Let us all put the gay or racist shit to rest. Many here are making what's called a cross level fallacy. You're talking about gays and their "worldly uphill battles for acceptance."
There are 3 levels, the individual level, the national level, and the international community. Let's leave racism on the back burner and focus on the love for gays that you feel may feel all should share.
At the individual level - its all about you, your family and the ones you care for. Ultimately its about keeping one's head on their shoulders, eating when hungry, and procreating. It is the most important level.
(between the individual and (below) national level there are many sub-levels, such as community, city, county, and state levels)
At the national level the individual allows the government to take care of one's safety from all the same threats (foreign and domestic.) The the crops yield quotas the nation requires to not starve, and they ensure that you can have a chance at happiness.
Aside from getting sideways with the Bill of Rights, these provisions clearly includes the same rights to homosexuals. Yet, the reality is at the state level this is not the case, not every state allows gay marriage. The same is true of the Federal level. Yet if there are changes here in the U.S, they only apply to U.S. citizens. For instances gays can now serve openly in the U.S. military, but not be allowed marriage rights in many states. These rights, although obviously dis-jointed hold not validity in Saudi Arabia.
At the international level, there is no such thing as international police to protect national sovereignty - and make sure countries play fair together. Aside from a few treaties in place, it is for all intensive purpose in a state of constant anarchy.
There are less than 200 sovereign nations in existence on the face of the planet, and each is in direct competition with each other for their existence.
Your jumping between levels to mount a defense against this cat named Skeletor. I hear your position, but its flawed. There is no single law that can force one to love a homosexual as he loves his family. The flip side each has an individual right to decide on what feels natural, and what is not natural.
At both the city, country, state, federal and national level, there is not much they can do until old mindsets die, that this will take many generations. Only through specific legislation can homosexuals ever find they are on the same level - it's much like affirmative action. Yet, at the international level (which you refer to as the world), there is nobody to protect the homosexuals, extreme terrorists, drug runners, a family on holiday, or even American soldiers.
That protection is reserved for a government. At the international (jumping past the national level) the individual level will never change how Brazil treats homosexuals, its a waste of time and energy, unless one is a citizen of Brazil.
Only the Brazil can decide this. Same is true of North Korea, Iran, Vatican City, or any other sovereign country.

Brazilians (Nog being one of them) may frown on fags in MMA, who gives a fuck. I see no difference in his disgust as in your embrace. Both have zero effect on me. There is no thinking Utopia, it does not exists in the individuals mind. The mistake is jumping across levels.
Here is how I see it, I think of Nog, homosexuals, Brazilian citizens, or the government of Brazil .... about as often as they think about me?
Luiz Alexandre- August 20, 2011 at 9:47 am
Actually what he said IS a serious issue in Brazil, @RwilsonR. And Google translator is shitty when it comes to actually translating the meaning of what people say. By "evil" he meant something like malicious, you know? He meant that he doesn't think "that way" when he is rolling in the mat with another guy, but he would be uncomfortable to grapple with a gay man because he thinks that his opponent could, somehow, take advantage of the fact that they are so close to make a move, dryhump him or something. Of course that it is a biased opinion, the dude is obvious being homofobic with that statement, but it did not sound to me that he wanted to scorge gay people, it is just plain ignorance.
Pen Fifteen- August 20, 2011 at 8:32 am
It's not clear to me what the problem is with that comparison. People generally want to hold celebrity figures to high standards of promoting general equality because their attitudes have a way of being quite influential. Given that gay people face an uphill battle in many parts of the world, not least a place like Brazil, its sad to see a respected public figure reinforcing that status quo rather than taking a stand for equal rights. I mean, what does Big Nog think is really going to happen to him if he rolls with a gay dude? Will he catch the gay? I don't see the problem in pressing a prejudiced opinion.
RwilsonR- August 20, 2011 at 8:28 am
Did you guys actually read what Big Nog said? I think this is simply a cross-cultural misunderstanding, as views on this aren't as progressive and politically correct where he comes from. From the article:
"But I did not train with gay. I'm not evil, I do not think that sexual physical contact. But will he have this evil of having physical contact with me, clinging to stay there ... I would have no trouble having a gay student in my gym, but would prefer not to train with him," said Nogueira, who was petting a bus and trying to feed it a carrrot at the time.
skeletor- August 20, 2011 at 8:02 am
@Pen Fifteen
Heard this argument before, and you can not compare being gay to being black, white, asian or whatever race you want to. Being gay has nothing to do with competing in athletics, Nog just doesn't want to roll with them. If he didn't want to roll with black guys then that is also his choice. The fact of the matter is this guy fights people in a cage for a living and I don't understand why people are trying to hold him to some sort of high standard of political correctness.
Pen Fifteen- August 20, 2011 at 7:43 am
I think the point is that comments like that reinforce the idea that it's OK to discriminate against gays, as if any guy who would want to "roll around on the ground" with you would be unable to suppress his latent urge to start humping you any time he got to back mount. I mean, would you also not play basketball with a gay dude, because who knows what he'd be thinking when you start boxing him out? Or how about tackling a gay dude in football?
The point is that these kind of sexual politics shouldn't play a role in someone's ability to compete in athletics. Even if you're just expressing a 'personal opinion,' it's a discriminatory one. I mean, how would people act if someone said he didn't want to roll jiu-jitsu with black dudes?
skeletor- August 20, 2011 at 7:27 am
@Spitting into the wind-I've seen several threads in the last couple of days about Nog and the gays. Allot of people have really got there panties in a bunch about this thing. He is not gay bashing or anything he just doesn't want to roll around on the ground with them. It's not like any of these "gays" are going to teach him much and it's not like he is in need of new training partners. I for one agree with him and have nothing against gays, but lets say I have the choice to only roll with two guys 1 strait and 1 gay. As a heterosexual male I will probably choose the one who didn't recently have a cock in his mouth, just sayin.
XENOPHON- August 20, 2011 at 1:42 am
UFC on Fox, might as well say UFC got owned by Fox.
Joe Son, "aka. Random Task" is going to get it hard in the Can.
Jason Momoa vs. Bob Sapp..., who would win?
Good for Nog, just say no to feltching. Even this Atheist agrees that God hates fags!
Burger King, the "King" ruled, they get a "D-". Maybe Dana can reboot him along with 3/4 of his programming as the Fox-UFC mascot.
Machida will give Phil Davis his first loss. It will become clear why pure wrestlers must learn the 10,000 hour rule before thinking MMA is wonderful.
How to win a bar fight, everyone knows MAA is useless when on the ground. It's the best way to get a boot in the face from one of the other guys friends. The two finger Dim Mak is also bullshit. Best to wait until he turns his back to you and use the closest bar stool or keno pencil, or wait and follow him into the bathroom - it's like small cage and regardless if he is standing or sitting the advantage is obvious.
Joe Rogan departs UFC on Fox permanently, his Fear Factor is produced by NBC Universal Television, its parent is Comcast. All is not lost, Rogan will be available for comment at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu. His UFC bong will eventually make it to the UFC Hall of Fame, Eddie Bravo will host the ceremony.
On a side note, Kenny Florian with NOT host UFC 134. He got caught Feltching then "Spitting into the wind" on the back lot of Fox studios.
Dayna Mendoza, slides 4, 5, and 9 - nice camel toe.
Girl Fight At Pita Pit Orlando, has nothing on female mud wrestling in LA, the former Destiny II.
As for Jersey Jim Miller, he got smoked. It's time to head the West coast and find a new gym for 12-18 months.
Tim Hardaway, in time he too will admit he is not only gay, but is contemplating having the transgender make over.
cagefightmon- August 19, 2011 at 10:05 pm
I'm sure they'll do well but I know for a fact that FOX is a horrible organization, for one--AND are horrible to work for. I hope my phones are tapped. Crooked FUX!

featured block is complete bullshit. get rid of that crap already.
akismet, ben -- is it possible in the break framework to apply that, or do they have their own anti-spam measures?
it's sad that minotauro thinks that way, but he's an old-school dude... i wouldn't expect anything else from him. the tim hardaway article was a happy surprise, though.
Luiz Alexandre- August 19, 2011 at 8:37 pm
When Nogueira said those words (in portuguese "evitar maldade") he meant something like to avoid misunderstandings, confusion. He didn't mean that gay people are evil, wrong, or whatsoever. In portuguese his declaration, although a it indelicate and arguably homofobic in some way, doesn't have the same meaning as in english.
Koeikan- August 19, 2011 at 8:04 pm
Yuck... front page is a complete cluster fuck.

CP... get it together already.
2DaDeath- August 19, 2011 at 7:51 pm
Wow! Joe Son is a real piece of shit. Of course I know the story already, but every time I read about it it seriously gets the blood boiling. He should be raped to death with the strap-on from Seven.
GistoftheFist- August 19, 2011 at 7:16 pm
You missed a link with that Vick entry.
Spitting into the wind- August 19, 2011 at 6:09 pm
Wow thats some pretty stupid shit from Big Nog. Hopefully Brendan Shaub can knock his old ass out in front of his home fans. Or maybe make him submit with some surprise butt sex. At the very least 3 unlubed fingers. He'd wanna catch him at the start tho when he is not sweaty, for extra effectiveness.
