Henderson/Franklin II Still Not Listed On; Major Announcement Ahead?

Rich Franklin gives us the heads-up that the UFC may be re-thinking the main event for UFC 103 (September 19th, Dallas) — which is great, considering it was a garbage-ass fight to begin with. MMA Junkie claims that the bout, though officially announced, was never added to the UFC 103 event page to begin with. It seems like odd treatment for an upcoming main event, unless something else is in the works; it’s been speculated that because of recent events, Franklin or Henderson could instead face off against Vitor Belfort or He Who Shall Not Be Named at #103. Belfort would be an awesome fill-in, though September might be too soon a return for You Know Who. Adding fuel to the rumor fire is Dana White’s recent announcement that the UFC will be holding a press conference on July 31st to discuss "a lot of crazy things." Stay tuned…

vitor can punch and thats about it. i dont dislike him but hes limited and just by catching an aged matt lindland doesnt mean he has any better chance at hendo this time. ive always wanted to see henderson vs tito also for some reason.
T BONE- July 26, 2009 at 11:12 pm
he fought at 205 in pride against hendo though didnt he? i dont really care who he fights i wanna see him return to the ufc with success he's the man lol
leonard cohen- July 26, 2009 at 10:16 pm
haha thats good shit. i bet he was like a substitute teacher for a couple months and the ufc just thought itd be a good angle to play.
Walrus- July 26, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Okay, so Rich Franklin was a teacher.

Why is he writing like a 6th grade girl on myspace?

I don't want to be a grammar nazi, but shit, add a vowel or two.

is everyone forgetting that hendo dominated belfort in pride. it might have been at the real deal but i cant think of which one right now. it was hendos fight before wand. also i was thinkin the same thing about franklin vs tito, i think its a good fight and should be a good main event. franklin can just keep makin main events with fading big names. id give tito a chance in it.
mmafan-atic- July 26, 2009 at 7:18 pm
i feel like everyone is overlooking mousasi. he would be a waaay better matchup with franklin than tito at 205. plus, even if tito and dana "made up" i highly doubt dana is putting him right back in a UFC main event. and yes, hendo v. belfort @ 185 with winner fighting silva, and loser fighting winner of marquardt v. maia.
Joedirt- July 26, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Haha... sorry JaySmith..... but I can see the commentary now..... "Gina has been in the guard this entire round.... Joedirt has tried to pass at a steady pace but its a weak effort.... he's only managed to give her canvass burn and move her around the ring a bit"
Jay Smith- July 26, 2009 at 4:35 pm
@ Joedirt
Dude, I'm the number one contender for the match with Gina. I've been training really hard, working on my donkey punch too. You will not take this away from me bro!!!!
Koeikan- July 26, 2009 at 3:46 pm
Haha, I love CP's commitment to not reporting Tito news until it's official.
The Turtle- July 26, 2009 at 2:07 pm
I believe the UFC has aquired Belfort and want him to fight Silva for the 185lb title.
With Hendo getting the high profile win at UFC 100 I see the UFC putting Belfort against Hendo for the #1 contender spot.
I also believe the UFC has resigned Tito and I think thats the fight they will give Franklin.
The question I have is what card will these fights be on? Will both be on 103?
I dont see that happening. I think the Franklin vs Ortiz is the most headliner worthy of the 2 fights tho.
TheSlothman- July 26, 2009 at 11:27 am
I'd also like to see the UFC start treating class guys like ACE and HENDO with some respect,, you know , maybe tell them what the plan is , and stop jerking these guys around so freakin much.... too much to ask?
ktfo- July 26, 2009 at 11:18 am
yeah henderson/ belfort would be great. they are both relevant at 185, winner fights silva. I dont think hendo wants a fight at 205 right now he wants that rematch. franklin and tito are both about the same level in the deep 205 pool. so that will be a good match.
831 Son- July 26, 2009 at 11:17 am
I'd also like to see Belfort vs Hendo rather than Franklin vs Belfort.

I hope this fucking press conference in a few days finally brings Fedor to the UFC to see if he can roll with the fools here.

Haha and the UFC doesn't tell Rich anything. That sucks. But the UFC always fucks up regarding their events section on their site. Nothing is updated as it should be besides the front page. No joke.
Joedirt- July 26, 2009 at 10:16 am
I want to see me vs Gina Carano..... I'd win via motorboat. Slow mo replay with spit flying everywhere and boobs jigglin...
But I guess if that can't happen I'm totally with Kadumel on this one too. Good matchups.
UFC fan- July 26, 2009 at 10:16 am
speculation is ok and fun to play what if, but I have had enough of that game, I am ready for some truth and real announcements.
I can wait till July 31rst to see whats what.
AkilleeZ- July 26, 2009 at 9:53 am
Oh baby I love surprises!
clutchy hopkins- July 26, 2009 at 9:30 am
man, belfort v.s. hendo would be so so so sick.
Poo Flinger- July 26, 2009 at 9:25 am
I have to second Kadumel on this one. Henderson/Belfort would be better because of A. Henderson's chin will allow for sustained action, and B. Henderson is great in the clinch, which used to be Belfort's kryptonite and I just want to see if Belfort has improved his game there. I also want to see Franklin vs. Ortiz.
Eddi- July 26, 2009 at 9:05 am
Its gonna be Tom Attencio vs's got to make his cheddar somehow
Kadumel- July 26, 2009 at 9:04 am
A franklin vs ortiz match would be a good fight though. Great test for both fighters really.
Kadumel- July 26, 2009 at 9:03 am
I hope they dont do a Franklin/Belfort match, I like Rich to much to see him twiching on the canvas like "The Law". I hope they match up Belfort and Henderson at 185, not that would be a hell of a fight and a good test of Hendersons granite chin. Who's with me?
