Henderson vs. Guida, Yamamoto vs. Uyenoyama Added to Inaugural UFC On Fox Event Nov. 12

(Bendo” and “The Carpenter” will be appearing alongside in Encino Man 2: The Encino Twins.)

UFC officials announced a pair of fight bookings for it’s November 12 Fox premier show overnight.

According to a posting on, former WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson (14-2) will take on Clay Guida (29-8) in a 155-pound affair and top Japanese bantamweight Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto (18-4, 1 NC) will square off against Strikeforce and Shooto veteran Darren Uyenoyama (6-3) in 135-pound action on the card.

Although neither fight will be shown during the one-hour broadcast which will feature only one bout — a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos — UFC president Dana White mentioned last week that they are looking at options to ensure fans can watch the entire card.

A win by Henderson or Guida will likely lead to a title shot considering that in June “The Carpenter” defeated the man who was supposed to be next in line at the winner of Edgar and Maynard — the WEC’s last lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who took the title from “Bendo” last December.

Yamamoto, who lost in his UFC debut to Demetrious Johnson in February will be looking to rebound against his fellow countryman with his first North American win, but in spite of his deceiving record, Uyenoyama is a tough opponent and a win over him won’t come easy, especially in his first Octagon appearance since he’ll be fighting like his career is on the line.

Main Card (On Fox)
Heavyweight Championship Bout
Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos

Preliminary Card
Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida
Dustin Poirier vs. Pablo Garza
Cub Swanson vs. Ricardo Lamas
Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama

I got Bendo, I think that loss to Pettis lit a fire under his ass, that coupled with his scary love of Jesus will push him over the line.

wow, seriously. is nick diaz at your house? have you befuddled his mind with conspiracy theories?
XENOPHON- September 7, 2011 at 5:22 pm
Maybe their managers should reach out for sponsorship....
djp1988- September 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm
The fact that this fight isn't sponsored by Head and Shoulders is a travesty.
XENOPHON- September 7, 2011 at 3:35 pm
There won't be much pride left if Dos Santos can work his magic. Velasquez can always leave the stadium and go to the tattoo parlors in town, they can easily add some "small penis" ink.

@El Guapo
Look at all the sports FOX shows for free....why do they refuse to do MMA the same way? All the other major events are at least 2 hour sports? Hold tight to that $100's play'a, your ass is going to need it soon enough.
XENOPHON- September 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm
@Me likey
Yeah, free is cool. But the fact is its already gonna pirated for free with the commercials removed if we wait 20 minutes..
If we wait 20 days, we can buy the entire promotion from the Walmart $3 for two movies barrel.
FOX is massive, the problem is they know how hard the hardcore MMA fan is, is are going to dumb them down.
Let's just see all the whining around here once the cock-struck love of a free 15 minute fix wears off.

@ Kid Clam Curtains
Before I STFU, tell me this. How did CP get Arianny’s playboy pics before they were published?
If there is no financial ties to the UFC, let them say so in writing.
Then I will get down on my knees next to you, and help you suck that CP cock, not a second sooner.

@Kid Clam Curtains
Honey-bunny's cool, thanks. I'll add to what some mat have missed, that its been already released in the media FOX plans this scam on a quarterly basis, 4 times a year.
I know that my question would entice the thought of being moronic, fair. On the other hand, what a better way to corral interest of all in a portal who is viewed as unfriendly.
A fifth column is a group of people who clandestinely undermine a larger group from within. Its easy.

His tat says "Brown Pride" Maybe he just likes Cleveland.

I hope the winner gets to shave the losers head live on Fox.....Beefcake style.
C-Dong- September 7, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Do you know the thing that trips me out about this whole coming out the fact they are using Cain Velasquez. OF ALL FIGHTERS to open up this debut but a man with MEXICAN PRIDE tatted over his chest. Yeah thats going to go over well with alot of viewers....I just thought that was such a dumbass move by the UFC.

gabrielb- September 7, 2011 at 11:41 am
the reason their having issues with putting the whole card on tv is cause pacman is fighting that night. no point in putting a whole show on tv if millions are gonna tune out for pacman.
El Guapo- September 7, 2011 at 11:40 am
Call me crazy*, but I'm with Xeno on this one. I, too, would rather pay 60 bucks to watch the fights as opposed to watching them for free. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go drop a deuce. Best believe I'll be wiping my ass with hundred dollar bills, playa.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- September 7, 2011 at 11:20 am
I guarantee you a bare minimum of 2 fights will air, probably 3. JDS/Cain is not going past round 2, and they will air the best of the earlier fights to fill the time like they always do.

Besides, you know they'll air the prelims elsewhere, so what does it matter what channel we ahve to watch to see them?
Me likey- September 7, 2011 at 11:02 am
calm down xeno. did you forget to take your bipolar meds today?jk. you do realize you are bitching about seeing the ufc heavyweight title fight for free though. if they can give us free cards and make up the ppv money with sponsorship i don't care if it is just one fight.
it is probably more fox doing the one fight thing more than zuffa. a title fight can last a maximum of 25 mins with 1 minute between rounds for a total of 29 mins for all you math guys. to have time to introduce jds and cain to a lot of people who don't know who they are and to build a little hype for the fox zuffa union. they don't have time to definatley say that they can air all the fights on the card. you gotta start somewhere.
Kid Clam Curtains- September 7, 2011 at 10:59 am

Why don't you just relax and see how it plays out? I'm sure both Fox and the UFC want to see how the first event is received by the casual fan then will tweak future shows based on the results. They'll still have plenty of free events on the other fox networks. You're acting like it will only be one fight on network TV for the rest of time.

And to say that CP is getting paid by Zuffa, the company that banned them from their events, is moronic. Not knowing why they were banned in the first place means you don't know what the fuck you are talking about (since its a fairly recent banning, based on CP posting Arianny's playboy pics before they were published). STFU and go to another mma site. Maybe check out the Bellator site. I doubt they have a pro zuffa slant.

Oh and what is the biggest MMA story of the year then if not the 2 listed?
XENOPHON- September 7, 2011 at 10:15 am
Hey CP --- who put this stupid fucking poll up? "What's the biggest MMA news story of the year?"
Niether is the biggest MMA news of the year...It's patently a question based on disinformation by design?
I have had suspicions in the past of a hidden CP contract with ZUFFA this is not disclosed, and been keenly watching your editorial slants...but I am now nearly convinced that you take cash from the UFC, Zuffa, or one of their front companies.
Someone (please) explain to me how the Cage Potato vs Dana White shit all started, as I don't know the truth or the history over the whole "Free Cage Potato" campaign?
XENOPHON- September 7, 2011 at 10:08 am
Fucking FOX-UFC suck, who watches just one fight. You know who, fucking boxing people, that's who.

This is just the beginning of mass discontent with the already fucked model they will be shoving down our throats.
What the fuck are they doing, they are limiting the the juice by design in an effort to do a couple things. One to pull ratings onto Fox channels with a one hour broadcast - you tell me how you will like watching a 5 round fight last one hour?
Leading into, during, and after each of the rounds those fucks at Fox are going to dump high paying advertisers with their commercials and cheesy programming as they string out the viewer.
You watch, talk about bunk, you've seen nothing yet.
SquidInk- September 7, 2011 at 10:06 am
What's the official explanation for the "only one fight on Fox" thing? It doesn't make any sense to me. This is the build up to your big network moment and you're gonna follow all the hype and anticipation by putting on ONE fight? Sounds like a recipe for disappointment (and yes, I like the match-up).
italia furia- September 7, 2011 at 9:53 am
man 155 is many deserving fighters...if jim miller gets a win his next fight, I'd like to see him challenge for the title after these two figure out next contender...but that's looking pretty far down the road, I'm just saying I wouldn't complain even though he lost to Bendo...
Get Off Me- September 7, 2011 at 9:51 am
Poirier is gonna kick the shit out of Garza for sure.
Bendo seems to have no issues with grapplers who do not strike particularly well up to this point in his career and so I see him beating Guida rather dominantly.
What if Cain and JDS finishes in the first round?
I think they will be airing fights from the undercard on FOX anyhow.
Kid Clam Curtains- September 7, 2011 at 9:30 am
I got henderson taking this fight. He's a better version of Guida IMO.
