CagePotato.com has confirmed with Shark Fights officials that Proving Ground winner Nick Newell (5-0) will make his promotional debut at Shark Fights 19 against fellow lightweight Jesse Zeugin, a 29-year-old fighter from Missouri who holds a 5-2 record with all wins by submission within the first two rounds. Zeugin last competed at Titan Fighting Championship 18 in May, where he lost to Joe “The Nose” Wilk via anaconda choke. He trains out of the Springfield Fight Club alongside TUF 12 finalist Michael Johnson and Strikeforce/Bellator vet Zak Cummings.
Shark Fights 19 takes place September 10th at the Independence Events Center in Independence, Missouri. We’ll release the full fight lineup in the next few days. If you want to come hang out with us at the show, get your tickets here, and follow Shark Fights on Facebook and Twitter.

commentsIt was pretty fucking funny. Given the kind of humor that is routinely deemed acceptable on this site (e.g. the torrent of 'Cyborg is a dude' jokes in every story about her), I don't see why people all of a sudden find themselves compelled to take the high road.
It's not that "they dont let people with physical or mental handicaps in the Olympics," it's that people with handicaps usually cannot compete at elite levels. Apparently you have never heard of Oscar Pistorius, the South African double-amputee sprinter who competed at the World Championships this year and has already clocked an Olympic A standard for the 400m dash. If he makes the team, he'll be allowed to compete. Given that, outside of speculation, no one has demonstrated specifically how Newell's amputation is an advantage, I don't see why he shouldn't be able to compete as long as he can defend himself, which is pretty much the minimum standard for allowing something to compete in combat sports.
.
hahaha....your funny.
.
but where could you even secure it from? Not laced to the back of his elbow?
.
He has done well to date but - once he finds himself in front of a true puncher, my guess is he is gonna get floored.
.
Not saying Newell can't take a punch, but even the best of defenders once staggered, almost always requires both arms to have a chance at buying time and regaining ones composure.
.
As for the malformed left forearm, for the first time I clearly see numb implements designed specifically for the eye gouge.
.
Something is wrong with them being unprotected/ungloved.
.
One if he has no bone below the nubs, he risks having them easily torn off. Not the end of the world, many other men have lost a ear, finger, or toe. In his case he may need them for dialing a phone a phone in an emergency. Sure he holds the phone in his right hand, and dials with his left nubs, no?
.
If he has some bone or cartilage beneath the skin on those fucking little nubs, then without a doubt that is unfair - as he can still articulate both is shoulder and elbow to full effect.
.
Cal it a minor gripe, but something does not sit right after watching him fight a few times. The question is, I doubt there is anyway to attached a glove or boot to his lower arm?
