[UPDATED] Glover Teixeira Signs with UFC, Faces Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146

(You think that’s funny? I just pissed in your Gatorade.)

It looks like the UFC’s light heavyweight division is about to get a much needed shake up, because it is being reported that hard hitting Shooto and WEC vet Glover Teixeira has finally signed with the promotion, and will debut at UFC 146 against an opponent that has yet to be determined.

Undefeated since March of 2005, when he dropped a unanimous decision to resurgent TUF 3 alum Ed Herman, Teixeira has reeled off 15 straight, with only one going the distance and only three making it out of the first round. Most recently, the Ruas Vale Tudo product ran through former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez, forcing him to submit to strikes in under 2 minutes. The Brazilian slugger also holds notable victories over UFC vets Marvin Eastman, Antonio Mendes, and Rameau Thierry Sokoudoju.

[UPDATED] 2/23/12

Word has just broke that Teixeira’s opponent for his long awaited debut will be TUF 8 alum Kyle Kingsbury.

After dropping a unanimous decision to Tom Lawlor at the TUF 8 Finale back in December of 2008, Kingsbury rebounded by going on a four fight win streak that included wins over Fabio Maldonado, Jared Hamman, and Ricardo Romero. That win streak was snapped, however, by Stephan Bonnar at UFC 139 by way of unanimous decision.

Definitely a great test for Glover’s UFC debut, as Kinsbury has only been finished once in his 14 fight career– a first round TKO at the hands of Tony Lopez at a 2007 King of the Cage event.

So is UFC gonna make Machida vs. Dan Henderson happen, or what?

@ Jackbequick, I believe it is Glover, pronounced Glo-vah. I'm also surprised he wasn't signed sooner, I figured he would have come over with Stann, Condit and Sonnen fron the WEC.

Request for proper pronunciation, por favor. Is it Glover as in Danny Glover? Or is it Glover, as in that rhymes with that cyanotic puppet from Sesame Street?
