Fedor will destroy Randy Couture. If Couture can lose to Chuck Liddell then he has no business being in the ring with Fedor. Rampage didn’t even qualify to fight to Fedor in Pride cause he wasn’t ranked high enough and he beat a Liddell, a guy who beat Couture twice. And Liddell stunk up the ring every time he came over to Pride. Dana doesn’t want UFC to look bad by having all the Pride fighters take over so he is waiting it out. Fedor is already in the downside of his prime and if Dana can wait a little longer he be all nice and soft for his UFC debut. The sad thing is if you look at the Champions of UFC, Pride Fighters already own the top two positions.

Dana White is what is wrong with the UFC. With pride, it was about putting together great fights for the fans. Yes, us! Dana White is interested in putting together the most restrictive clauses on his fighters and to promote fighters not to create good fights for us, but for his pockets. There is something really wrong with the UFC. All diehard MMA fans, or ones of the Pride ERA, all realize there is something wrong with the UFC. At first I was all for the UFC, but they got greedy and now want to run a monopoly. What drew me and I would have to say most others to fighting were the fights itself, not the business! Hamil vs Bisping. Anybody with 2 working eyes saw that Hamil dominated the fight. That fight right there showed me that there is something wrong. Nearly all former Pride fighters that have fought have lost their first fight. Anderson Silva was before the merger, he doesn’t count. Someone correct me if i’m wrong, but rampage is the only one to win his first fight in the initial merger. why? Cuz rampage can be promoted! All I’m trying to say is that the UFC is crooked, sure shogun can lose, but forrest griffin is nowhere the caliber of fighter that he is and shogun would never get choked out by a brawler. Hmm…Forrest Griffin I believe was in the first TUF Final which pretty much sprang the UFC to what it was(with popularity among people who didn’t know mma). Dana will do anything and everything for him. I honestly would like to see all of these fights in a different organiztion because I know the outcomes will be different. ITs funny how a man like cro cop walks away from a crooked organization and people say he needs to come back in order to be considered good again? c’mon, he was mma before dana white grew a sack. DANA sucks and he is ruining MMA, I can not wait for Cuban and others to rival this shitty organization and we will see more fighters leaving UFC! Peace

I see there are a lot of people who don’t get M1. They are not trying to piggyback on UFC, they are trying to piggyback on PRIDE. they are trying to simply take it’s place.

dana definitely seems to be abusing the power he wields in the mma world, most recently by treating arlovski poorly — but you cannot deny that so far, he has still done more good than harm.

i want the ufc to be more successful than all the other organizations, mostly because i’m really happy with the spiketv deal and all the good-quality fights i get for “free”… i’ll pay for a tourney here and there, but if all the good fights are on pride and ufc ppv, it would totally suck

Anyone who has seen Fedor fight realizes that at this point that he is the best fighter in the world. The fact of the matter is that the competition in Pride was much higher then it is in the UFC. The rounds are longer for starters. I can not imagine some of the guyz in the UFC competing in the pride format. The UFC has to consider going back to the original format they used. Why are their rounds to a fight? Two guys fight in the street, do they have rounds? NO! They fight until the fight is over. Five minute rounds to me seems a bit short. I am also in no shape to understand how hard these guys train for these fights, but still I don’t believe that any fight should end in a draw.(Tito and Evans). The people paid money and really didn’t find anything out. The UFC also does not give title fights to enough people. How many times will I see Hughes or Sylvia? I swear if Rich Franklin ever fights for the middleweight belt again it better not be against “the spider”. He simply does not match up with him and yet he is in line to get another shot pretty soon by the way the UFC decides title fights. I don’t understand also why Sherk is eventually going to step back in the ring and get a title shot. He is a cheating prick who broke rules and yet he is going to get a shot to win his belt back? Let BJ keep the belt and tell Sherk that he lost all the respect people had for him and he might as well retire. The guy was one of my favorite fighters. He fought GSP and Hughes with no fear and I respected him. He let down a lot of people and he should just fade away. And last but not least, get some new fighters in the ring. Where is Tito? Where is Rashad? Where is Randleman or Barnett? Where is Karo? Mix it up a little bit. Have a tournament like Pride used to do. An open weight event. Think of how great a Silva-Rampage fight might be. The UFC needs to mix it up a little bit. At least consider re-opening pride fighting. DId you see how many people used to go to those fights. Have a weekly pride show on TV or something where up and coming guys compete for a shot to fight at a big Pay-Per-View. That would be exciting Television. Do something though because MMA will eventually turn into boxing if something doesn’t change. Boxing used to be great, now its a sport that gets overshadowed because over time the promoters destroyed it with their greediness. Seriously, lets see some changes!

Absolutely agree with ‘patrickgamil’ on not giving shit about UFC losing fanbase. So what? Why the heck does anyone other than Dana White worry about UFC losing its ground? Dana White is the only thing standing between MMA enthusiasts and the greatest heavy weight matchup we have at the moment. If you’re a mma fan instead of some kind of UFC worshipper, you got every reason to blame Dana White for keeping this fight from happening.

Yes M1 is trying to use Fedor vs. Couture fight as the cornerstone of their global project and will “piggybacking” on UFC’s popularity once things go their way. Tough luck, M1 is equally licenced organization and has every right to do so. Dana White of course has every right to stop that, but in doing so, he’s making two great champions look bad. They deserve better. Come on now. Why Dana White’s pursuit for ever-monopolizing of our beloved sports be accepted by fans like you and me?

Fedor is as tough as nails, has the natural talent, is extremely fast for his size, is extremely crafty on the ground and has crazy sombo throws!!!!! I love this guy!!!!! I admire his gull to sign with the no name M-1 and standup to Dana White – even with being offered more than any current UFC fighter is getting! Fedor is the full package and is a gentleman too! I love his calmness before and during his fights – like he’s at the spa or meditating! I think he will have a tough time with most of the top heavyweights but nonetheless is UNQUESTIONABLY at the top of the food chain and will be the favorite in anyone they put him up against! To have that many fights against that kind of talent and not lose one is unheard of (Crocop, Nogeira, Randleman, Heath Herring, Mark Hunt, Mark Coleman, Sammy Schmit, Renato Babalu Sobral, etc. etc.)! This guys has earned respect and you can bet that i’ll be going for him in his next fight! PS – Dana sucks; Brock got paid $200k for losing (1st fight in octogon) and Mir only got a lawsy $80k and thats including the win bonus. How is that fair. That and raising the price when these guys are making more money that Coca-Cola just makes me wanna give dana a nipple twister!

If M1′s franchise star demolishes UFC’s superhero, Dana will be forced to share the market with a newcomer. He’s just trying to stop that at the expense of making a fool outta himself. Yes it’s that simple.

Everyone thinks the ‘PRIDE FC’ fighters are over-estimated after witnessing Crocop, Wanderlei silva and Shogun went down. Well, just look who are the champs at top two weight classes. Pride FC’s fighters were no joke. The unsuccessful ones just didn’t make the right transition in terms of rules and rings.
Fedor was undefeated through his career at Pride FC and there’s a reason for it :
He is damn good.

In an orthodox square-style ring, it’s hard to imagine that anyone will beat Fedor. If the game is held in UFC style(ring, rule, everything), then you need a guy who’s substancially bigger and stronger than Fedor, with good ground skills and lung that lasts entire length of the game.

Fedor is not the strongest guy in heavy weight division and we all saw what happened in the first few minutes of Fedor vs. Randleman fight. The Octogon will be harsh environment for Fedor when his opponent is strong enough to charge forward in clinch fight. The cage (instead of ropes) will capitalize Fedor’s weakness due to realatively small built, and thus one should take Fedor down near the cage and keep pressure against it.

Randy is a very well-balanced fighter and certainly good enough to beat anybody. Well, except Fedor. Randy’s about an inch taller but not bigger than Fedor. He cannot capitalize Fedor’s weakness against the Octogon. If Josh Barnett is in shape, he should have a shot at Fedor in Octogon. Barnett is relentless, strong and much bigger than Fedor. On the top of everything Josh has ground skills that make Nogueira scream at his own game.
Of course if someone wants to beat Fedor in UFC rule, one shouldn’t forget to use lots of elbow swings, because the most vulnerable part of Fedor’s game is his facial skin. (lol but no kidding)

Randy’s man enough to fight the Russian superhuman at the sundown of his career. If Fedor is that much of a joke to Dana, he should let Randy or other UFC heavy weight title contenders to fight Fedor to prove himself right.

Fedor, in his brilliance, expects to fight in the UFC or against UFC fighters after rejecting to sign a contract and instead signing to a non-existent organization know as M-1. And he is complaining about not fighting better competition? Is this bizzaro world? The logic of his complaint is suspect.

I am stoked that someone else besides just fans are vocalizing disdain for Dana. People want to credit him for making MMA popular again, so be it, but the guy is a total tool and has done a lot to hurt the image of both fighters and the sport.

I have seen Fedor fight. I’m not taking anything away from him. I just dont think he is nearly as scary as he was back in the day. In the Lindland fight he grabbed the ropes to prevent a take down. Which was bull. In the Hong fight he was rocked by some of his punches. Look at his face afterwards. Now imagine a fighter that will secure a takedown and land way better punches.

As for Serra/GSP, I dont see how that is a big match other than its in Canada. Serra is gonna get dominated by GSP. It will be nothing like the last time they fought.

Ryan makes an EXCELLENT point and I think he’s right on the money with his suspicion of M1′s motivation to piggyback on UFC’s success.

Serra vs St. Pierre is going to be a smash success. How can you follow that up? Couture vs Fedor, that’s how! Serra vs St. Pierre is going to bring a lot of people into the world of MMA. There is no doubt that this matchup is the Super Bowl of the MMA world. If the UFC teams up with M1 within 3-4 months of the Serra vs GSP matchup, that will be an even bigger draw! People who get into the Serra/GSP are gonna want to see something even bigger. This could be a huge opportunity for the UFC to hold its nose, make the deal with M1 and make a boatload of money on this fight.

1.) Couture and Fedor both want this fight.
2.) Sooner or later, M1 will make it happen.
3.) It will be a SMASH event.
4.) The UFC has a choice: make NO MONEY on this eventual match up, or cut a deal and make some cash off of it while you can.

I’ve always maintained that the likes of Randy Couture and Fedor (2 stand-up guys who don’t run their mouths) would NEVER shy down to a fight. The only reason people say Fedor fights such “mediocre” fighters recently is because it’s out of his hands! He doesn’t decide the match-ups. The promotors and event organisation does.

Wow Damian and everyone else out there. I suggest looking at a few of Fedor’s fights. There is nobody who is capable of beating this guy. Randy will go down like all the others have to him. He has beat the UFC heavyweight champ on a few occasion. Fedor is unstopable. Just watch his fights. The UFC has to change its rules to make the fights more exciting. the thing is that m1 is trying to get ufc’s fans… try to take all the time and money that ufc built into their brand, and piggyback onto it… because otherwise they aren’t gonna do shit for ppv buys, or anything. Noone knows fedor, the majority of ‘mainstream’ fans that is. So while it sucks for us real fans, its both dana and fedors fault, not just one.
