Fight of the Day: Razor vs. Cowboy
Even though it never made it onto the broadcast of WEC 36 — a gross oversight that actually led to people getting demoted — the lightweight war between "Razor" Rob McCullough and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone still managed to make it onto many MMA pundits' fights-of-the-year lists. But unless you caught the WEC's "Best of 2008" special last month, this may be the first time you'll see it in its entirety. Part one is above, and part two is after the jump; major props to MMA Scraps.
The tone is set in the first round round as McCullough drops the much-taller Cerrone with punches twice, but Cowboy manages to keep his shit together, score a knockdown of his own, then pounce on Razor and nail him with some heavy ground-and-pound. A bloodied and mouthpiece-less McCullough reverses the position, but finds himself knocked to the mat two more times before the bell rings. And that's just the first five minutes. Enjoy...

Awesome fight. Lot of heart by both fighters.
nonamebiach Says:
damn both of them are real tough
Derekrva Says:
I liked that fight more than Faber vs. Pulver. Greg Jackson fighters were the truth in '08
MMA Wannabe Says:
Yeah, that was a really good fight. Props to both.
Acrocerid Says:
Frank Mir would be a kickass commentator if he was just a little more lucid. Sometimes he goes off on these unnecessary comparisons like the long distance runner example that must leave most viewers distracted or confused.
Kinniard Says:
Man what a good fight. Awsome first round.
Kinniard Says:
I think they should at least get a shot in UFC. The lightweight division isn't as stacked as BJ thinks it is. Lightweights could use some new blood. But not as much as the Middleweight and heavy weights. They seem to be working on that now.

Great Fight! Tyvm

Cerrone definitely deserves a shot in the UFC. He's a young, undefeated fighter with nothing but upside. An instant contender in my opinion.
McCullough, on the other hand, is probably on his way down and has never shown he has what it takes to compete for the title in the UFC. He should go down to 145.
brandon Says:
Yeah the commentary from Frank Mir was pretty enjoyable for the most part. He does tend to get a little philosophical at times, as we've seen before. Good fight!

"Fight of the Day" ?
That would usually require a new fight put up everyday, and you queerbaits can hardly handle the fight of the week, for fuck sakes the Mark Coleman fight is still up there

BONGBONG Says:
Seems like Mirr is reading notes instead of watching the fight.... less MMA for dummies and more POW!! right in the kisser !!
Awesome fight....Cerrone needs to upgrade his defense on his feet seems realy open for KO headshots...
Thanks for this fight of the day....QUEER BAITS !!
Darwin Says:
Frank is the man, anybody else remember seeing the "Cowboy" on TAPOUT? boys sure comes a long way, and you people say that show is bad for MMA ...
Where's Kimbo :( he needs to go get tooled by Fedor, then Brock, then Carwin all in the same year ... his bread will get turned into pudding.
Mescanator Says:
They should of aired this fight on the broadcast. Assholes.
AussieJosh Says:
How long do you need to hold the belt, and how many fghts in a row do you need to win before you move to the UFC?
Joe Dirt Says:
How could the WEC not air this on the live event? This fight is the reason why people become MMA fans. Great f'n fight! Both guys are warriors!!
CJ Says:
One guy getting pounded on for a whole fight doesn't make it an awesome fight.
Hows Taste My PPP Says:
CJ, your a dumbass if you think that was one sided.
Only when Razor was mounted was it onesided, the rest was an even battle.
