MMA Fighter Challenges People to Punch Him in the Face, Everyone Fails

Featherweight and Lightweight Power Rankings Updated

(Bibiano Fernandes reacts after submitting Joe Warren at DREAM.11. Photo courtesy of Sherdog.)

Following recent events in the UFC, WEC, DREAM, and Sengoku, we’ve updated the featherweight and lightweight pages in our Power Rankings section. To summarize…

FW: Bibiano Fernandes enters for the first time. Hatsu Hioki and Raphael Assuncao rise slightly, while Wagnney Fabiano plummets. WEC 44‘s scrap between Mike Brown and Jose Aldo could alter the top 5. Josh Grispi and L.C. Davis lie just outside the top 10.

LW: Gray Maynard enters for the first time. Shinya Aoki solidifies his place at #2, while Joachim Hansen and Gesias Cavalcante fall. Josh Thomson officially drops off the list due to inactivity, but if he can make it through a training camp without injuring himself, the winner of the rematch between him and Gilbert Melendez could potentially re-enter. Mizuto Hirota and Tyson Griffin are also close. UFC 107‘s match between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez could alter the top 5.

Give ‘em a look and let us know how you feel…

shit sakuraba, you said it hahaha. i can't believe he put herring in that list of "irrelevant" opponents. herring was a fuckin monster at that point, on the way up. hahah ahhhhh, jackoff. you so craaaaazay.
Sakuraba3900- October 12, 2009 at 11:45 pm
Oh and before you say anything about Coleman, the Hammer was still kicking ass around the time of that fight. He had wond 7 of his 8 previous fight only losing to Big Nog.

Honestly Jackoff you cant win this argument at all. Do us all a favor and go play in the street blindfolded. Better yet the Freeway.

Have a good one :]
Sakuraba3900- October 12, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Ok first off all those people that Fedor beat were at the time that he beat them in their PRIME

-At the time that he fought Heath Herring, the Texas Crazy Horse was thought to be a u[p and comming star that pride was tryingt o build up.

-He smashed through Mark Coleman who had won the Pride Grand prix a couple years back and was also thought to be a good match up for him (Coleman just beat some 205er thats like half his age now)

-He beat Big Nog when they were both ranked up at the top 5 of the HWT rankings (Big Nog is still ranked in the top5 btw)

-He pummeled the most feared striker in the biz CroCop when he was in his prime.

-It took 5 rounds for Couture to beat Sylvia where as it took only 30 seconds for Fedor to beat the former champ

-Arlovski was out in one punch another former champ

-And as for the whole TK thing, he was only awarded the tko because of a cut asshole. He didnt "BEAT" him he won because of a cut. They rematched years later and Fedor CRUSHED him.

What other HWT do you know of off the top of your head that has gone without losing for this long. Honestly thats unheard of in this sport all together much less in a division where any clean punch from any HWT can take you out.

Do yourself a favor Jackoff, SIT THE FUCK DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP, go watch TUF or something.

have a good one :]

By the way im still waiting on you guys to post up 5 of fedors opponents who didnt suck at the time. And if you say Arlovski, Sylvia, Choi, Coleman, Linland, Goodridge, Hunt, Herring, or Randleman you lose.

And Sobral doesnt count because hes hardly a heavyweight, shit the guys not even a big 205.

I'll give you one to make it easy so you dont spend all night on google, Cro Cop who looked like shit in their fight.
Jarekov The Great- October 12, 2009 at 9:47 pm
@clutchy

out of 30 fights you fucking moron name 5 that were legit fighters at their prime. I'm using logic and have been since this fedor cock riding thing began.

He fights out of shit shows and doesnt fight anyone, why the fuck do you think hes something hes not.

And "no MMA fan would say that about fedor" is eat shit retarded. It should say "no Fedor fan would say that about Fedor".

Ive been in this game longer then almost all of you and I love MMA more then anyone, and i can tell you a couple things. All Fedor has done for MMA is show that a good fighter can beat a bunch of rejects and no names. All Fedor has done is get the kimbo treatment from his shows. the fact that you show such die hard fan boy-ism is sad. Its not like im calling you a fucking wanna be.
echoxer0- October 12, 2009 at 9:47 pm
CP, why is josh barnett even still in the power rankings?
he should be dropped!
clutchy hopkins- October 12, 2009 at 8:18 pm
you have got to be a fucking idiot jackoff the great, cause no educated fan would say that shit about fedor. just strange, strange people that play favorites and don't use knowledge with their statements
Jarekov The Great- October 12, 2009 at 5:39 pm
at Sakuraba

since im making an ass of myself name 5 fights out of his thirty that were against legit fighters in their prime... go ahead find one fucking person. He lost to TK who fucking sucks by TKO i dont see him as unbeatable or even legit until he fights a true world beater and comes out on top.
Jarekov The Great- October 12, 2009 at 5:34 pm
i fucking hate lesnar actually, the only heavyweights i can support are shane carwin and gabriel gonzaga. I just dont see a 230 pound guy as the best heavyweight when you have guys like the 3 i mentioned coming in around 265 going against better talent. seriously though why does everyone ride this guys dick so hard. I'll admit he looks impressive when he wins but look at the fighters hes beating, its a bunch of losers or wash ups.

Carwin and Gonzaga have heavier hands, you cant dispute that there bigger guys with more mass. And Lesnar despite being a tremendous asshole is a very good wrestler on top of being very well conditioned and strong. Fedor would be unstoppable at 205 but at heavyweight hes a dinosaur no matter what you think. the days of non 265ers is over. Skill is less of a factor then size and strength, look at gsp vs anyone. Look at how long matt hughes dominated.
for the love of mma- October 12, 2009 at 4:03 pm
belfort hasnt even fought at 185lbs in the ufc and he gets a title shot is bullshit! i know back in the day it happen alot with sakurai and hughes and carlos newton but that was because of lack of competition!!!!!!
for the love of mma- October 12, 2009 at 4:01 pm
aoki would not beat diego sanchez or florian or even gay manerd!!! and im glad to see vitor belfort at #10 and dan henderson at #2 in middleweight! i still think hendo can beat anderson if he trains correctly!!
A. Silvas Heat-Seeking Missiles- October 12, 2009 at 3:59 pm
As much as I love Fedor he'd probably lose to Brock. I'd give him a 1 in 4 chance to win, just because Lesnar is such a fucking monster Lesnar should be the number one heavyweight with Fedor coming in behind him at the two spot. Lesnar represents everything I hate in a fighter: the abominable, oversized bully who grabs people and beats the shit out of them while they helplessly lay in the walrus-laying toddler punch barrage of death. But nonetheless I have to give him his repect as a fighter. I'd still love to see Fedor smash on that fool.

Mousasi should be higher up even with his lack of "top-notch" fights. I mean look a that guy fight, he's one of the sickest fools out there. Babalu was relatively highly regarded and was squashed by him with ease. I'd love to see him fight Machida after he gets some more experience.
RJeezy- October 12, 2009 at 1:52 pm
At least Hirota got mentioned this time... Still done more than Diego has to be in the top 10.

And I think you guys mixed up that Fedor guy with Minowaman in the p4p
youngblood- October 12, 2009 at 1:46 pm
ah yes... The Tokyo top ten!!
Kevin Marshall- October 12, 2009 at 1:41 pm
@youngblood - We could also just call it "Japan Rankings." Which is a big part of the reason why I'm always uncertain of how to rank fighters who only compete there.

That being said, the only thing I really take issue with is Yamamoto being ranked #6 in the featherweight Top 10. Two years is a looooong stretch of time in MMA. Such an extensive lay-off compacted with the loss to Fernandes (and all the lumps he took with injuries/concussions/etcetera during that time off) doesn't, in my mind, warrant even being ranked Top 10.

That may sound very "what have you done for me lately," but...well, so what? This IS MMA we're talking about.
Catalyst8487- October 12, 2009 at 1:36 pm
A month out from the fight and Fedor takes a wife. Meanwhile Brett Rogers is frantically calling Sams Club HR to get a job as a door greeter after Fedor breaks his soul.

I don't like Fedor but the man is a beast and will continue his winning streak against Rogers.
DefinitelyMaybe- October 12, 2009 at 1:35 pm
@ Jerkoff

..."brock lesnar couldnt beat this asshole your a moron"

Is there some unwritten rule about Lesnar supporters being required to have their posts fraught with spelling and grammatical errors?
youngblood- October 12, 2009 at 1:34 pm
We need a new catagory. Something like top ten "on the juice" catagory.
1.Allister 'my hand hurts so I can't pee in a cup' Oveream
2.Josh 'but it was over the counter' Barnett
3.Sean 'someone spiked my protein' Sherk
4.Ken 'the worlds most roided out man' Shamrock
5.Antonio 'Big needle of Horsepiss' Silva
6.Tim 'like i'm not buff enough' Sylivia
7.Stephan 'but I lost to Griffan twice' Bonner
8.Phil 'the New York needle in my ass' Baroni
9.Hermes 'but Sherk was doing it first' Franca
10.Kit 'I thought it was ok because I slept with Gina' Cope

Honorable mention to Nick 'but I have Glaucoma' Diaz
just some dong- October 12, 2009 at 1:14 pm
While I suspect Brock could take Fedor out, there's no denying that Fedor was once a very bad man. Is he still? I believe so. Sure, Silvia and Arlovski's careers were plummeting at the rate of gravity when they fought him, but Fedor smashed through both very quickly. I though Andre was doing well until he got caught, but that's exactly what Fedor does. He picks his shots and makes 'em count, to devastating effect. He's incredibly durable and can end a fight in a blink in any number of ways. Creativity + talent + physical gifts = a very dangerous fighter.

I'll be shocked if Brett beats Fedor. Everything about the guy just seems tailor-made for the Last Emperor. He's not even watching tape on him because he's afraid he'll "get in his head." Comical. If you're afraid to watch tape on somebody, he's already in your head, dude.

Sakuraba3900- October 12, 2009 at 12:47 pm
@Jackoff The Great

Shut up. You're embarrassing yourself.
Sakuraba3900- October 12, 2009 at 12:44 pm
I love those crazy Japanese people with their way of puttin on freak show fights and the occasional good matchup but to tell you the truth i dont think that Aoki would match up very well with many of the good American fighters although he will always end up on top when it comes in the style department.
Jarekov The Great- October 12, 2009 at 12:42 pm
wtf is with fedor being on top all the time, hes only had 3 fights against legit fighters, everyone else has been washed up or at the tail end of their career. putting him in the heavyweight top is a joke but then as a top 3 p4p fighter is a fucking travesty. I like sherdogs system which ranks fighter based on who they have fought and what that fighter was doing. This is just Fedor nut hugging, the guy hasnt fought anyone except ufc rejects and no names why the fuck is he rated so well. I cant wait till grim knocks his fat russian head into the front row. And if any of you think gabriel gonzaga, shane carwin, or brock lesnar couldnt beat this asshole your a moron.
uzithrasha- October 12, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Yves "let it be" Lavigne is the worst ref ever. I gave hime the nick name "let it be" because of the matt brown fight and also when he let Leban go into a coma
