It’s like that old saying, God never closes a door without opening a window so someone else can sneak inside and steal all your jewelry.  In the case of the UFC 106 main card, Karo Parisyan seems to have closed that door all by himself, and now the window is wide open for Paulo Thiago and Jacob Volkmann, whose fight has just been bumped to the televised portion of the pay-per-view. 

As you’ll no doubt recall, Thiago was originally supposed to face Thiago Alves in the most confusing match-up of names since Gegard Mousasi fought Musashi, but after some reshuffling he ended up getting the Octagon rookie Volkmann.  Just yesterday they were still relegated to the dark portion of this card, but as things continued to fall apart around UFC 106 the outlook got brighter.  Now the entire paying world will get to see them square off, with the pay-per-view broadcast currently looking like this:


Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin
Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson
Paulo Thiago vs. Jacob Volkmann
Luis Cane vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni

I agree with both comments those two fights are going to be entertaining as hell, and I'm looking forward to seeing Tito fight again as well.

And I can't believe people forget about how bad Gonzaga was destroying Carwin. If Gonzaga could take a punch Carwin wouldn't in be in the title picture.

Man brett isn't a can, i can't believe people still say that.

If you compare his Record to Carwin it is similar. Except at the top, Brett fought the best fighter in the world and gave him a better fight than his last 3 combined.

Brett also has a win over a former UFC champ, not only a win but a destruction.

Carwins best win is against a UFC contender, a contender who dropped him and broke his nose.

I think the card is fine.
Glad karo isnt in it to fuck it up.
I will be watching it, and it beats the fuck outta watching 1 trick pony boxing or boring ass 1 sided Fedor fights-a-can.

Amazing how after all the changes this card went through, there are still potentially great fights that I'd pay to see.

Saw a show on those BOPE guys crazy shit, they get shot at all the time. I was thinking the UFC needs to combine a few cards with all these cancelations take the good fights put the rest on a spike fight night card.

Yeah, Paulo looks like the guy they'd send in from the back to see you at the restaurant when you realize you don't have enough money to pay for all you've eaten, then you're like "man, I REEALLY shouldn't have eaten here at all".

Yeah, shame that we'll miss McLovin. But if its true that every fighter has a certain amount of fights in him, then he got his money and saved on wear and tear. I figure they could even reschedule him soon since he is fresh out of training camp and would only need enough time to prepare strategy for another opponent.

Sweet mother-of-god, what an absolutely terrible card. In instances like this, the UFC really needs to reconsider airing free events; as in, the free events end up being of higher quality than the PPVs. Alternatively, though the logistics would be a nightmare, and nearly impossible, the UFC should offer these terrible cards for a reduced rate. 104 was the only decent card since 100, really.

The worse part is that I have seriously been waiting to see another Hazelett fight and now thats shot, thanks Karo. Free money for McLovin though.

Since the Saunders fight and the Grove fight are on Spike right before, this makes sense. The wiki for this event is stating that he pulled out due to an addiction to painkillers. Probably true. I'm sure its more complicated than that but I'm sure its for equally ridiculous reasons. This guy professionally shoots himself in the foot pretty much every chance he gets, lets just hope he does turn to roulette like Arlovski cause man that would not surprise me at all at this point.

Get better dude, get off the meds. Get your head right. People used to like you.

And yeah, this card IS cursed.
