Gambling Addiction Enabler: UFC Fight Night 21

(Welcome to Kenny Florian‘s den of debauchery. Enter with an open mind, and leave your innocence at the door. Photo courtesy of Combat Lifestyle.)

After a successful weekend that saw your old pal the Enabler totally nail his official parlay pick, it’s time to reload for Wednesday’s “Florian vs. Gomi” Fight Night event live from the (not really) historic Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Let’s look at some lines, courtesy of

Kenny Florian (-275) vs. Takanori Gomi (+275)
Roy Nelson (-290) vs. Stefan Struve (+270)
Ross Pearson (-200) vs. Dennis Siver (+183)
Nate Quarry (-245) vs. Jorge Rivera (+220)
Andre Winner (-169) vs. Rafaello Oliveira (+150)
Jacob Volkmann (+220) vs. Ronnys Torres (-231)
Rob Emerson (+113) vs. Nik Lentz (-140)
Caol Uno (+251) vs. Gleison Tibau (-265)
Yushin Okami (-500) vs. Lucio Linhares (+450)
Gerald Harris (-155) vs. Mario Miranda (+130)
Charlie Brenneman (+150) vs. Jason High (-180)

The breakdown…

- As great as it is to finally see Gomi in the UFC, nothing we’ve seen from him recently suggests that he’s going to be the force that he once was in Pride. Maybe his journey to AKA helped him rediscover his passion for the sport, but he’s getting a tough first test against KenFlo, who may very well be the UFC’s second-best lightweight. Florian takes this, but the long odds, combined with the wild card of Gomi’s punching power, have convinced me to save it for the parlay.

– Reach and the elevation of his chin are the only advantages Struve enjoys over “Big Country,” and that’s not enough. He’ll be outgunned on the mat and overpowered on the feet, so I’m going with Nelson here, but also via my old friend the parlay bet.

Quick Picks: I like Quarry over Rivera, Winner over Oliveira, Tibau over Uno, Lentz over Emerson, Okami over Linhares, Harris over Miranda, and High over Brenneman.

Underdogs: Don’t sleep on Dennis Siver. He’s been on an upward trajectory of late, and he could surprise Pearson. “Christmas” Volkmann is also worth a look, if only because he knows he needs to win or go home here.

Official Cage Potato Parlay: Florian + Nelson + Quarry + Okami. I like my parlay bets nice and gutless, thank you very much.

If anyone is picking against Florian, they're throwing away good money

I think Gomi and Struve are both good value underdog picks. I'd really love to see the Fireball Kid light up Florian. Also, I like the ever improving (and adding weight) Struve vs the not as good as he thinks he is Nelson.

I am officially jealous of Aaron Rampey. He is not only is the undisputed King of Fightpicker (wtf... like almost 3000 points!), but the guy is actually gonna be there at Bojangles in Charlotte tomorrow night. Yep,... officially jealous.

Have fun Rampey!

@ sideburnz he has fought a good opponent in bj penn and he got embarrased so yeah he sucks the UFC is just pushing him like they do all their TUF bums. Gomi is gonna win the only way he can lose is to a weak ass positional dominance decision loss. Gomi by KO.

Can anyone find a way to view odds from past events on BestFightOdds? I want to see the Hardy/GSP betting line right before the fight.

I do think Kenny is the second best lightweight (not just in the UFC, but on Earth). It's too bad Sanchez' face just went through the mulcher -- I'd like to see the two of them square up.

Anyone know if this Florian dude is any good? I don't think he's had any Pride fights...
