1.Georges St. Pierre
-
2.Jon FitchHe’s earned his shot at the UFC welterweight belt, and has been given the official blessing by Dana White. The question is, is Jon Fitch in GSP’s league? After St. Pierre’s dominant performance at UFC 83, it’s hard to say. But you don’t rack up a win streak like Fitch’s unless you’re made of championship material.

3.Matt Hughes

4.Jake ShieldsFor all intents and purposes, Shields is EliteXC’s welterweight champion, and he’ll have a chance to make it official on June 14th in Honolulu. His current nine-fight win-streak includes victories over big names like Yushin Okami and Carlos Condit, and he’s also put guys like Hayato Sakurai and Akira Kikuchi to bed. Keep watching this dude.

5.Hayato Sakurai

6.Josh Koscheck

7.Diego Sanchez
-
8.Carlos Condit, Nick ThompsonUnfortunately, this deadlock won’t be broken until one of them faces Top 10 competition, or one of them loses - neither of which are likely scenarios.
-
9.Matt SerraWhether Serra’s brief championship reign will truly be considered a fluke depends on his performance in his next fights. If he gets demolished by Matt Hughes or loses to secondary contenders like Diego Sanchez, Thiago Alves, or Marcus Davis, it’ll be a one-way ticket back to palookaville.

Jake Shields at #4? He definitely has a lot of potential, but not #4. Did he KO Sakurai or Akira? I thought he won a decision against Sakurai (Shooto 2002) and was beated by Akira last time they fought (but won a decision victory in first fight). I have never seen the fights and am relying to Sherdog, so I am just wondering.
Regardless, I'm curious as to why you put Shields at #4.

Diego in from of Koscheck...

Man, Koscheck shouldn't even be on the list. The only "Name" he's beat is Diego Sanchez and I'm pretty sure Diego would rip his head off in a rematch. Diego has beaten Karo & Nick Diaz Those wins alone put Diego over Koscheck. Watching Koscheck out wrestle his opponents and then just sit on them for three rounds is BORING. Thats why he only make $10,000 a fight. Maybe he should drop down to the WEC. He could fight, sorry he could lose to Condit and Brock Larsen. Larsen win via TKO, Condit via Triangle choke. Let me know what you think

Why is Matt Hughes still top ten....think he lost his edge when he left Miletich's camp. Everyone saw how bad a coach he is on TUF, right? And then he opens the H.I.T. Squad gym...
