What an asshole!)

Oh man, Kid. Really? It was bad enough when he couldn't win a somewhat close decision over a gaijin with Japanese judges, but this is just sad.

Holy fuck, Aoki ran out of the Saitama Super Arena and took dudes arm with him

Minowa-man TKO's Soku!?! Wowza. Soku better find a new career. He is officially the new Mark Kerr.

I don't even know what to say about Aoki's submission. I'm still speechless...

Hey, has anyone heard anything about Fujita? Supposedly it was a scary knockout and he wasn't moving at all afterwards, even while being carried out...

*Tear* I wish I knew what happened so I could share in your excitement over the Aoki fight. We need Video Ben!!! You're there for God's sake. Break out the camera. When I saw the spread on all the fights I remember thinking "if I was going to put any money on an underdogg it would be Minowa, because Sok just plain sucks." But alas, I am too scared of losing money to take that risk.

In fairness to Suko, they did note that it may have been an early stoppage. Also it was a Minowaman fight, so he probably took $50,000 to take the fall in the 3rd anyway.

I hope you all listened to my betting advice about Minowa and Kanehara being good underdog picks, and disregarded everything else I wrote in that column.

The Melvin fight was an early stoppage. He was wide awake when the fight was stopped. What was the deal with Aoki and this fight? I don't really know the back story to this if there was any. Was he angry at the fight in general when he flipped the bird or was he just angry because the guy wouldn't tap when it was obvious he was fucked?

I can't wait to get off work (yes I have to work new years eve AND new years day, but this is the kinda schedule you have to put up with when you're a contract killer) and watch aoki rip hirotas arm off. Is it gross? Did he cry? Was there blood? What color is Japanese blood?
Thu, 12/31/09 - 07:38
Ben I was thinking exactly about doing that. I was pretty sure Yamamoto was going down and Minowa is never a bad pick with Japanese judges / promoters.

Anyone seen the fight yet? I haven't yet, but based on the result/description...well, did it resemble a work at all? Sokoudjou is much bigger/stronger and has the Judo background, so I was kind of surprised by the fact it looks like much of the fight took place on the ground (I'd think he would have wanted to keep it standing). Plus the fact it sounds like it was stopped early, Minowaman (crowd favorite) has been in fights that DEFINITELY appeared to be works before, etc... Again, haven't seen it, but if anyone has... I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Watched the entire thing (I'm just hardcore like that). Aoki had Hirota's arm behind his back just like how cops restrain people. I think he was trying to break something there, but ended up getting him in an awkward looking armbar then POP. You literally could see and HEAR it break. Think Tim Sylvia/Frank Mir only Asian.

Soku loses fair and square to Minowa = Soku is the laughingstock of MMA. Soku throws fight against Minowa for $ = Soku is the laughingstock of MMA.

The funny thing is if Minowaman would've sunk that kneebar earlier and won that way haters still would've called it a work. And now, CP, I must demand that you fulfill my prophecy of the past 7 months and make Minowaman #1 P4P

Please i watched that whole thing and a couple of things jump out at me. 1. BJ Penn would absolutely destroy Ayoki if they ever cross paths. I've saw Ayoki fight atleast 3 or 4 times and he's been KTFO in two of those and yeah he broke dudes arm but the guy he was fighting only weighed 135 giving up 20 lbs to ayoki. If Ayoki knows what's best for him he will keep his bony a$$ over there in Japan and stay the hell away from BJ or any of the top lightweights in the UFC, hell, he probably would get pwned by half of the WEC guys! (Aldo, Faber, Brown, Cerrone, Henderson, Varner etc.... 2. Those Japs sure know how to put on a show. They really build up there fights and have awesome entrances for the fighters. 3.I loved the Dream vs SRC fights they had, imagine if the UFC and say Strikeforce did that over here! 4. Sokodju sucks! 5. I really like the under 18 K1 tourney. Maybe the USA is doing this also. Overall i've always enjoyed watching fights over in japan, it's just different, yeah that's probably the best word for it...different!

Don't call them Japs, you dickhead.
