Headkick Lovers Rejoice: Pat Barry vs. Cro Cop Being Targeted for UFC 115

After his bloody win over Anthony Perosh at UFC 110, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic will still be getting a Duke Roufus-trained striker to stand and bang with at UFC 115, only new reports suggest that it won’t be Ben Rothwell, as previously expected.  MMA Scraps is reporting that Cro Cop and Pat Barry have been offered a chance to try and kick one another’s faces in when the UFC visits Vancouver.  Do we have to tell you that signing this fight is about as close as you can get to guaranteeing a highlight reel caliber knockout finish without actually paying one fighter to go in there and leave his chin wide open?  We didn’t think so.

But if Barry is getting Cro Cop, what of Rothwell?  The rumor is that he may now be getting Barry’s original opponent for UFC 115, Gilbert Yvel.  So basically, the stand-and-bang quotient just doubled.  Join us after the jump as we go ahead and get ourselves hyped for the awesomeness that awaits us.

That crocop sapp fight looked rigged, sapp through like 5 punches the whole time and left the sides of his head wide open like he was waiting for the high kick. As soon as he took one clean shot he dropped and rolled around till the ref called it off.

War Cro Cop!

Barry is the ideal opponent to gradually rebuild Mirko's record and confidence. Pat is better than the cans Mirko has smashed since 07, but he's no JDS.

Yes, the UFC is protecting, even pampering, Mirko. But so what? I still like to watch him. And wouldn't it be fun to see him in some old-timer fights against Big Nog or Couture?

I liked Barry/Yvel better as well. Of all of the above mentioned match ups, that one had the promise of some real fireworks. I can't get excited about Cro Cop in a head kick contest anymore (blasphemy?), because he seems to be too reluctant to pull the trigger on the left leg of death.

Damn I was excited for barry vs Yvel. Oh well The new matchups are pretty good. I had Cro Cop taking Rothwell out though, so it kind of sucks because i think barry is a tougher opponent than Rothwell. Either way thems two fights I'll be happy to watch!

Rothwell sucks. On the other hand, I really like Pat Berry, but can't get off Crocops nuts (Pride days, sorry. No homo haha) so hopefully they can both get a couple fights in.

considering cro cop and yvel are most likely going to get smashed, it sounds like the ufc just wants to bring rothwell and berry into the spotlight a little more with some wins over bigger names

Much more exciting than Rothwell mechanically ousting crocop.
Berry will give him another gonzaga treatment IMO.

They must be tryin to get rid of Rothwell, there's no way he beats Yvel. I gave him more of a chance to win against CroCop. Looks like his UFC career isn't going to be as long as he thought it would be.

Cool.

I live near Vancouver, will most likely go to 115. I think Couture vs Franklin is also targeted for the card, but they keep changing the rumored line-up so we'll see.

This would be a good pair of fights though. With the possibility of Lidell/Ortiz there very well could be a lot of KO's on this card.
