“Fields Dynamite!! 2008″ Quick Results; Sapp, Cro Cop, Mousasi, Overeem, Manhoef, Aoki Score Wins

Total Bummer Update: The fight between DREAM lightweight champion Joachim Hansen and Gesias Cavalcante was canceled. Hansen did not pass a pre-fight medical examination, reportedly due to a recent hospitalization for a head injury. So that sucks.

K-1 Youth Tournament
Reserve fight: Taishi Hiratsuka def. Daizo Sasaki via KO, 1:00 of round 2
Semi-final 1: Koya Urabe def. Tatsuya Kusakabe via TKO, 2:21 of round 3
Semi-final 2: Hiroya def. Shota Shimada via unanimous decision
Final: Hiroya def. Koya Urabe via unanimous decision

DREAM rules: Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa def. Errol Zimmerman via submission (toe-hold), 1:01 of round 1

K-1 rules: Artur Kyshenko def. Yoshihiro Sato via unanimous decision

DREAM rules: Daisuke Nakamura def. Hideo Tokoro via submission (armbar), 2:23 of round 1

DREAM rules: Andy Ologun def. Yukio Sakaguchi via KO, 3:52 of round 1

DREAM rules: Bob Sapp def. Akihito Tanaka (aka "Kinniku Mantaro") via TKO, 5:22 of round 1. Tanaka put Sapp in trouble early with takedowns and ground-and-pound, but Sapp was able to get to his feet and tag Kinnikuman with some of his big, wild punches against the ropes until the fight was stopped.

DREAM rules: Semmy Schilt def. Siala "Mighty Mo" Siliga via submission (triangle choke), 5:31 of round 1

DREAM rules: Hayato Sakurai def. Katsuyori Shibata via TKO, 7:01 of round 1

K-1 rules: Tatsuya Kawajiri def. Kozo Takeda via TKO, 2:37 of round 1. Kawajiri dropped Takeda twice with punches in the first round, then once more with a flying knee. It was the first in a series of dominant victories by MMA fighters in kickboxing matches at Dynamite!! 2008.

K-1 rules: Alistair Overeem def. Badr Hari via KO, 2:07 of round 1. Demolition Man = The Truth. Overeem knocked Hari down right away with a left hook, then knocked him out for good with another left hook. I wonder if that MMA-rules rematch between these two will still happen…

DREAM rules: Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic def. Hong Man Choi via TKO, 6:32 of round 1. After a few minutes of circling and dodging, a yellow card was issued to both fighters for inactivity and evasiveness. Then, Cro Cop snapped a kick into HMC’s balls. After recovering, Choi takes one solid kick to the left leg and drops in agony. Pathetic enough for you? After the bout, Mirko announced that he’d be out for six months due to knee surgery.

K-1 rules: Gegard Mousasi def. Musashi via KO, 2:32 of round 1. Total destruction. MMA fighters kicked ass tonight.

DREAM rules: Melvin Manhoef def. Mark Hunt via KO, 0:18 of round 1. Despite the tremendous size disadvantage, Manhoef was able to overcome Hunt’s legendary chin with a behemoth 1-2 combo. It was the first time Hunt has been stopped via strikes in an MMA match.

DREAM rules: Shinya Aoki def. Eddie Alvarez via submission (heel-hook), 1:32 of round 1. After a failed takedown attempt, Aoki buttscoot-chased Alvarez around the ring until the fight was stood up. Aoki caught a kick from Alvarez then jumped onto his back, but Alvarez reversed and briefly had mount. Aoki escaped, pulled guard, then transitioned into a successful heel-hook.

DREAM rules: Kiyoshi Tamura def. Kazushi Sakuraba via unanimous decision. The majority of the fight saw Tamura abusing Sakuraba from top position. Outside of a couple half-hearted triangle attempts, Saku never really threatened Tamura. A yellow card was issued to both fighters in the second round for not fighting aggressively.

Props to MMA Japan and Sherdog. Videos to come later…

Overeem is a roid junkie.

Between the INSANE increase in lean muscle mass and his complexion change, it's pretty clear he is juicing.

New Year's Resolution: I will kick my apparent addiction to watching boring 7'2 techno loving asain fighters, I say it every year... but damn it, this year i'm serious.

I agree with Snuffy, Mousasi and Manhoef should go the the UFC and fight Anderson Silva. It appears Cro Cop decided to go on the offensive with the groin kicks. For groin kicks, it is better to give than receive.

I was talking to a guy here at work about the same thing. To think, Alistair used to fight at 205 in Pride. I used to joke that if you removed his bicep muscles he would only weigh 175. No way he is ever making 205 ever again. Dude is huge.

The Hunt stoppage was maybe a little early.. He might have recovered... (Might) but it probably would have ended the same way..

"After a few minutes of circling and dodging, a yellow card was issued to both fighters for inactivity and evasiveness. Then, Cro Cop snapped a kick into HMC's balls."

I know Overeem has always been in great shape. That being said when did he turn into Supper Shredder? Seriously, every time i see this guys is is bigger than he was before. Obviously this could all be natural and he has the time to do it but my god. I'm just used to seeing fighters stick to a single wight class for years and years and it was a little shocking to see such a change.
Snuffy- December 31, 2008 at 7:45 am
True words Anonymous. They dont need to, but it would be great to see them fight The Spider.

And yeah, this post is a huge spoiler for anyone surfing in!

Now its time to get hammered! Happy new years from Sweden!

Mousasi: "I'm now going for a 93kg fighting weight, and once I get over 100kg I'll want to fight more in K-1 rules."

And after seeing what Alistair did to Hari don't be surprised that FEG will give him a fat contract to also fight in K-1 tourneys.

They don't need to go to UFC, Snuffy.
Snuffy- December 31, 2008 at 7:22 am
Manhoef and Mousasi need to go to the ufc mw division asap!

Wow Hunt got KO? Damn how times are changing!
Figured the Cro Cop match would be a bore but Yellow Cards? Also another lay off to get his knee worked on again? Didnt he just do that like last year?
