centers, you will definitely get the decision. There smokers. RITC Sucks, its for fighters who don't know better. Same day contracts also suck. That's how they do business.
