Everything You Need to Know About the WEC’s Jose Aldo In Seven Minutes Or Less

WEC 44 is just a few hours from now, and as we already told you once, the Mike Brown-Jose Aldo title fight promises to be a war that you do not want to miss.  Ever since Brown shocked the world against Urijah Faber, we’ve all had our chance to see what kind of tools that particular contractor is using to build his foundation, but what about Aldo?  You may not be completely familiar with the 23-year-old Brazilian, but the good news is that it won’t take you long to get caught up.  In his last three WEC fights, he’s spent a grand total of 6:02 in the cage, winning all three via TKO.  Add in introductions and a couple of rewinds to fully appreciate his explosive finishes, and you can see it all in around seven minutes.

Take the time to enjoy the man’s body of work, won’t you?  He’d do the same for you, or at least he would if you did anything aside from reading the internet and playing those damn video games.

Aldo vs. Mickle, and a very low-fi version of Aldo vs. Perez are both after the jump.

Brownie didn't look confident and didn't look like he had a game plan. Aldo didn't get overly aggressive and appears to have good grappling. Unlike most people I'm not above admitting I was wrong.

Congrats to Aldo, he'll probably be there a while.

This is a match up for the ages for sure, but ya gotta go with Brownie here. Aldo hasn't faced anyone of his calibre and if he get's overly aggressive it will not benefit him here. Dunno much about Aldo's grappling and ground game but I'm betting Brownie is better and more powerful and will dominate him there and this will be the difference in the fight.

Sorry Aldo, get ready for a rude awakening.

I think superflat means he doesn't get overly aggressive and leave himself open much. Sure, a flying knee is pretty risky, but he throws them wisely.

He's explosive and has knockout power but doesn't get overly aggressive trying to overwhelm his opponents like say, Zaromskis

that being said, throwing things like flying knees against Brown will be a lot more risky than his previous opponents, as we have seen from the Faber-elbow

Fellow DirecTV a brother Where to go for live stream??

Soda Popinski- November 18, 2009 at 2:08 pm say that throwing a double flying knee has some risk to it. what do you mean by not taking risks? (im asking that seriously, not in a jackass sorta way).

the thing ive noticed about aldo is that he throws a hell of alot of leg kicks. curious to know how brown deals with that if thats what aldo decides to do.

I just want to apologize to those of you with direct tv, its how i feel about Comcast not carrying HDNET
skeletor- November 18, 2009 at 1:41 pm
I don't care who wins this should be a hell of a fight. The main reason I'm thinking, is because theres no Canadians involved!

The explosive fighter vs. the rock. Only, watching Aldo, he doesn't really seem to take risks, he's just really good at capitalizing. But Brown doesn't make mistakes. All I can say is that Aldo looks like the kind of fighter who would destroy Faber.

Uggghh....that knee to Swanson's eye is just vicious! Nasty cut too...

@ Soda:

Agreed...Aldo is indeed a mystery. We all know that Brown has a ton of heart and great technique to compliment his fighting spirit, hence that heavy gold thing that holds his trunks up... But Aldo??? This dude doesn't give us a chance to see his full arsenal cause he seems be in a hurry to get somewhere else... A lot of questions are gonna be laid to rest tonight... I got Direct TV, soooo livebloggs it is
Soda Popinski- November 18, 2009 at 1:20 pm
id probably agree with you portland. but you always have to wonder with a guy like aldo if brown has ever fought a guy like aldo.

i think aldo is still a bit of a mystery to alot of people. this fight will for sure either solidify aldo as a certified bad ass or put mike brown in the category of, "dang dude, it sucks alot of people dont know who you are".

under 5 hours till the fights begin!

I violently hate that Ditect TV and Versus arnt friends! My night is ruined... Regardless, I hope its a great event, and may the best fighters win

This is a tough fight to call because Aldo hasn't fought a guy of Brown's caliber yet, but at the same time Aldo's athleticism and explosiveness is insane. I'm going to go with Brown on this one though.
Soda Popinski- November 18, 2009 at 1:03 pm
it still blows my mind that both of those knees connected.

i think he beats brown tonight. not sure how, but i think it happens.

if so, this guys gonna be on top for a while.

thats what she said.
