Hire Heroes USA Needs Your Help and All it Will Cost You is a Mouse Click

Imagine wrapping up a dedicated career serving your country in the military and not being able to find a job.

That’s the reality of life for a growing number of former servicemen, which is why Hire Heroes USA was created.

Championed by Executive Director Brian Stann, a decorated former Marine and standout fighter with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Hire Heroes USA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide career placement assistance to America’s returning service men and women. The HHUSA program focuses on providing transitional assistance to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans, specializing in the career placement of soldiers who were injured or disabled in action. The program serves veterans from all branches of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Reservists and Coast Guard.

Here’s how you can help:

Hire Heroes was recently awarded a grant from the makers of the Call of Duty video game franchise’s charitable foundation, the Call of Duty Endowment. As an added gesture, C.O.D.E has informed HHUSA that it will donate $1 (up to a maximum of $30,000) for every person who becomes a fan of its Facebook page between Thursday, May 27 and Monday, May 31.

According to Stann, the additional funds provided by this initiative will provide outgoing soldiers access to Hire Heroes’ Transition Assistance courses and employment assistance programs, many of which are executed on site at wounded warrior rehabilitation facilities.

Here’s the link to the C.O.D.E Facebook page.

Please become a fan (click "like" at the top of the page) between tomorrow and Monday and post a link on your FB and Twitter pages, asking that your friends do the same.

It’s for a great organization and as the video below illustrates, the fact that veteran unemployment rates are close to 25% makes this a timely and worthwhile cause to support.

About Hire Heroes USA:
Hire Heroes USA (HHUSA) wholeheartedly understands the importance of creating opportunities for those who have asked so little but selflessly given so much. Since it’s inception in June 2007, HHUSA has been the link to career opportunities nationwide for returning service men and women – our Heroes – to ensure they have the opportunity to enjoy the freedoms they fought to preserve.
A personal approach facilitates matching of the career interests, qualifications and transferable skills of veterans with the needs of hiring companies partnering with HHUSA to fill job openings. In addition, transition assistance is made available to all Veterans HHUSA assists.
A mission-focused 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the services provided by HHUSA are done so at no cost to veterans or hiring companies and are possible only with the continued support of compassionate individuals and our corporate partners.

About Brian Stann:
Brian comes to HHUSA from the United States Marine Corps, having left active duty in May 2008 as a Captain. He received his commission through the United States Naval Academy, where he excelled in football as a linebacker and earned a degree in Economics. Brian’s military career included two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom as an Infantry Officer in both the Al Qaim and Habbiniyah regions. In recognition of his valiant actions during an ambush by Iraqi insurgents, Brian was awarded the Silver Star, the nation’s third highest military honor.
As he neared the conclusion of his military service, Brian became increasingly involved with mixed martial arts. He made his World Extreme Cagefighting debut in June 2006 and became the WEC Light Heavyweight champion in March 2008. Brian made his UFC debut in April 2009.
Brian is excited about the opportunity to lead the Hire Heroes USA team and looks forward to the growth and continued success of the program.
———-

About Call of Duty Endowment:
The Call of Duty Endowment (CODE), is a non-profit public benefit corporation that helps soldiers transition to civilian careers after their military service. CODE focuses its resources on assisting organizations that provide job placement and training to veterans, as well as engaging the media and public forums to raise awareness about the issue. Activision Blizzard launched the organization in October 2009, with a commitment to donate and raise millions of dollars for the cause. To help guide the endowment, CEO Bobby Kotick has recruited an advisory board composed of respected veterans representing the various service branches. Just as our men and women in the armed forces fought to protect our nation and liberties, CODE will fight to ensure that they find a career they deserve on leaving the military.

News flash, dumbass: not everyone in the military has the job description of "kill anything that moves".

To answer your question directly, military vets are considered heroes because they all make sacrifices, ostensibly for the good of all citizens--regardless of the opinion of those citizens. Members of the armed forces have been through experiences that the vast majority of their countrymen cannot or would not volunteer to undertake.
Shnook1200- May 31, 2010 at 11:25 am
Why is every soldier that comes home cosidered a "Hero"? Just because he went and tryed to kill other humans?

dear rockhuddy,

go fuck yourself.

sincerely,

a poor, brainwashed, emperialistic, uneducated barbarian.

(if your problem is with the way the military is used, you should be addressing your leadership. there is no way to justify attacking the rank and file, the heroes who *are* the front lines. whether you are willing to acknowledge it or not, they are in fact defending the nation and your freedoms. i see the point you are attempting to make, but this is hardly the venue in which your style will gain traction or enjoy any amount of popularity. i suggest you change your tune if you wish to continue to enjoy our company.)

I think the mr. micropenis comment was directed elsewhere, but boy did it make me feel self-conscious. I mean do you know what it's like to have a tiny penis? It certainly makes you lower on the totem pecking pole, if you catch my drift. I mean, I barely even want to take the thing out in public, let alone show it off at the neighborhood Christmas gift exchange to try to make some of my buddies' wives feel jealous. All day long on the television I see my "little problem" bandied about as fodder for marketing drop-outs to make eye-gratingly uncomfortable commercials and yet has anybody come up with an equitable solution? Absolutely not. Sure, if you're shooting pool with a rope there's all kinds of remedies, take your pick- choose your snake poison, so to speak. Flaccidity is a thing of the past; if you're ninety years old you can have a rock hard erection that lasts for hours with a little chemical assistance. But a tiny penis? You might as well get a succession of nesting strap-ons to wear over your penis, like the many layers of a carved wooden russian doll, because the only way you're going to impress the ladies is a three hour face dive to the clam palace. It's a curse that never ends, it never stops mocking you. Even the gays don't want you if you've got a shrimpy cock. You're stuck to a hopeless existence of masturbation, swedish penis pumps, and herbal supplements of questionable efficacy and even more questionable origin. And the side effects from some of these things, christ have mercy! My nipples have elongated so much they look like they came from a goat udder- they lactate randomly and unpredictably, I think I'm growing an enlarged clitoris to the left side of one ball, and my taint has sprouted such long hair I can almost braid it, I've had to start conditioning it. But I digress...
rockhuddy- May 27, 2010 at 12:26 am
i didn't read anything past "it's about killing a fucking raghead"

get out your tweezers and fuck yourself, mr. micropenis

you are everything that's wrong with the world

I don't owe you any kind of answer cause trolls will troll and it doesn't matter, but I will tell you this I am a jingoist and as far as I am concerned we haven't done enough of the things you think are bad. I think your perspective is fucked up.
As for the penis thing, hey man you can call it small all you want...just stop gagging on it when you suck it, ok?
Your opinion is based on economics and morality huh? We aren't in a recession cause of war you moron we are in a recession cause senators make 20 million a year and a per-dium for their hookers, and small boys they like to fondle.
As for morality, who gives a fuck about morality, it's war, not a dicksucking contest like I'm sure you are use to. It's about killing a fucking raghead, and if you have a problem with it then I invite you to fucking leave.
The end result is freedom, yep even your freedom to be a douche-bag, and NOT legally be killed for your ignorant shit talk.
Don't quote me numbers of dead, and wounded like you think you know something, all you know is the shit you read, cause thats how dudes like you work, someone says something to you while you both are in mom's basement then you run with it. Look douche-bag more people are killed in car wrecks each year than has been lost totally in the last 20 years of any wars or fights.
You want real numbers of death in war look up WWII you little pansy cunt, THOSE were real men, and if it wasn't for their sacrifice your weakass wouldn't be here right now being a stupid fuck talking your anti war shit.
Whats gained by what is going on? The fact that some off the wall crazy bastard, like you, but from another country can't walk into your neighborhood, and blow you and your family up. Your very safety is dependent on the very people you disrespect.
as for saber rattling, and being a real man....oh you can be sure of it I am a real man, and a better one than you. And if you like I will rattle my saber at you while beating it over your goddamn head. what else you got for me?
Cause I am still right here telling you don't belong in this thread, and you are the floating turd in our punchbowl, and as unwelcome as all that can make one imagine.
rockhuddy- May 26, 2010 at 10:47 pm
drano, you haven't made a single argument about why militarism is a good thing; instead you've resorted to attacks against me. While my position is based on economics and morality, I'm not sure what yours is based on. I didn't intend to stoop to your level, but I'm guessing that you have a tiny penis and compensate with saber-rattling- after all, if you support invading another country you must be a real man, right?

Unfortunately offensive wars are conducted for the benefit of three groups: first and foremost for the bankers that finance the war, second for the various arms dealers who profit by them, and third for the governments who grow bigger and more powerful by conducting them. Let's look at the two current wars. We've spent over a trillion dollars on them so far, but have we been taxed for it? Nope. That money has been borrowed, and you, I, and our children are on the hook for paying it back with interest. Obviously this is a pretty good deal for the banks, but not such a good deal for the rest of us. I assume I don't need to explain how the arms dealers are making off like bandits as well from this scam. Over 4,000 Americans have died and over 10,000 have been wounded, along with over a million Iraqi and Afghani civilians, who I assume you don't care about but who were people nonetheless. Finally, we've lost a large chunk of liberties here at home in the so called war on terror. And what have you and I gained in return for this blood, treasure, and oppression? Really, what? If you can give me a good answer I'll admit I'm wrong and never post here again, but I'm racking my brain and I can't think of one, so good luck.
dranokills- May 26, 2010 at 10:03 pm
I don't care if your uncles were generals it doesn't entitle you to badmouth service men and woman, it just makes you a pansy ass little bitch who thinks he knows everything. you have not yet been enlightened asshole. pacifist like you disgust me. move to cuba you bastard.
You think you are better or more civilized, your fooling yourself, the fact that I and others like me can literally restrain ourselves from killing you like the dog you are serves to prove that I am way more civil than you.
And to repeat myself you are an UNwelcome poster in a thread that you don't need to post in, and from what you are saying shouldn't care about, so I and other can conclude that you are unpatriotic troll. Stop wasting space go back to your bridge.
rockhuddy- May 26, 2010 at 9:19 pm
Hello drano, as far as I can tell I am the civilized one and you are the barbarian. I oppose murder, theft, and unprovoked violence, all of which you seem to support. I support freedom, not only for Americans, but for all humans, and you seem to oppose it. I possess the backbone to tell anyone what I think, and if I get beat up for it that really just proves my point. I have 5 uncles who are veterans, if that makes any difference.

Oh, and what you call service to the country is more accurately called service to the government, which I suspect most would agree does NOT serve our best interests. Why do you think our "heroes" are guarding the poppy fields in Afghanistan? Is it to protect our freedoms? Give me a fucking break, and educate yourself about the real motivations for war before you call me a pathetic excuse for a human. War is a racket that hurts both the winners and the losers, and those who engage in it are brainwashed but well meaning saps at best and shameless, wanton thugs at worst (unless, of course, it is truly a defensive war, which is always justified).

dranokills- May 26, 2010 at 8:21 pm
HI wifey, good to agree again.
As for you rockhuddy, you are a pathetic excuse for a human being, and an American citizen, I hope one day you come face to face with 2 realities. I hope for one you have a very near and dear loved one go serve his or her country so you can see firsthand how absolutely goddamn stupid you are sounding right now.
Next and most importantly I hope you run across a vet and say that shit loud enough for him to hear it...and I hope it makes it on youtube, cause people like you deserve 2 things...educated, and taught a lesson. You are not worth the air you breathe, nor even my efforts to insult you cause you are to stupid to even understand it.
You are just another douchebag troll posting where you don't belong, in a thread you obviously don't like.
So once more: go fuck yourself.
wifey- May 26, 2010 at 8:14 pm
I suppose I have to respectfully disagree with you - just because I don't agree with where they are/what they are doing now, doesn't mean I wouldn't call them heroes. I know that, if it came down to it, they'd lay down their lives to defend our country - say, if we were invaded. And, many of our military men and women are put into situations daily in which they put their lives on the line to defend each other, and save military and civilian lives. I respect that, and call that heroic.
rockhuddy- May 26, 2010 at 8:03 pm
You're right, it's a shame that the government needs to bribe poor, uneducated people to serve its empire, and I understand that that goes on. It's also a shame that once in the military these people are trained to obey and kill, and are traumatized by doing it. However, just because they've been duped doesn't make them heroes.

My real beef is with the government in general, not with the brainwashed people that work for it. And once more, I celebrate any tax-feeder getting a real job in the private sector and I wish them the very best. Just don't brand it as "helping the heroes", because in the big picture nothing about what they do is heroic.
wifey- May 26, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Umm, I'm actually probably the most anti-war person you'll ever meet. I think the fact that our troops are in the middle east is fucking awful. But most of the enlisted guys/girls see the military as the only means to a better life - recruiters target low income kids from poor neighborhoods who don't have a snowball's chance in hell of paying for college/trade school on their own, and who's h.s. education is a fucking joke (I know of what I speak - I taught at one of the worst high schools in NYC). They make a sacrifice - it's not their fucking fault that our government makes shitty decisions.

Oh, and a lot of enlisted folks live at/below the poverty line and qualify for food stamps. Gotta love that.
rockhuddy- May 26, 2010 at 7:35 pm
Nope. Totally serious. Every man employed in the military is a drain on society- they sap vast amounts of resources that could be put to much better use actually improving our lives. And spare me any bullshit about "they're defending our freedoms". What freedoms are they defending by occupying tiny third world countries thousands of miles away? It does not benefit me at all when they murder civilians in foreign lands, in fact it hurts me because that incites hatred against us.

I certainly support real national defense (as opposed to offense), but in my opinion the government and its thugs are the oppressors, not the protectors. As I said, I'm all for the guns-for-hire getting real jobs, but the militaristic attitude of this country sickens me. Soldiers are not heroes- they are, at best, a necessary evil.
wifey- May 26, 2010 at 6:23 pm
@rockhuddy - I really hope you were trying to be funny. Otherwise, you're a total douche.

And fuck you for making me agree with drano (again).

Hi drano!

FUCK THIS. I already paid their salaries while they were on duty and I'm paying their pensions now. Although on the other hand, it's better for them to have real productive jobs than to be guns for hire living off the rest of us.
