Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Fight Videos: Gina Carano’s Next Opponent, WEC Highlights

Now that it’s looking more likely that Gina Carano will face Kelly Kobald-Gavin at EliteXC’s next CBS card on October 4th, we decided to do some scouting. Above is the video of KK-G‘s last win, which came against Adrienna Jenkins last March in Minneapolis at an all-female fight event called “NFF: The Breakout.” (Props to MMALinker.) Watch as Kobald comes out like a woman scorned, beating Jenkins to the mat with power punches, then tying her up in a triangle choke and slugging her in the face until she gives up. Reffing provided by the incomparable Nick “The Goat” Thompson!

Now, some fights from last night’s WEC show

(The brief and violent lightweight title match between Jamie Varner and Marcus Hicks.)

(The bantamweight slugfest between Brian Bowles and Damacio Page.)

(Brian Stann loses his light-heavyweight belt to Steve Cantwell.)

(Condit vs. Miura, part 1)

(Condit vs. Miura, part 2)

To what the........I walk around at 5' 3" 125 and I would destroy everyone on this planet. I choose not to fight because MMA pays shit. Besides, in another six months I'm eligible for McD's junior assistant manager training program, and I get all the apple pies I can eat, so suck it world.

i was hoping women fighters in MMA would look better since the whole grappling aspect means that you don't need to be built like a roided out he/she with a tucked in puss-cock in order to win a fight.

but oh no, now the boobless freaks are lining up to crack some skulls and now it's all over.

i just hate how women have to ape male bravado thinking it's some how impressive when they just look rediculous.

Gina is thick, not fat, there's a difference. Just because she's not a pathetic bag of bones worrying about her makeup and only chewing her food and spitting it out to not gain weight then she's fat? Some of these guys should post pictures of their ladies so we can all see the reed thin supermodels they are dating. These guys are like "Dude, she's so fat she still gets her period!"

Why isn't Carano fighting Cyborg? Doesn't want to get her shit pushed in with a 6 ounce glove? Has a photo shoot that prefers no disfiurement? I walk around @ 6'3" 235 and I would be nervous fighting that Cyborg chick. Her strikes would indicate she has a Y chromosome. She is what GSP would look like as a tranny. She would dominate any female I have ever seen fight, and most males her size. I would say I'm hugging her nuts but she has none. *blood test pending*

>Do we need hot female round card chicks at an all female mma event?

When the fighters look like those bull dykes? Hell yeah!!
You might prefer getting teabagged by Tito but most guys would rather see firm breasts, shapely legs and tight ass.

Hicks took a Sakuraba like beating.
Tell me seriously if you can that those shots wont leave him Rampage-like?

Im in Buffalo so I remember how hockey player Pat LaFontaine got hit in the head, suffered post-concussion syndrome and was never the same. He retired in a failed comeback after Buffalo doctors refused to clear him, he was traded to NY where he was bumped by accident by a teammat shortily after. Any of the knees Hicks took was more vicious than the Leroux shot which ended Lafontaine's career.

oh yea, and Gina "lunch Box" Carrano is going to get her mouse knuckle pounded by Cyborg. maybe even eaten too. assuming Cyborg doesnt test positive for having a cock and balls. my god she's a beast

Condit was jet lagged and shitting curry. these ass holes need to stop sending champs on PR tours. it fucks up their game. ask chuck.

What's the deal with all female MMA fighters sporting dreads?

Do we need hot female round card chicks at an all female mma event?

Wonderful announcers at that event too.

I love how the pace has had time to "slow down considerably" 20 seconds into the fight.

I like how Jenkins "submission defence is excellent" despite spending about 5 total seconds in Kobald's guard before getting stuck in two triangles. I think the sad part is how weak Kobald's submission offense is having her in a triangle that deep for 2 minutes and not being able to finish it. Gina "FattyMcFatFat" Carano will kick this chicks ass! The fight will be over in the first round. I guarentee it.

I can definitely see what you're saying when you say the fights seemed weird. There was just something missing or off about them.

The fights themselves were good, entertaining for sure. I think we're just missing that polish and experience that you see in UFC events and the heavyweight division of Affliction.

How the hell are both fighters completely gassed at the beginning of round 4 in a championship fight? Welterweights, no less. This fight, as good as it was, is a good example of why Condit isn't brought up in discussions about the best welterweights in the world. Conditioning is a very basic part of a fighter's skill level, in my opinion. In the inexperienced it decides fights, in the champions and the experienced fighters it's merely an afterthought because they've long ago mastered the techniques and training necessary to prepare them for 5 rounds of fighting.

I haven't really looked at the top 10 welterweights here at CG, at least not passed GSP and Fitch, so there may be people on that list that Condit can beat. I'm just saying, I expect the top 10 fights in almost every weight class to be able to go 5 rounds no problem.

I would like to hand it to Miura for putting on a carl perisian like judo clinic for Condit. The best part of the match was when the commentor watched Condit block a hip toss "Carlos has worked hard in training for this fight to defend those judo throws" Then no more then 30sec later, WHAM! Condit is on his back. To bad he wouldn't capitalize on them, still a very entertaining fight
Xamot- August 3, 2008 at 8:06 pm
The Condit/Miura fight was pretty sweet. At first i thought Miura was going to be another token international fighter with a narrow bag of tricks. i was right about the last part but Miura definitely wasn't a token fighter. too bad he got gassed out in the last round and fell asleep on Condit's knee.

though Condit won, he seems like he definitely needs to improve his cardio if he wants to push that pace for every single round.

As for Stann, apparently being able to block his right punch nulifies his entire arsenal. Marcus Hicks could have had that match if his only effective choke didn't happen to be the same one that Varner meticulously trained against.

overall, the fights seemed weird. even Damacio Page's loss was odd, he just stood there as that guillotine choke tightened on him.
