Betting Odds Released for Emelianenko/Arlovski, GSP/Penn

The online betting site 5Dimes was the first to put up odds for Affliction: Day of Reckoning’s main event, now offering a +325 underdog line for the Pitbull, and -475 for the Last Emperor; in other words, bet $100 on Andrei to win $375, bet $475 on Fedor to win $100. Apparently the line was first established at +400/-600, but it started to even out as money began flooding in for Arlovski. (According to BestFightOdds, BetCris‘s numbers are slightly more generous, and they’re already offering odds for the Josh Barnett/Gilbert Yvel match.) If you feel like taking a risk on the Pitbull, you may want to act soon, since your potential profit could decrease as Arlovski fans continue to drop cash on him.

Personally, I feel that betting against Fedor is always a bad move — even if Arlovski’s been hard at work, taking detailed notes. But 5Dimes and BetCris are also offering a far more interesting wager: Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn at UFC 94. Though 5Dimes set the line at -245/+175 on Monday with Penn as the underdog, the numbers have already shrunk down to -210/+160, meaning that bets are coming down solidly on the Prodigy. If you think GSP has the edge here, definitely keep an eye on the odds to see if they go any lower for him.

Semi-related: Andrei Arlovski now refers to Tim Sylvia as "Pee Pee Taste." Brilliant.

What would have happened to Arlovski and Ariel had they both worked for the NHL?
Would they have shot them?

Another reason hockey is teh gayest (besides wearing garter belts, having the canuck national team play 'strip penalties' with the boys and every scandal being of the homo/coach touching peepees kind).

Good on Andrei for keeping the meme alive.
and "How taste my sloppy seconds?" would have been so lame...
just like the NHL.

How much d*ck did Arlovski's ex have to suck before she officially became known as c*ckbreath? And who's Pee Pee does Arlovski taste? He clearly tasted someones because something about that girl's looks tells me she's not a version.

One thing's for sure come January 24th, and that is Arlovski will not be tasting no pee pee -- he'll be tasting an ass-whooping. Who knows, maybe we can start calling him... poo poo face? You can't argue that's any more retarded a name as pee pee taste.

@ BuckWild:

I really don't see Arlovski pullin' a "pee-pee taster" on us. it could happen, but I think Andrei is better than that.

@ Geriatric Peon:

Love your screen name...

I was also a little critical of Arlovski against Nelson. He looked a little unprepared in the clinch and on the ground. I'm sure Arlovski will be doing EVERYTHING in his power to keep the fight standing; rightly so. But don't forget his performance against Rothwell at Afflicition: Banned. I expected Rothwell to steamroll Arlovski. Instead it was the exact opposite and ended up being (arguably) the best fight at that event. He looked great and that's the version of Arlovski that I'm expecting to show up in January.

@ Olie

Damn...I wish this site had a spell checker...

Anyway, you're right about the fight against Hong Man Choi. I love watchin' that fight. I know a lot of folks scoff at that match as a 'freak show", but Choi was certainly puttin' a hurtin' on Fedor. Of course, Fedor's skills saved his ass.

Fedor has a strong record of winning matches when he's injured. Seems he can find ways to work around the "off days", but sooner or later, everyone gets caught.

I think he called him pee-pee taster, but never the less funny as hell :)
Olie- December 17, 2008 at 9:12 am
Well said OBI & Jugger.

It's 'loss' and not 'lose' by the way. :)

I think Fedor would need to have an 'off' day for him to lose to Arlovski. However, I know Fedor beat Hong Man Choi by armbar this time a year ago, but if I remember correctly Fedor also took quite a bit of a pasting!

remember that big Jamaican dude in the movie Major League?). - Pedro Cerano!

I completly agree with that second paragraph. Good stuff.
Jugger- December 17, 2008 at 8:09 am
Arlovski is good, but I've never seen him in a fight where the words "Damn, this guys is good," have come to mind. Know what I mean? He's athletic, pretty quick, and has decent power but he doesn't seem to have the natural instinct that other upper echelon pound-for-pounds have (i.e. Fedor, Anderson, BJ). You never get the sense that he's using his mind in a fight. He's the kind of guy who can hit a high fast-ball out of the park all day but whiffs on every curve-ball (remember that big Jamaican dude in the movie Major League?).

I think Fedor will just plain outwit Andre; frustrate and exploit him. Fedor will come an do something ingenious and Andre won't know how to react. He'll just paw around with his jab until Fedor overwhelms him with unorthodox strikes or takes him down and subs him.
Geriatric Peon- December 17, 2008 at 7:52 am
Fedor wins via arm bar (I mean did AA look like he has improved at all on the ground against Nelson?). Following the loss Arlovski looks at the promotional poster and realizes he is destined to be in Blade IV "Blade pays his taxes"
BuckWild- December 17, 2008 at 7:43 am
Yes Old Bald. I think the UFC will want to scoop the Pitbull back up so they will have more of a bargaining edge on the rematch.

Lets just hope he doesn't pull a Timmy and go down in a minute !
Old, Bald and Irish- December 17, 2008 at 7:33 am
Hmmm...

Arlovski's comments on viewing Fedor's lose in the Sambo tournament as a sign that Fedor's skills are slipping is interesting.

Fedor has claimed that the Sambo tournaments are a "hobby"; MMA pays the bills. I never looked at Fedor's Sambo lose as any sign that he is slipping. Sambo competitions and MMA bouts are not apples-to-apples.

Otherwise, Arlovski sounds like he has his head screwed on straight.

Personally, I think that Arlovski will represent Fedor's biggest challenge since he fought Cro Cop in 2005. While I think that Fedor will win, Arlovski most certainly has a chance of beating him.

If life has taught me anything, it's that no one loses, or wins, all of the time. Sooner more than later, Fedor's number is gonna come up. Could Arlovski be the one to deliver a lose to Fedor? Could be.

Also, Arlovski wisely dodged the questions on beating Fedor and would that mean that Arlovski is the best in the world. If Arlovski beats Fedor, expect Dana White to be on the phone to The Pitbull's management faster than you can say "pee-pee".

I'm looking forward to watching Arlovski's video diaries...

Arlovski's sponsors have hired a camera crew to follow him around before and after his WAMMA title fight against Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction: Day of Reckoning on January 24, 2009 in Anaheim, California. The resulting web series, titled "Arlovski 360: On the Road to Reckoning" will go behind the scenes to profile Arlovski's life in and out of the ring. The show debuts December 19, 2008 on Arlovski's official website and will run for seven weeks. New episodes will air every friday, and will be distributed to video websites like YouTube the following day.

We seriously need to refer to Sylvia as pee pee taste from now on.
Scar Tissue- December 17, 2008 at 6:58 am
ROFL...ahh he's so casual about calling him Pee Pee Taste. Like it's his actual name in his mind.
TwinCityTapout- December 17, 2008 at 6:23 am
