‘Dynamite!! 2009′ Update: Manhoef vs. Misaki Booked, Mousasi vs. Goodridge Possible + More

(DREAM vs. SRC video trailer. Props to and Led Zeppelin.)

With less than a week to go until the show, more matchups have been announced for Dynamite!! 2009, building on the event’s DREAM vs. Sengoku Raiden Championship theme. In middleweight action, veteran knockout artist Melvin Manhoef (23-6-1 overall, 2-2 in DREAM) will face Japanese mainstay Kazuo Misaki (22-9-2 overall, 3-1 in Sengoku). Though Manhoef had five kickboxing matches this year, his only MMA appearance in 2009 was a first-round submission loss to Paulo Filho at DREAM.10, in which he succumbed to an armbar after whipping Filho for the first two minutes of the fight. Misaki is coming off a submission victory over Kazuhiro Nakamura in August, followed by a brief athletic suspension for talking on his cellphone while driving, which resulted in him smashing into a police car.

Though many fans hoped that this year’s New Year’s Eve event would feature a showdown between DREAM stablemates Shinya Aoki and Tatsuya Kawajiri, they’ll instead be facing their counterparts in Sengoku. Aoki, who won DREAM’s lightweight belt when he submitted Joachim Hansen in October, will face Mizuto Hirota, who snatched Sengoku’s lightweight belt from Satoru Kitaoka in August. Kawajiri will take on Kazunori Yokota, a top lightweight contender in Sengoku who holds victories over Hirota, Ryan Schultz, and Michihiro Omigawa. According to Nightmare of Battle’s recap of the last Dynamite!! press conference, Aoki is upset that he’s not fighting Kawajiri.

And finally, Dynamite!! 2009 may also include a meeting between DREAM/Strikeforce champ Gegard Mousasi and MMA old-schooler Gary Goodridge, who has lost his last five MMA matches and has gone 0-9-1 in his last 10 kickboxing bouts. Jason High was the first to report the squash match, and MMA Fighting has since confirmed that Mousasi vs. Goodridge is close to being signed under K-1 rules. The curent lineup for the NYE card — which will be broadcast live on HDNet (3 a.m. ET / midnight PT) — is below…

I'm picking Mach based on his mean face being scarier than Gono's

Funny...the only thing I asked from Santa this year was a 2-1/2 minute clip of shirtless Asian guys mugging for the camera!

Anyway, bizarre clip. Who the hell wants to watch shirtless Asian dudes mugging for the camera for two-and-a-half minutes?

First. Get out of bed and shake off those post-Christmas hangovers, you people.
