BIG CHRIS Says:
How is Forrest Griffin ranked 1 in Light heavy over Lyoto Machida and 10th overall under Machida....that is a huge contradiction!! He should be higher in the overall rankings...
spenny G Says:
no he shouldn't.
Xamot Says:
nice inclusion of Torres i love watching that guy fight. he just never stops attacking even if he's crumbled in a ball in on himself with nothing but a free forearm and fist flailing towards his opponent's face.
rocky Says:
ahem... fedor fedor fedor fedor. fedor fedor fedor.
Unhype the Hype. Says:
Just because Forrest beat a washed up Shogun and was able to kick and run to win a decision with Rampage doesn't mean he should be on anyone's pound for pound list. He seems like a good guy, but I'm not sure how much he's proved himself as a good fighter. Lyoto is a lot of hype.. not saying he won't be a fantastic fighter in another year or so, but hasn't really proved a lot yet. They both need to prove their mettle against a few more tough opponents before I'd give them pound for pound status. Let's see Forrest/Jardine 2 or Forrest/Chuck and maybe then I'll shut up. And we'll see how Lyoto does against Thaigo Silva.
Chad Says:
Anderson deserves the #1 spot most definitely. When Fedor fights someone again with a ground game like Noguiera, who has taken Fedor the limit twice with Fedor getting the decision both times, and not Sylvia who has not ground game.
Adam Says:
I agree, Forrest and Lyoto are the same weight. If Forrest is better in the 205 then he must be better pound-for-pound. Pound for pound is such a bogus concept anyway.
Bill C. Says:
Chad: "When Fedor fights someone again with a ground game like Noguiera, who has taken Fedor the limit twice with Fedor getting the decision both times"
But have you actually seen the two fights that went the distance? Fedor completely dominated on the ground. Especially in the first fight, Fedor annihilated Nog with g'n'p.
FEDOR #1!!!! Says:
Chad he may have taken Fedor to a decision but Fedor murdered him lmao. you see when he was smashing his face on the ground?
Fedor should be #1
random Says:
chad youre a fucking pedejo
Drewplata Says:
I guess you guys are better at being funny than you are good at making top 10 lists! Miguel Torres should be no lower than 6 and, due to this whole Forrest Griffin disaster, it is impossible to rank any LHWs in the top 10 p4p; Big Chris is right with the apparent contradiction. I'd also put BJ above GSP, considering his ability to fight at multiple weight classes. I know GSP beat BJ, but so did Machida. He fights outside his natural weight class, against serious competition (not the James Irvins of the world) and performs more than admirably. Machida could not finish him (not that he finishes anyone) and GSP squeaked out a tight decision. The only way to settle the GSP/BJ question is to have them fight at a catch weight so neither man has the advantage.
ruckus Says:
the forrest, lyoto rankings do appear to be a contradiction... but it does make some intuitive sense, unless you hate either forrest/machida for some reason... (if you think the fact that he beats his opponents is a disaster, then you probably do.)
its hard to rank lyoto at 205, because he hasnt been given the opponents. but, the fact that people dont want to fight him suggests a lot.
i dont think many fighters would take issue with putting lyoto in the middle of that list.
Nicholas Says:
With Lyoto I agree it is a contradiction, but he looks good and this upcoming fight against Silva will give all of us a good gauge and if he deserves the "pound for pound" credit he's getting.
BJ over GSP? LOL man you make me laugh, because he fights "more than admirably" yeh too bad he still loses at other wiehgt classes, in the UFC alone he had 3 fights at 170, dropping 2 of 3 I highly doubt that he can be placed 3rd in the world based on this.
Also I do feel that Fedor is #1 but by a ridiculously close margin because both him and ANderson are unreal, the whole concept of pound for pound is kind of dumb anyways, but it's all for fun.
NameNotRequired Says:
Nog should be at 6 maybe even 5. He's always fought top 10 competition (Please keep in mind rankings change across time). Never tko'ed/Ko'ed/submitted. Only one fighter has definitively beat him. Nevermind that he avenged his other losses but the Loss to barnett could have gone the other way and Hendo's majority draw win at RINGS is not a loss, yes i know it is listed by all as a split decision.
Rickfurious Says:
Fedor is number 1 pound for pound he has less losses on his record than anderson
that says it all
ox Says:
you guys should make a thread about this in the forums
Friendo Says:
Fedor is #1. He has beaten the the best that are out there save Randy and he has crushed the side show freaks to boot. He has fought opponents that are 20 to 50 kg heavier than himself and won. The guy is amazing he has no weak points in his game. You want to strike? Prepare to get cracked out. You want to roll around? Your going to get submitted. You want to pull guard? He will ground and pound you like a bear would. Fedor is by far the most well rounded fighter on the scene. If we could get the powers that be allow a Fedor V Silva fight we would see the Spider get dominated. It could happen, Silva fought at 206 when he crushed Irvin. I can assure you that after Fedors victory there would be no BS air guitar display.
Justin Says:
1) Lyoto and Forrest= Huge contradiction. 2) It's easy for Fedor to look great when you're fighting a nobody. He hasn't fought anybody lately. And don't say Tim Sylvia, cause he's a P.O.S.
I'm not really anxious to see Lyoto vs. Forrest either. They both do the stick and move thing, but I think Forrest does know how to turn up the intensity. It would probably be a boring fight.
Frank S. Says:
Fedor should be #1
It's mathematically impossible for Forrest to be #10 if Machida is ranked higher than him when forrest is ranked #1 in the same weigh class as Machida.
This pound-for-pound ranking is bogus....
Street Says:
Unhype the hype is a dumb bitch! How the hell you can question Forrest being on the list I don't know. When the man obviously beat rampage, to suggest that he could prove himself by beating Jardine or the washed up Liddell is ridiculous. He definitely deserves to be on the p4p list, but should be higher. B.J. over GSP, what? GSP is by far a better fighter than B.J.
Forrest through the trees Says:
If Forrest is infact a worse fighter than the "Dragon" P4P, then he should just be ranked lower than him in the LHW division. Who gives a shit if he does have the belt, or as Forrest himself says, "I am the LHW champ, at least until my next fight."
