‘Fight for ALF’ Final Update: GET IN YOUR DONATIONS, DAMN IT!

After nearly two months, the Potato Nation has raised $3,186 for our friend Laura Nicholson, who is currently slippin’ and rippin’ in her fight against Hodgkins lymphoma. And though it looks like we’ll fall short of the $5,000 goal we set for ourselves two months ago, Laura is incredibly appreciative of your support, and I’m personally touched by how generous you’ve all been.

Our fundraising drive officially ends this Sunday, so if you haven’t donated already, please visit our Indiegogo page and do so! Every little bit will cover some of Laura’s medical expenses, and help bring a smile to her face. And that, my friends, is priceless. Thanks again, and read on for the final installment of angrylittlefeet‘s Fight for ALF blog. -BG

Can you believe it, ‘Taters? As I write this there are only four days left in our Fight for Alf campaign. Time flies. Whether you’re having fun or not, apparently.

Anyway this will most likely be my last update. Therefore I want to say a huge Thank You one last time to every single one of you who were able to donate a little something and also to everybody who has been behind me this whole time with kindness and words of encouragement. (The haters and the spammers can eat a bag of dicks.)

Everybody knows that cancer sucks. Bad. It completely changes your life whether you like it or not. That being the case, I have decided to end this last update with some positive things that have come from this situation.

* The ‘ice cream rx’. I can’t seem to keep my weight above 95lbs. Therefore I have been given carte blanche to eat whatever I want whenever I want. I love ice cream and chocolate and treats. And soft pretzels at 2 in the morning. This most definitely does not suck.

* My day starts when I goddam well feel like it. When I was able to work I was up every day promptly at 5 am. No longer getting paid…That shit ain’t happening. It brings great joy to look at the clock around 8am, tell said clock to go fuck itself, roll over and go back to sleep.

*Plenty of time to read now. Each chemo session lasts about 6 hours. The first mixture of it they put in some nice ativan which induces nappy time. But the next mixture is where they add in my steroids which seem to wake me up so I still have 5 hours or so to read. So yeah — guess I couldn’t pass any piss tests these days.

*Also plenty of time to catch up on TV shows. Working my way thru The Wire still. Next is The Sopranos. If anybody has any good suggestions for after that I’d love to hear them. No porn please you fuckin savages.

* Yeah – I’m that asshole who has way too much time to lurk on Twitter :)

There are other positive things too – but I’ve probably already crossed over into TL;DR territory for some of you.

Thanks again to you all. It’s been real fun writing these for you guys. Well, that and it’s not like I had a whole lot of anything better to do ;)

Take care of yourselves and enjoy the fights.

If your looking for great shows to watch I would highly recommend Battlestar Galactica, the new series, not the one from way back, also Rome is an incredible show that was on HBO a while back, and if your looking for laughs, there is an amazing Canadian show called Trailer Park Boys, if will have you laughing like crazy, lol

I haven't got much hair on my head to shave, how bout my back?
macreadysshack- July 25, 2013 at 10:35 am
I'm glad you guys mentioned Supernatural. Just the first six seasons, though, k? Seven is OKAY but eight done blowed. There are 23 forty five minute episodes per season so that's like 193 days worth of dudes driving around the country in a gas guzzler, acting tough, crying and fighting shit - yeah, pretty great.

Have you considered the collected works of Mr. Bean?
The12ozCurls- July 25, 2013 at 10:07 am

Don't worry - much like ReX - I don't have to worry about "losing 18 inches or anything" either.

@12 oz Man - be careful down there! That's all I got to say! And thanks for the movie idea <3

I love ya Laura, but I'm kind of in a personal situation where I need my lettuce to make me more desirable in certain areas with ummmm ummmm . . . . . . you know what I'm talking about - so no GSP hair cut for me. I will, however, shave ALL my pubes - which is waaaaaaay more dangerous.

TV viewing-wise:
There was a little movie series that started in 1980 and the last installment was in 2007. It is called TABOO. You will love it ;) I sure the hell did.

Much love.

@Grimmy I'm already a die-hard(see what I did there) Walking Dead fan. All caught up.
Never even heard of Once Upon a Time. I'll investigate.
Saw 1st 3 seasons of Supernatural. May give it another try.
I've been interested in Spatacus & Dexter.. but don't get those channels :(
I'm already all over True Blood like a rat on a cheeto :)
Thanks for the recommendations!!

@Rex Okay. But uh... let's not talk about losing 18+ inches shall we
Grimmy- July 25, 2013 at 9:13 am
Some series (TV) that I would recommend:
The Walking Dead (3 seasons so far, and its a bit different from the comics, but still have similar themes and people to keep comic fans as fans of the show)
Once Upon A Time (i know its an ABC show, but it is pretty damn fun to watch.)
Supernatural (I got started late on this, but i think the series got better as it went on)
Spartacus (I know you said no porn, but this show is worth it. I did rename the season one as "BLOOD AND SEX" from its title "BLOOD AND SAND"). The whole series has concluded so its something you can watch and be done with it)
Dexter (the season with John Lithgow was by far the best)
True Blood (while last seasons was iffy, the ones leading up to it were entertaining enough, and the jury is still out for the current season)
Shameless (even though some of it hits close to home with the poor white disfunctional family stuff, still fun to watch from the outside)

Always hoping the best for ya,

I can second Once Upon a Time, the kids have got me hooked on it.
angry little feet- July 25, 2013 at 9:07 am
@Rex You sure you want to do that? Cuz I wouldn't if given the choice!
ReX13- July 25, 2013 at 9:21 am
Well, i cut all my hair off a couple of months ago, so it's not like i'm losing 18 inches or anything.
Hutch- July 25, 2013 at 8:55 am
@rex I'm in for sure. I already shave my head, but this next ones for you alf.
ReX13- July 25, 2013 at 8:28 am
Who's shaving their head for ALF with me this weekend?

angry little feet- July 25, 2013 at 8:28 am
Thanks Fried Taco. I'll check out Community. All caught up on GOT. And read all books. Twice- because good old George R.R. took so friggin long with the last one I had kinda forgotten half of the genealogies and shit.
Fried Taco- July 25, 2013 at 12:45 pm
If you need more reading material, I recommend Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastards series (new one coming in September), Joe Abercrombie's First Law series (now a monthly graphic novel as well!) and all of Robin Hobb's books (read them in order for best understanding).

Nice to hear you are keeping up the good spirits! To help with your weight problem, order Arby's curly fries and a black cow shake (if they have them by you) and dip the fries in the shake. I can attest that this will help you gain weight!

And for shows, I recommend Community for lots of laughs. And of course make sure you are all caught up on Game of Thrones. And read the books while you're at it, so you can be a true GoT geek!!
