Sure, he failed his first test at the elite level, but Big Ben hung in with an on-fire Arlovski for three rounds, which is pretty damn respectable. We trust that Affliction will give him another quality opponent at their next show, and we’ll reserve full judgment until then.

yea i dunno how u have tim sylvia in the top 10 and not frank mir... tims 1 of four while frank is 3 of 4....sure the first 2 of that four go back 2 years and he did lose to brandon vera, but he was still rusty and in horrible shape from his motorcycle accident....however, in his last two fights he has looked like the frank mir of old with top notch jiu-jitsu that could easily submit even the best of the heavy-weight division

..or at least the Cro Cop of old is. After dropping out of the UFC and going back to the freakshow/prowrestling circuit how can he still be on the list? Even though Timmay got punked by Fedor, he still deserves to be above Cro Flop. And what's about Ben Rothwell? That dude HAS A CHIN. I've never seen anyone take that kind of punishment and still be standing.

I agree with cage Pot for the most part. For the people above I just have a few comments. Taking punishment only means a good show unless you can serve some up yourself so Rothwell is as high as he should be. Mir hasn't beaten a top ten in recent and do you really think he looked THAT good against Lesnar? He submitted a novice who had no jiu-jitsu skills and who was pounding Mir's face in up till that slip.

Re: Rothwell. I think he deserves to be in the Top 10, just barely - right where he is. That being said, I think it's a sad statement on the state of the Heavyweight Division as a whole. There's four or five great to incredible fighters, and then a bunch of chumps. It's sad.
And the commenters are right - Cro Cop is not only too high, but there's no way he even deserves to be on this list. I was as big a Mirko Cro Cop fan as you could find at one point, but he's failed in the past year against mid-level competition and gone back to doing the glorified attention-grabbing head kick exhibitions in Japan that people always pointed to in citing how overrated he was in the first place.
Recommended to the Top 10:
- Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. He hasn't faced the Fedors or Arlovskis or even the Sylvias of the Heavyweight Division, but his complete dominance thus far against decent fighters combined with his naturally enormous frame (combined with freakish speed and agility for a man his size) deserves some notice.
- Cain Velasquez. I'm not saying Top 5, because he hasn't been tested against a contender yet. However, he looked damn good against O'Brien. He fought that fight the way Brock Lesnar - with his size, athleticism, and skill set - should fight all of his.

yes he is THAT good....brock lesnar is going to be dominate in the heavyweight division and mir caught him in a hard submission, but even before Lesnar, Mir submitted antoni hardonk who is familiar with jiu-jitsu .....and frank mir was the title holder up until that motorcycle accident....so yea the guy who snapped #8's arm (i dont care if it was 4 years ago) in less than a minute deserves to be on the list

I don't get how Randy is consistently ranked above Josh Barnett (who, of course, beat him). Looking back to Randy's most recent title run, his win over Gonzaga is certainly not worth what it once was and Sylvia is one more loss from being out of the top ten as well. If he had fought Big Nog (and won, although that probably would not have happened) my point would be moot, but his inactivity and his record do not merit him being so highly ranked. The only reason that I am looking forward to his eventual fight with Fedor is that he will retire after a humiliating defeat and this conversation can end. And speaking of guys who should be considered, Allistair Overeem anyone?
