F**k! Chuck Liddell Injured, Out of UFC 85

(Sorry Nate, the Iceman has been doing the goofy-punch for years.)

It seems that the curse of Mauricio Rua extends past Shogun himself. MMARated brings us the disappointing news that Chuck Liddell recently sustained an injury and will not be fighting Rashad Evans in the main event of UFC 85 (June 7th, London); Liddell and Evans will supposedly face each other later in the summer. Liddell was originally supposed to fight Rua in UFC 85′s main event, but Rua ruptured his ACL and was replaced by Evans. No other information on Chuck’s condition is available at the moment.

Since UFC 85 doesn’t have a title fight attached to it — the other notable bouts on the card are a heavyweight match between Brandon Vera and Fabricio Werdum, and a welterweight bout between Marcus Davis and Mike Swick — Chuck’s injury represents a big loss for the event. If I was Dana White, I’d be calling Michael Bisping right now to see how his knees were doing. Not only is the Count a huge draw in his hometown, but he’s also two dominant wins away from being a credible opponent to Anderson Silva (from a marketing standpoint, at least). Unless they want the Spider on ice for the better part of a year, dreaming about boxing money, the UFC would be wise to arrange those fights for Bisping as soon as possible; and six weeks is about as soon as it gets. Nate Marquardt is already penciled in on the card to face Thales Leites. Why not poach him for an opponent?

This is so lame. It went from:

Shogun vs liddel

Evan vs liddel

Hughes vs Alves.

This card has slowly gone to shit and from the looks of it its gonna keep going to shit. Even if its free on spike i prolly wont watch it, these are some lame ass fights. Luckily UFC 84 is gonna be by far the best card yet.
JBulgin- April 22, 2008 at 5:28 pm
(sorry 3 more fights to be added) i saw bisping at ufc 75 but you will never replace chuck no matter how many fights you put on... its quality over quantity
JBulgin- April 22, 2008 at 5:23 pm
its gonna be.... (with 4 more fights to be added)
main event

main card

Preliminary card
CARNEIRO vs (someone)
JBulgin- April 21, 2008 at 9:34 pm
if liddell aint fighting then whos it gonna be? someone who can draw the ppv viewers in, and liddell is the number 1 for PPV's.
and in a shitty attempt to revamp ufc 85 danas stated its gonna be the biggest UFC ever with 13fights on the card...but to me its quality over quantity. dana just better do something to wow everybody or UFC85 will make no money and might lose alot of fans ( plus on english telly there are still advertising liddell vs evans )which is wrong because they are waiting for the event to be sold out to turn around and get a new main event! clocks ticking..............

Liddell is looking out for #1. and if you were in his shoes and had the power to fake an injury then you'd do the same thing. Why loose the title over some jet lag. Plus, Liddell isn't the only fighter in UFC - just buy the PPV and shut up.

BTW -sounds like Most of you guys want to queer old Chuck or something.
Bill- April 21, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Liddell/Rua isn't a main event and Evans/Liddell isn't worth a damn as a main event either, now this thing is worthless. Put it on Spike and call it a day. Sh_it happens, don't make us pay for something that is nobody's fault. The gate is still going to be good money and advertisers will put up good money to Spike. Don't make Bisping fight that soon--and there is nobody worthy of a main event on notice this short.

MMA News should come boxed in a set with a box of tissues and a dress, so's all you queers that are crying over Chuck Liddell tearing a Hamstring can dry your eyes and get back to crossdressing.
knightrida- April 21, 2008 at 3:42 am
Fightfan: You okay over there? Somebody give this guy a hug... or a cup of coffee.

Fill me in if I'm missing something but, would Chuck know where the fight would be before committing to the event? Obviously we know that money's not an issue for him, and with his stature he could easily pull off a fake injury and not be questioned by the powers that be but, why would he say yes to fighting Evans if it was going to be in England and he doesnt want to travel there? Does anyone know if (or think they know) which comes first, the matchup or the location? I'm too drunk to think about this kind of shiet.

f**k kimbo, yea he could kick my ass, but he ain't a real mma fighter. who has he fought? some no names and a has been. put him against some real tallent and watch him crumble.
moo- April 21, 2008 at 3:05 am
Heres a quote from Dana White on

"Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell tore his right hamstring during training last week, and being the warrior that he is, he still wanted to fight, which is the reason why everyone in the world loves him," said Dana White, UFC President. "But I wouldn't let anyone fight with his leg looking that way. Let him heal and come back and fight when he is 100 percent."
NipGrip- April 21, 2008 at 2:57 am
See there.. Kimbo is already layin' down the pain using nothing but his words so far. Chuck don't want none of Beardy Brickfisty.
joe- April 21, 2008 at 2:51 am
shut up... cant you get a point across without me having to read that much..... im drunk.... give a black man a chance
fightfan- April 21, 2008 at 2:33 am
I might have to agree with JBulgin....I remember all the posts about Liddell having NO DESIRE at all to travel over to the UK. Anyhow that sucks and this better be a Free SPIKE show, then again you got people that pay for PPV's no matter how horrible they are. I personally would not spend a dollar on this one.

And to the "adding" of Bisping on the card horseshit.....I am sure I will piss off Bisping fans, but here it goes.

Bisping is such a joke, well not a joke. He is an average fighter set in the UFC to fight VERY VERY VERY below average or ONE DIMENSIONAL fighters. He is there for business and business, PERIOD. He is there for the allusion to the average fan that Bispign is some great did you see how he was pummeling McCarthy...Wow, does anyone know that McCarthy as well as Sinosec and Schaffaer are ONE DIMENSIONAL BJJ guys, they CAN NOT STRIKE. So they have no business in a fight, sure they do good BJJ matches, and that is it. And Bisping won fights at guys that are NOW WW in small shows that still cant make it(Hanyes and Pointon).

90% of BJJ guys that use that as their ONLY and primary skill will never make it this sport. Another example is poor ALberto Crane. Everyone was saying how great his BJJ game was. Well we saw he has no other and he got absolutely punished TWICE inthe UFC and will never see him again.

What is left???? Oh Hammill, who the UFC paid judges gave him the win and Rashad, anotgher overrated fighter in which Bisping lost to BOTH. Although I hate Nate Diaz and his cockiness. he is what a REAL fighter is all about and at the young age of what 24????? Nate says "he dont wan to be babied or sheltered like these other TUF guys" Nate said he wants to fight tough guys and that is it. And in my book that is a fighter. Just how many fights will it take to face Bisping against someone that is a good striker????? PROBABLY NEVER.

I used to be to biggest fan mma, but the busniess aspect behind it is really starting to piss me off. They DONT WANT the best fighters fighting the best fights. That may be the case after 3 or 4 years of milking fighters dry but giving them very very winnable fights. But right now they want thei known fighters FIGHTIGN fights in whichc they are at lesaat 3 or 4 to one favorites AT THE LEAST!!!!
JBulgin- April 21, 2008 at 1:50 am
this is bullshit... liddel aint injured his team came out and said chuck doesnt really wanna travel a couple of months ago.... lesnar pulls out because theres no money over here, then rua gets injured now liddell "injured" guess chucks wants to stay in his comfort zone and fight in las vegas... FUCK CHUCK!!!!! who he gonna get thiago silver vs mendes?? dana white based this event on liddell, werdum vs vera is a poor fight anyway, swick vs "the irish hand grenade" (yeh ok then) if my best mate was not in to ufc as much as he is i would get my money back!! this is bullshit dana white better do something special to be getting me back intereseted in this event i spent around £250 on this event and it better be worth it! FUCK CHUCK u aint injured your a dickhead who probably wanted more money and dana if you dont put a decent main event you will lose alot of fans over here because i feel cheated!!!!
tim sylvia's pussy- April 21, 2008 at 12:25 am
wow this blows... i agree with Republican Grappler this should be made into something free on spike. i sure wont be ordering this card
knightrida- April 20, 2008 at 11:25 pm
@ Tom Hunt: If you don't like the pie, quit eatin it.
Tom Hunt- April 20, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Do you guys bother to verify this info with any other "soruce" or does this site just cut and past and let the real websites do the real work?
Yea Well But- April 20, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Baaad news for the ufc, especially since it's in a market they're trying to break into (the UK) I bet half the people goin already asked for refunds, I mean really, not much draw power for casual fans in the rest of that card. Dana white must be wretching up a chuck sized piece of fuck pie right about now.
Anonymous- April 20, 2008 at 10:19 pm
i bet chuck took kimbo up on that bare knuckle fight and got demolished
knightrida- April 20, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Oh man, this card is going to suck!! Let's see if Dana can pull one off.
john-boy- April 20, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Well, I'll get straight onto Ticketmaster and get my money back. That sucks soooo bad!
Republican_Grappler- April 20, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Looks like they should put this bad baby on free Spike TV. I'm damn sure not renting a PPV with no real main event.
ben- April 20, 2008 at 8:30 pm
@ ZzFDKzZ:

I was proposing Bisping vs. TBA as a replacement for the headlining event, not Bisping as a replacement for Chuck.
ZzFDKzZ- April 20, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Evans is fighting at 205. The people you mention fight at 185lbs.
