"Let's go Hillary Williams!"
I've seen her at some no-gi tournaments here in Mississippi. Totally dominated some of the guys. She's a mean chick. That being said, you're right...it's going to be tough with Kyra and Megumi in her division.
Granted that some of his competitors may or may not have better BJJ, GSP's proven time and time again that his grappling is first rate, and among the best in the world in his weight class.
GSP's a legitimate black belt in ju jitsu and without the worry of a fluke Serra-like shot in the head, he might very well surprise a lot of doubters.
I'm not saying he will win his weight class, but he's not easy to take down and is very composed the odd occasion it actually does happen. He's faced some topnotch wrestlers with distinguished pedigrees and fared quite well, doing the dominating rather than receiving.
I'd be willing to say, he has a decent shot rather than the "no-chance" outcome that some posters are so eager to dump on him.
Gunnar Nelson would destroy Kip Winger
Is this an all grappling tournament? Are strikes allowed?
Hillary is basically a BJJ prodigy from my home state, Arkansas. Last I'd heard she's doing open mat no-Gi lessons at the same place Roli Delgado and Mike Wessel train, I could be wrong.
Good gawd she has some intense competition, Kyra AND Megumi. Megumi is a killer.
I'm hoping for a flying triangle.
Also, I didn't realize that Marquardt was at that level in terms of grappling.
