Forrest Griffin Injures Shoulder, Out of Lil’ Nog Fight at UFC 114

("Well, that’s the last time I let Fred do my makeup.")

As first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by more reputable sources — not that TMZ isn’t reputable, particularly when it comes to MMA fighters getting arrested in CaliforniaForrest Griffin recently injured his shoulder, and will not be able to take his scheduled match against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114 (May 29th, Las Vegas). At this point, the extent of Griffin’s injury is unclear, and a replacement opponent has not yet been found for Nogueira, who hasn’t competed since his impressive Octagon debut at UFC 106.

The loss of Griffin vs. Nogueira is an unfortunate hit for UFC 114, which coincides with the UFC’s second Fan Expo — but the lineup is still nicely-stacked; you can check it out after the jump. We’ll update you when we know more on Forrest’s injury, and if a replacement steps up to face Lil’ Nog.

Main Card
Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow

Ya'll think maybe Griffin's eye hurts? dayum.

is it just me but wouldn't you rather see Amir fight on the main card than duffee? Quick dana switch slots before anyone notices.
noizy- May 4, 2010 at 6:13 pm
That photo of Forrest is terrible.
iDestroy- May 4, 2010 at 11:35 am
@ lorenzoe

Yeah. I actually did forget he and Anderson trained together, but I knew the others were Blackhouse. I was making an apparently unfunny joke. Seems to happen a lot.
BONGTAR- May 4, 2010 at 10:07 am
brilz? really? fuck me. that's horse shit. or ubereem's horse meat shit, either way.
BONGTAR- May 4, 2010 at 10:05 am
i think that forrest is cool. i like fights. fuck you.
cecils_pupils- May 4, 2010 at 10:04 am
Anyone who has the nuts to step in and fight one of the Nogueira's on 4-weeks notice has some brass fucking balls, man. Props to Jason Brills... Buuuuuuuuuut, mad respect or not, homie's gonna get murdalized!
Tariq Trotter- May 4, 2010 at 9:38 am
Sorry all jones/thiago speculators (aka rational people) but mmajunkie is reporting Jason brilz has signed up to get wrecked by rogerio. I feel a kotn or sotn coming on.....
Lorenzoe553- May 4, 2010 at 9:29 am
@idestroy-theyre all part of blackhouse man.
iDestroy- May 4, 2010 at 8:47 am
@ Lorenzoe

Oh yeah.

Then give him Machida, or maybe make him go up in weight and fight Dos Santos.
1inchpunch- May 4, 2010 at 8:30 am
u know i wanted to see this fight but a part of me wants to see forrest win a fight so he can get back on track after that devastating anderson loss and i dont think he would have pulled off a win against rogerio.

forrest is a great fighter but rogerio is better all around and just as dangerous as his brother but quicker so i doubt forrest could have found a way to beat him

whoe does the ufc potentially have available for nogueira?
Gladheateher- May 4, 2010 at 8:28 am
Are you talking about Fabrico Wedum?
I think hes doing the SF thing, trying to get a title or a shot at Fedor.
Thatsabingo- May 4, 2010 at 8:28 am
Jones seems like a realist. I doubt he would take this fight on such a short notice. Not saying that he wouldn't do well. Just sayin that he probably understands the benefits of riding the slow train to the top.
Lorenzoe553- May 4, 2010 at 8:28 am
@idestroy-lil nog and anderson are teammates. i doubt theyd ever fight one another.
iDestroy- May 4, 2010 at 8:15 am
Forest is lucky. I'll take shoulder injury over brain trauma any day.

Give Lil Nog, Anderson. Wouldn't that be neato?
justscrappin- May 4, 2010 at 8:06 am
Remember the guy that went to war with Shogun and narrowly ( i saw it a draw) lost? Remember the guy who beat Overeem's overrated ass in the corner? Well his boxing is even crisper and he's in the UFC bitches! Fowlkes is absolutely wants to fight Lil Nog right now? Of course there is the bullshit with him not fighting Machida though. He can pretty much beat everyone but...ooohooooohoooooohhh! I just realized that a rematch with Shogun will probably be down the road soon! Sorry for the ADD but I was thinking and typing rapid fire.
I still say give him Thiago Silva...and have Jones on like a secondary branch fighting who loses one of the 2 big lhw matchups..then get one of the winners if he continues to dominate. Then a title shot...or maybe one more match against whoever is under the champ at the time....then for sure a title shot.
Videodrome_NOW- May 4, 2010 at 7:47 am
For Jones, not Lil Nog.
Smitty- May 4, 2010 at 7:24 am
Forrest was gonna get KTFO anyway. I think he's done. I don't see him beatin another top 5 LHW. Welcome to gatekeepersville Forrest.
LockDown- May 4, 2010 at 7:09 am
DW wouldn't throw away all the hype he is building on Bones Jones. He would be a suitable replacemente but it's an unlikely option so I go with Ryan Bader (I dunno if he is clear tho).

Luiz Cane again? Really?
ReX13- May 4, 2010 at 7:09 am
From Twitter:

benfowlkesMMA Anyone want to fight Lil Nog on four weeks notice? For the record, the correct answer here is 'absolutely not.'

HA! mmafighting cannot break him.
CapitalQ- May 4, 2010 at 7:09 am
well this is just the worst damn thing to see right when I get to work...this fight was gonna be such a great battle. Damnit. I gotta go with Rex on this one. DW aint gonna go for Jon Jones on this unless he begs for it. He might. But yeah Lil Nog needs top competition to stay relevant and bring attention to himself with the fans so they dont think Big Nog cut down to 205 LOL.
ReX13- May 4, 2010 at 7:03 am
Much as it pains me to admit, DW is going the boxing route with some of his young guns: bring them along slowly, feed them lower end competition (not that the UFC has cans), and wait for them to become legends. Jon Jones is one, Junior Dos Santos comes to mind as well.

Li'l Nog needs top competition NOW. Could Thiago Silva be ready to go? That's really all i got.
justscrappin- May 4, 2010 at 6:58 am
Rex buy me a coke! Nah..I don't drink pop...I'm from Buffalo, Ny...yes we say pop...gotta problem with that? Want to fight about it? Anywho...the best thing about those 2 fights even if Jones loses is only his first legitimate loss...and he will be like 23...and still have 10-15 years to become the lhw , more exciting version of GSP. Look how GSP lost to Hughes the first time...but then went on to make him look like a one discipline fighter circa 1994. That's what I see Jones doing somewhere along the path to his rightful throne. We also don't know who will win and lose between these it is all up in the air.... and of course the loser between Machida and Rua can be thrown into this mix at any given time.
justscrappin- May 4, 2010 at 6:50 am
Actually now that I have gone back and seen the other article bout Griffin getting hurt. I now think that considering Jones is already slated to face the Janitor....and Tim Boetsch is severely bush league...put Thiago Silva vs. Lil Nog. Huge fight....winner gets the title shot after the winner of Rampage vs. Rashad. Then have Jones fight one of the 2 losers...and then he fights one of the two guys that won from the original 2 fights...and if he goes through both guys....title shot.
