‘Edgar vs. Maynard 3′ Set for UFC 136 in Houston

(Christ, Dana, you’ve never heard of ‘personal space’?)

MMA Fighting is reporting that Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have verbally agreed to meet for the third time in a headlining lightweight title fight at UFC 136 (October 8th, Houston). Following their draw at UFC 125, Edgar and Maynard were originally scheduled for a do-over at UFC 130 in May, which was postponed when both suffered injuries in training. The two 155′ers first met at UFC Fight Night 13 in April 2008, with Maynard winning by unanimous decision.

So, any predictions on how the re-rematch will play out? (I mean, it’ll end in a decision, obviously, but what kind of decision, and for who?) UFC 136′s current list of matchups is after the jump, including newly-added bouts featuring Demian Maia, Mike Russow, and Josh Grispi

Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (for lightweight title)
Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann (MW)
Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago (MW)
Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow (HW)
Josh Grispi vs. Matt Grice (FW)

I predict this fight won't take place. Edgar's going to get genuinely injured during training, and then Maynard is going to fake an injury (probably something to do with his little toe) to keep his number one contender status. Meanwhile, everyone else at lightweight will continue slugging out among each other until all possible combinations of matches have been made and taken place. They will all then get tired and some of them will decide to change weight classes while others will change organizations for a shot at the title. Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard then will then reign supreme over the entire light weight division and will be given titles of king and queen.

First Edgar beats Penn (twice), and then he comes back from one of the most brutal single round beatings in recent UFC history and the Nation still gives Maynard the W.

Sorry fellas...Frankie takes this one with ease.

I say Maynard gets the finish. Now, by finish for either of these guys means unanimous decision.

i say Maynard by his signature "Lay And Praynard" fighting technique.

I'm predicting another draw, and then rock-paper-scissors to determine the final outcome, with Edgar winning after showing paper to lay-n-pray on Maynard's rock.

I say Maynard by TKO in the third round. Then Edgar moves down to featherweight.
