According to a report on Sherdog, Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has ended his professional relationship with M-1 Global, the promotional outfit best known for handling the career of Fedor Emelianenko. As Mousasi wrote in an e-mail:
Mousasi added that he’d like to come back to the U.S. to train with Josh Thomson at American Kickboxing Academy; the two fighters recently became acquainted in Miami during the last Strikeforce show. So what spurred Mousasi’s split with M-1? Apparently, they wouldn’t keep him on the payroll for life. Mousasi’s former manager at M-1, Apy Echteld, told MMA Junkie that the Last Gypsy broke ties when M-1 refused to sign him into a long-term management deal that would give the Dutch-Armenian fighter "lifetime security" — a contract setup reportedly enjoyed by Fedor Emelianenko.
Mousasi is still under contract with Strikeforce for as many as seven fights, and plans to enter DREAM’s light-heavyweight grand prix later this year. His next match is rumored to be against Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal in April.

commentsFrom a fans perspective I'm not impressed with the way that they have pimped fed's services.
-give him a one fight deal and you know it won't be against Brock Lesnar (love him or hate him he is the *puke* champ
-give him a two fight deal and let him whip someone's ass then get Brock, beat Brock and then leave. Where does that leave the UFC heavyweight title and how would any other heavyweight get to prove themself if he just beats the champ and leaves?
-give him a multiple fight deal and the UFC is gonna probably get raped by M-1 for every penny they can squeeze out of Zuffa
Everyone wants to see these dream figths happen but, I think money and politics will prevent this from ever happening.
Dana is all about making money and good ratings right? Then he would not be above working with M-1... somehow, to get Fedor's ass in the door and to prove once and for all, to the fans, whether Fedor is the best in the world. And if Fedor just sees it as a job, then if the job pays well he'll fucking do it. Simple as that, in my opinion.
I think that's a pretty legit reason! Nobody wanted to see Fedor kick sand in that skinny wimp Overeem's face because where's the fun in that?
Now Overeem is beefcaked up and ready to kick some sand into that geek Fedor's face!
He really needs to challenge himself against Machida and Rua.
Do a google search for Russian Mobster graves. Those guys know how to die in style. Not one icecream colored sweater amongst them. Plenty of poorly tailored suites with shoulder pads though.
- Fedor is part owner of M-1 - it's not like they're some shadowy, mob-esque organization that somehow hoodwinked him into signing with them. Well, they ARE that, but Fedor is at least complicit in their shadiness.
- Fedor doesn't give a hoot about silly things like "money" or "proving himself". Dude's married, got his own team gym in the Russian hamlet he lives in, is on his second wife, owns his own home and whatnot and seems happy with the way his life is. Fighting is just a job for him at the end of the day. He's made his fortune and whether or not he intended to do so, he already cemented his legacy by smashing everyone he's ever fought.
- Fedor and his goon squad really hate Dana White and will probably never sign based on that fact alone.
- Fedor is fucking weird as hell and is possibly a cyborg.
It would be great to see him come to the UFC and see if the Pride curse holds up against the Vanilla Gorilla, Carwin, Mir or any of the other top heavyweights the UFC has under lock and key, but I for one will be fine never seeing him there.
Well fuck fuckity fuck fuck. I didn't realize that Fedor in the UFC was an impossibility.
